2013, 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards Nominees

On Wednesday night (Dec. 5, 2012) the Grammy Nominations Concert, was broadcast live on CBS TV for the first time from Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena.

The diversity of music was celebrated at The 2013 Grammy Awards Nominations as six different artists tied for top nominee — Kanye West, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and fun lead the field with six GRAMMY nominations each.

For British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons, which made an auspicious debut in front of an international audience during the 2011 Grammys, are up for Album of the Year for BABEL, one of Billboards 2012's best-selling releases.

LL Cool J returned as host, sharing duties with Taylor Swift. They opened the show by putting together a beat-box version of Swift's hit "Mean.

Taylor’s smash hit hit song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" earned a nod in the jam-packed Record of the Year category.

Taylor was joined by fun., Gotye, Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," The Black Keys' "Lonely Boy" and Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You."

Hunter Hayes was announced as a Best New Artist and Best Country Solo Performance nominee. He also scored a nomination in the Best Country Album category, giving him more nominations (three) than any other country star, except Swift who also picked up a nod in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.

The young enterprising singer-songwriter Hunter showed his versatility while announcing the Best Pop Vocal album.He began with Kelly Clarkson‘s ‘Stronger,’ them included Florence and the Machine’s ‘Ceremonials,’ fun.’s ‘Some Nights,’ ‘Overexposed’ by Maroon 5 and Pink’s ‘The Truth About Love,’ in a brief set accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. “The “Wanted” singer Hayes cracked a self-deprecating joke beforehand, apologizing to all the artists for taking liberties with their songs!

Dierks Bentley and The Band Perry kicked off the Grammy Nominations Concert performing Johnny Cash songs including a rollicking tribute to the legendary Man in Black, Johnny Cash. They delivered a rocking version of the classic hit ‘Jackson.’ Dierks rough-and-ready vocals and Kimberly’s spirited and saucy delivery were the vocal pairing with Reid and Neil Perry adding some crystal-clear harmonies and instrumental support. Bentley often covers ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ in his live show and together with bluegrass group The Grascals has recorded the tune.

Luke Bryan gave an  energetic rendition of his hit single ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End’ as a shower of glitter confetti fell on the audience as he encouraged them to sing part of the final chorus.

This year's GRAMMY Awards process registered more than 17,000 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period (Oct. 1, 2011 – Sept. 30, 2012).

GRAMMY ballots for the final round of voting will be mailed on Dec. 19 to the voting members of The Recording Academy.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on GRAMMY Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Trophies will be handed out in 81 categories
