Under The Apple Tree Sessions - WhisperingBobTV CHART May 2017

Back on May 15, 2015 we compiled a chart of the favourite published videos from the Whispering Bob Broadcasting Company with artists performing for The Under The Apple Tree Sessions (UTAT; a Media Entertainment Platform).
The 236 published videos generated 273,793 views on YouTube.

Coming out on top of the Apple Tree at Nos 1 & 2 were the hot UK country duo The Shires (Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes) who were out in front at No.1 with their UTAT cover of Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free” with a total of 19,231 views during its 298 days. It was followed at #2 by a live performance of their Radio 2 playlisted single “Tonight” which logged 12,011 views in 301 days.

The Under The Apple Tree Sessions
Back in April 2015 BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris (OBE) stated that he along with his media savvy son Miles Myerscough-Harris had filmed more than a hundred sessions and posted them on their WhisperingBobTV YouTube channel and on the WBBC site
WhisperingBobTV brings you weekly live sessions recorded ‘Under The Apple Tree‘ at their beautiful Apple Tree Studio.

Guests join them in the studio to perform special versions of their best songs, along with covers of the first songs they learnt to play.
Just outside their studio is an apple tree that overhangs it and in fact every now and again there will be a loud clunk the other side of the ceiling where an apple has dropped off the tree else there will be scratching where squirrels are running across the roof! “It can be a little bit annoying when your recording" shared Bob and Miles in the inaugural #UnderTheAppleTree podcast!

Latest Under The Apple Tree Sessions Chart

We have now updated the chart and as of May 3, 2017 there are now 523 published UTAT session videos which have generated over 1-million views (1,003,463) on YouTube.
We have logged the published dates and total number of views compiling an exclusive chart sorted in “most viewed” and showed the number of days since the videos were uploaded.
As anyone in the world with Internet access can view the YouTube videos without having to be subscribed to a Social Media network this is the most accurate way to compile the stats.
Things have now changed in that some of the videos are also published on WhisperingBobTV Facebook page which generate additional 1000s of views which can be shared by the artists or fans but these figures are hard to determine so are not included in the chart calculation but based purely on the number of YouTube views.

Coming out on top on the new chart are The Shires who remain at #1 with a new tally of 52,859 adding a further 33.6K views for the cover of Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free” (first published on July 7, 2014).
Their live performance of their Radio 2 playlisted single “Tonight” has dropped down from 2-5 having now logged 35,533 views in 1020 days.

At No.2 with 51,774 views in just 84 days is Colter Wall performing a live acoustic version of his song “Thirteen Silver Dollars” (published on 8 Feb 2017)

Additional at No.4 with 40,352 views in 87 days Colter Wall posts his live acoustic version of his song 'Codeine Dream' (>> published Feb 5, 2017)

A native of Swift Current, Saskatchewan Canada, Colter Wall's sound is described as “comprised of resonate and raw baritone vocals, folk and bluegrass style guitar and banjo picking, steady kick-drum stomping, and visually provoking, storytelling lyrics”. Since debuting in 2015 with the release of his EP, Imaginary Appalachia, WALL has received overwhelming acclaim - Steve Earle declared: "Colter Wall is bar-none the best young singer-songwriter I've seen in twenty years," while Rick Rubin, who signed Wall to his American Songs publishing company, proclaimed, "Colter sings and writes songs in ways seemingly lost in time. There is an agelessness about him so unusual in someone so young." Additionally, Wall’s song, "Sleeping On The Backtop," was recently featured on the soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated film, HELL OR HIGH WATER (UK iTunes).
The track has gone on to garner over one million streams on Spotify. His anticipated self-titled full-length debut will be released May 12. (iTunes)

At No.3 with 43,776 views in 1031 days is Canadian singer songwriter Tia McGraff with 'Long Long Time‘ (Linda Ronstadt cover; published on July 7, 2017). Tia is currently touring the UK.

  • If you are an artist who has appeared on an UTAT session take a look at where you figure on the chart.
  • Should your exclusive video have been viewed a lot more?
  • Could you share it more across social media on Facebook and Twitter?
  • Have you embedded it on your website or newsletter?
  • Could you use it as part of an EPK to help secure tour gigs?
  • Many of the artists who have taken part in the Under The Apple Tree Sessions have gone on to play the Pop Up Stages at the C2C Country To Country Festivals at the O2 Arena.

An example is Pop/ Soul Victoria Canal, an 18-year-old Spanish-American singer/songwriter whose beautiful live acoustic version of her song 'Forget My Love' (>> published 30/03/2017) received 412 Views on YouTube. Shared on Facebook it has received 39K Views and has had over 450 shares!
