One needs to look a little way down the Top 200 Billboard Chart placing this week to find the Top selling country album. Despite a sales dip of 31%, selling 14,863 copies was enough to head off the competition as once again
Lady Antebellum’sOWN THE NIGHT” retains its top of the charts status.
Alt-country cover band The Little Willies (featuring Norah Jones) made their debut on the SoundScan Top Country Albums chart with their sophomore release FOR THE GOOD TIMES which was BBC Radio 2’s Album of The Week last week. Fans of the band took home 7,690 copies in America to land a #45 position on the Top 200 securing a Top 10 with a # 9 best selling Country Album.

Scotty McCreery sees “CLEAR AS DAY” dropped down to #34 and a #5 Country album position with a sales loss of 28% selling 9,908 albums. Rodney Aktins was the lone country artist to buck the trend as his album TAKE A BACK ROAD made 7% gains and sales of 3,206 and a #146 Top 200 placing.

With sales of 13,972 (-18 sales drop) Luke Bryan’s TAILGATES & TANLINES has moved up one place on the Top 200 becoming the #2 Country album.
Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup”, country music’s hottest digital single has now reached Platinum (million) standing with another 119,378 downloads to take it to 1,112,618. Toby’s album CLANCY'S TAVERN has sold nearly 369,000 copies to date. Tim McGraw has moved up 6 spots on the Top 200 with his collection NUMBER ONE HITS. He could well storm the charts with his new album EMOTIONAL TRAFFIC next week.
The Band Perry who made a flying visit to the UK this week show that sales of their self titled debut continue to hold up well moving another 13,103 (5% sales drop) and are nearing  the 1.1 million albums sold mark.

One of 2011’s Ones to Watch, Hunter Hayes is having success with his single Storm Warning”, it's nearing Gold-selling ranking. His self titled debut sold 2,592 copies (-6% loss) with a total of nearly 72, 000.

Martina McBride’s single “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” has entered the Top 10 Hot Country songs chart and it will be interesting to see how well her HITS AND MORE package (an expanded version of her 2001 HITS album), with 3 new songs, will sell next week. In comparison to her single, her album sales are certainly not what they once were.

EMI Records Nashville’s Eric Church is celebrating as he kicks off the new year with a career first – “Drink In My Hand” (co-written by Eric Church, Michael P. Heeney, and Luke Laird) from his critically acclaimed album, CHIEF, topping the Country radio charts.

The number one single joins a string of career firsts and accolades for Church including his first GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album of the Year, CHIEF debuting at the top of the Billboard Top 200 and spending two weeks at No. 1 on the Country albums chart with a Gold certification by the RIAA for CHIEF after only 10 weeks.
"This is the 10th single we have released to radio," explains Church. "It is truly the greatest example of belief, dedication, determination and plain old hard work that we have achieved this milestone.  I can't thank the EMI staff and country radio enough for making this happen and believing in the music, but  the real gratitude must go to our fans.  I've heard countless stories from hundreds of fans of how they have gone above and beyond to get our songs heard and demand that people pay attention to what's going on in our world.  I can't think of a better way to kick off a tour!"
