Yes it’s so hard to choose favourites. Here are some of mine that include some well-known names but some Independent artists that may be new to you. I hope you like em’.
Happy Valentines to romantics everywhere.

Australian Love
Gina Jeffreys “Angel” – Divine intervention leads a heart to another. Youtube

American Love
Suzy Bogguss – “You Never Will” Youtube
Written by Suzy Bogguss, Doug Crider and Steve Dorff and taken from the 1993 release SOMETHING UP MY SLEEVE. This exquisite forlorn lament portrays a wish to hold onto a love but with a harsh realization that it’s to late.

Someday you're gonna love me, I'll see it in your eyes, When I held you in the darkness
I could believe those lies, Now the sun is up it's morning, And you don't love me still
It finally dawned on me, you never will

Julie Ingram  “Always Remember” (I Love You) -    Youtube
This glamorous lady hails from Dallas, Texas and this was her title cut released in October 2010. This sentimental heart-felt ballad was penned by, Frank Wainwright, about losing dear friends before getting a chance to talk to them.  Sam Levine adds warmth and style to it with saxophone as Julie softly sings her message of a special love for finding or remembering fondly a person to relate to be it family or friend to share feelings in good or those times.

Kathy Mattea “The Summer of My Dreams” –   Youtube
On my favourite vocal performances by Kathy from her sixth studio album TIME PASSES BY released in 1991. Written by Maine-based David Mallett, for him, songs are more than just poetic words set to a melody. “[Songs] are conversations that I have with the world,” he said. “They’re three or four-minute observations”

And as the sun sets down before me, I see my true love waiting for me
Standing by the back porch screen, In the summer of my dreams

Reba McEntire “Forever Love” -   Youtube
This beautiful love song written by Liz Hengber, Deanna Bryant and Sunny Russ was the second single from her album, IF YOU SEE HIM.When she performed it live in London it was the highlight of the BBC Radio 2 Easter 2000 Country Festival.

It was the soundtrack to ttelevision movie about a woman who awakens from a 20-year-long coma and begins her life all over again. Reba plays the part of Lizzie Brooks. In the drama, suggested by a true story, Lizzie and Alex Brooks are a fairy tale young couple, wildly in love and the parents of a little girl, Emma.
Then, without warning, 24-year-old Lizzie suffers a stoke. At the hospital, doctors tell Alex that his young wife has slipped into a deep coma and there is nothing to do but wait to see if she comes out of it.

Minutes and hours and years may go by. But my heart knows nothing of time.
So don't cry, just keep me right there. In your dreams. And hold on to these words of mine.
Forever love. I promise you. Someday we'll be together.
Forever love. I won't give up. No matter what. I'll be waiting for you. Forever love

JoDee Messina “Because You Love Me” -   Youtube
The song written by Kostas and John Scott Sherrill has a double message and can be interpreted as the deep love in a relationship between a man and a woman or finding a faith to praise a love from beyond the blue. It was the firth single was taken from Jo Dee’s second album in 1998, I'M ALRIGHT. In 1999 it peaked at #8 on the Billboard Country Chart.

Allison Moorer - A Soft Place To Fall (Allison Moorer; Gwil Owen) - Youtube
This touching ballad from her ALABAMA SONG album from 1998 was my introduction to her music and made me pay a visit to the cinema to watch her cameo performance in Robert Redford's movie The Horse Whisperer. Robert and Kirstin Scott-Thomas share a very romantic moment, move in close, with a slow dance in this touching barn dance scene.

Lisa O’Kane “ All The Way With You” - Listen
Lisa grew up in California's, Yosemite Valley in the town of Fish Camp (population 36), where she and her two siblings were the only kids around. Lisa loved singing and listening to old Hank Williams and Bill Monroe songs on her mom's radio as much as she enjoyed clambering over rocks and streams.
This is Lisa’s version of John Prine's "All The Way With You" taken from her album AM I TOO BLUE from 2002, a great song, sung to perfection!

For every kiss I’ll kiss you back a 100 times

UK Love

“BE MY VALENTINE”

Jackie Sharkey - The West Donegal based singer songwriter has the perfect song for 14 Feb with this release from 2011. Available for Download:

Debbie Nunn “Bubbles” –  Youtube  - Amazon.uk
A song with a sweet Christian message in which Debbie wraps herself up in “bubbles of love” and gives thanks to Jesus for a faith renewed. This superb video was shot by Rob Wyatt at the Abbey Studios in London during in March 2010

Belle Cannon “Cornerstone” – It’s taken from REWIND the debut album. Belle is innovative Country music singer songwriter from London born into a prolific Irish American musical family based in Galway. Her original material crosses the boundaries of traditional country, merging influences from Bluegrass, Honky-Tonk, Pop & Rock into a refreshing musical blend that is immediately memorable. The album recorded in Nashville features Grammy Award winning session musician Brent Mason on guitar.
This gently, mid-paced track has within its structure some Spanish guitar and mandolin flavours. As the films rolls slowly by on life’s landscape more grit is added with the addition of tight piano and electric guitar riffs with steadfast rhythms. With a heartfelt plea to a lover, the singer is ready to commit and put down foundations:
I’ll put my faith in you / I’ll give to you my heart, if you ask me too
