Queens of the Stone Age earned its first No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 (BB200). The group's new album, . . . LIKE CLOCKWORK, opens atop the list with 90,993 copies sold (50,408 Physical + 40,185 Digital copies) in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It’s the first album by a hard rock band to reach #1 since Disturbed’s Asylum opened in the top spot in September 2010. Rock band, Black Sabbath, is expected to debut at #1 next week!
Blake Shelton's BASED ON A TRUE STORY in its 11 week on the chart rose one rung to No. 4 this week on the BB200 and remained at No.1 on Top Country Albums for the sixth week. It’s the longest run for an album by a male solo artist since Scotty McCreery’s CLEAR AS DAY spent six weeks on top in 2011. Shelton’s album sold 36,418 copies (20,836 Physical + 15,582 Digital copies) down 13% for a new tally of 624,515.
Darius Rucker's TRUE BELIEVERS climbed 6-5 on the BB200 remaining No.2 on the Country album rankings. In his 3rd chart week he sold 33,447 copies (25,549 Physical + 7,898 Digital copies), down 18%, with a total of 157,991 to date.
Lady Antebellum with GOLDEN in their 5th week at retail have now past the 300K mark selling another 20,053 copies (down 17%, total 301,792)
LeAnn Rimes’ Spitfire debuted at No.36 on the BB200. It’s her ninth (non-holiday) studio album to be released in the U.S.—and her lowest-charting to date. (Jefferson Starship had a #3 album titled Spitfire in 1976. That was six years before Rimes was born.).
LeAnn’s eleventh studio album is the only new release to debut inside the Top 25 as Rimes opens at No. 9 with Hot Shot Debut honours on Top Country Albums, as Spitfire, her final album on Curb, starts with 10,780 copies sold (4,965 Physical + 5,815 Digital copies)
The title is her first album of original material to reach the list since FAMILY debuted at No. 2 in 2007 with 74,000. Her Vince Gill-produced covers set LADY & GENTLEMAN, debuted and peaked at No.32 (BB200) and No. 7 (Country) with 12,155 units sold on the chart October 5, 2011. The album featured many interpretations of classic ‘gentlemen’ affiliated country songs and a couple of new tracks like “Crazy Women” and new single “Give.”
“Spitfire” posts Rimes’ smallest opening week ever with a set of new, non-seasonal material, and it’s her first to open outside of the top five on the country chart. Her prior track record on Top Country Albums includes 10 top five debuts, five of which started at No. 1
“Spitfire” was first released in the United Kingdom and Australia on April 15, 2013 by Curb Records via digital download and a CD release followed in the United Kingdom on April 22, 2013 which debuted at No.3 on The Official UK Country chart.
So far promoting the album LeAnn Rimes has made several TV appearances including The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (NBC) , The Wendy Williams Show and Chelsea Lately (E!).
Billboard writes: A single song, “I Do Now,” tells the listener all the basics of LeAnn Rimes’ emotional journey. She cites the gut-wretching infidelity at the core of Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart” and the dogged disappointment in Merle Haggard’s alcohol-soaked “The Bottle Let Me Down,” then sings—with great feistiness—“I didn’t know what they meant back then/But I do now.
In Spitfire—her final album for Curb, due June 4—the difference is stark. She sings in a musical setting with classic country overtones, addresses her personal mistakes and delivers it all with quite believable emotion. “I Do Now” is the thumbnail version of the entire project. “I looked at that song as part one, part two [and] part three of her life, all rolled into one song,” says songwriter/producer Darrell Brown, who co-wrote nine of the 13 titles on the album.
Spitfire is Rimes’ disarmingly honest attempt at introducing her real self to a public with very divided opinions about her.

Allmusic (Rating: 4 STARS) Her last album for Curb, and possibly buried because of it, Spitfire sputtered out of the gate in 2013, appearing first on various digital services -- first in Europe and Australia, then in the U.S. -- before popping up in America as a physical Walmart exclusive halfway through the year. It's unfortunate that the release of Spitfire is so confused, as it's one of her better records, seizing the same adventurous spirit of 2011's Vince Gill-produced Lady & Gentlemen but going further.....It's not perfect -- it's too long, its sequencing is haphazard -- and yet all the music on Spitfire resonates, every song suggesting an avenue Rimes could pursue the next time out.

Taste Of Country (Rating: 4 STARS) ...Songs that are so real it’s almost uncomfortable? Check. One-of-a-kind vocals and a total command of the microphone? Check. An soul-baring album that rips apart your heart? Check. Social drama leading to name-calling and abandonment by country radio? Check. Rimes isn’t quite the pariah Natalie Maines and company are, but she certainly has a passionate group of haters.....‘Spitfire’ is a fascinating album, and at times one feels like a voyeur listening to it. It’s like breaking into your sister’s dresser drawer and finding her diary, but high-quality songwriting keeps it from resembling a childish tabloid. With everything she’s been through these last few years, Rimes never stepped away from the spotlight like so many (John Mayer) do when the media turns on them. It’s not a stretch to say that the music, and specifically these songs, gave her the strength continue her career at full speed.
Outside on the Top 25 country albums saw Lonestar’s new album LIFE AS WE KNOW IT (4 Star Records), released in America on June 4th, make its debut at No.148 on the Billboard 200 and a No.33 slot on The Country Album chart. Its first week sales were 2,845 copies, which given their mega-million-selling history, seems a surprisingly feeble chart entry.
To celebrate the release of the new album, LONESTAR (Michael Britt, lead guitar & backing vocals); Richie Mcdonald (lead vocals & piano); Keech Rainwater (drums); and Dean Sams (keyboards and b.vocals) were to perform a free New York City show on Friday, May 31 as part of "Fox & Friends" All American Summer Concert Series. The band were also slated to be in Nashville for CMA Fan Fair week, making several appearances, signings and performances. On Weds June 5, they were due to perform an acoustic set at the 6th annual GAC Kick-off Breakfast at the Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum.

GAC - Lonestar not only produced Life As We Know It themselves, but they’re also set to release it through their own 4 Star Records. Pair that with the quartet writing nine of the album’s 12 songs and the foundation here is one of complete artistic freedom. The result is in many ways a return to form for the group that notched nine No. 1 singles through the late ’90s and early ’00s... This sort of drama and emotion, packed into each new passage, showcases a skilled group of musicians with an undeniable chemistry, and on Life As We Know It, that’s a welcome note for fans waiting on new material.
Allmusic (Rating: 2.5 STARS) - Life as We Know It is a secular album through and through, celebrating good times with good friends, indulging the notion that it's just fine to "Party All Day" and enjoy "Life as We Know It"... Elsewhere, the digital gloss is merely amiable, the kind of music that could be heard piping through any store in a mall -- not quite holding true to the band's pop-country roots but certainly finding space within the confines of modern crossover country.
Roughstock (Rating: 4 Stars) - Life As We Know It is a strong collection of songs from Lonestar. One that gives the band's fans an exciting look into the new chapter in the band's career with their own label (4Star Records) and renewed energy towards crafting another 20 years in the business. This album is a very good start towards those next 20 years.

Noted DJ/remixer/producer Dee Jay Silver announced the June 4th release date of his “eagerly anticipated” EP, titled COUNTRY CLUB. The four-song EP features country mash-ups of some of the format's most popular and beloved stars, including Alabama, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Jake Owen, and Love and Theft.
The EP made its bow at No.67 on the country chart selling 746 copies

Of note Jason Isbell the alt-country singer /songwriter/guitarist from Muscle Shoals, Alabama has flagged up on Billboard Inde album chart at No.145 selling 637 copies (552 vinyl) for his new solo album titled SOUTHEASTERN.
This album should impact more next week with its digital release on June 11 via Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers.
Southeastern contains 12 new Isbell compositions and the most personal songs of self-reflection and discovery he has written to date. By no means is Southeastern a wholly solemn offering. Tracks such as “Stockholm” (with Kim Richey) and “Traveling Alone” (with Amanda Shires) offer laid back tempos and memorable choruses, while “Flying Over Water” and “Super 8” are strong reminders of Isbell’s deep roots in rock.

NPR All Things Considered Jason Isbell: A 'Southeastern' Songwriter's Path To Sobriety...Extract: There are a few things worth knowing about singer-songwriter Jason Isbell: The round softness of his speech comes from his roots in rural Alabama. He has lyrics from a Bob Dylan song inked on his forearm.
He got his musical start with the hard-charging alt-country and Southern-rock band Drive-By Truckers, and during those years, Isbell was drunk on stage — pretty much every time. By the end of a show, Isbell figures he'd have drunk a fifth of Jack Daniels.
He says his drinking brought him "close to the point of no return." But now, at 34, Isbell says he's sober and newly, giddily married to singer-songwriter and fiddler Amanda Shires...Listen to the interview

American Songwriter (Rating 4.5/5 stars) - "This album is harrowing and not for the timid, but those who stick with it will be treated to a truthful, moving journey and a master class in songwriting to boot."
Paste Magazine (rating 9/10) - An album worthy of his considerable talents. Each of the songs is a stunner.
Allmusic (Rating: 4 STARS) - On this outing, Isbell strips things back even more, going with, for the most part, sparse, moody arrangements and songs that muse on the responsibilities of his newfound sobriety, an atonement of sorts, and they tell of lost weekends, drinking mouthwash when the alcohol ran out, and other sordid personal tragedies, all with an eye to how it seems to work out when problems are embraced, addressed, and finally owned.... The overall tone of this fine set is one of quiet and thoughtful honesty with one's life and past and the knowledge that personal redemption has to be earned again and again each and every day. It is, quite frankly, Isbell's best solo album thus far.
Saving Country Music (rating: 2 guns up) If there is such a thing as a superstar in Americana music, then right now, Jason Isbell is it. What we very well may be witnessing is a songwriting legend in the making. He’s the songwriter that in the future songwriter-philes will hearken back to as proof of how the craft is lost. He’s the guy right now making sure that it isn’t. He is the Townes Van Zandt or Guy Clark of our time ...

Sales for Gretchen Wilson in her second week for her new set UNDER THE COVERS were 1,630; up by 33%, for a 2-week total of 2,857 and thus moved 45-40 on the country chart. This was helped after she appeared on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (CBS) on June 5th and The Talk (CBS) on June 6th.
Returning to the Top 75 Country Bilboard chart were Love and Theft's self-titled album (No. 70; 79,403 copies sold to date) and Granger Smith's Dirt Road Driveway (No. 72; 7 week total of17,216).
Meanwhile The Henningsens fell of the Top 75 with their new self titled 4 track EP which sold a mere 340 copies, down 68% for a 2-week total of 1,399. This is despite the fact their Arista Nashville single “American Beautiful” is in the Top 20 on Billboard Country Airplay (#17) and received nearly 3,000 weekly radio spins by BDS tracking stations.
John Fogerty’s rock album WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE which has country credentials moved 3-14 on the Billboard Top 200 selling 21,551 copies (down 58%, 2 week total 72,870)

The Legend Of Johnny Cash jumps from #87 to #77 in its 121st Billboard top 200 week and 42nd on the Catalog chart. The album jumped to #1 on Top Catalog Albums selling 5,173 copies, up 13% (2,974,920 total) which makes it Cash’s second album to top that chart. 16 Biggest Hits logged 26 weeks at #1 from 2003 to 2006.
George Jones’ SUPER HITS, 22 weeks on the chart, is at No.3 with sales of 4,794 (down 6%, total 2,299,381) whilst Blake Shelton’s THE BEST OF.. has the No.6 slot (57 week total of 732,301).

TV exposure accounted for much of the energy on Hot Country Songs, led by Digital Gainer and Streaming Gainer nods for Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” (Republic Nashville), which benefits from a performance on the June 5 CMT Music Awards. With its second-best digital week so far (225,000 downloads, up 15%), the duo performed the song with rapper Nelly on the show. The best sales frame for “Cruise” was 248,000 on the April 20 chart, which reflected first-week sales of the Nelly remix. The duo snares the streaming spike with 3.2 million total streams, up 14%, according to Nielsen BDS.
“Cruise” dominates Hot Country Songs for a 15th week, the most chart-topping weeks for any song in the past 50 years on the chart.
Cassadee Pope the Third-season “The Voice” champ returned to the NBC show on June 4 to sing “Wasting All These Tears,” her first official radio single for Republic Nashville.
The track drew Hot Shot Debut honours on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs at No. 7, marking her third straight top 10 debut as a soloist. She posted back-to-back top 10 starts last December with “Stupid Boy” (No. 4) and “Over You” (No. 3). Prior to her solo endeavors, Pope fronted Hey Monday, a pop/rock band that was active on the charts from 2008-’11. With 125,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Pope’s new track is also the highest start on Country Digital Songs, where it bows at No. 2.
The remaining seven Hot Country Songs debuts are traceable to various TV performances, including a duet version of “Home” by Blake Shelton & Usher, which they performed together on the May 29 “Healing in the Heartland” Oklahoma tornado benefit show.
The Voice (U.S. season 4) contestants posted 6 singles in the Top 50. Danielle Bradbery coached by Blake Shelton debuted at No.31 with "A Little Bit Stronger" (Sara Evans) and at No.38 with "Shake the Sugar Tree" the Pam Tillis lead-off single song from 1992 album Homeward Looking Angel.
Also on Team Blake, contestants The Swon Brothers charted with covers of “Wagon Wheel” and “Okie From Muskogee” whilst Amber Carrington (who has now left the show) coached by Adam Levine bowed with “Crazy” (Patsy Cline).

Billboard Country Airplay Chart Week of June 22, 2013
Tim McGraw (with Taylor Swift) surpassed the weekly Country Airplay audience record set last week with “Highway Don’t Care” (Big Machine), which holds at No.1 for a second week. The McGraw-Swift collaboration gained a further 325,000 impressions for a record-rewriting 41.612 million total impressions, received 6,430 plays (-29) during the June 3-9 tracking week.
For McGraw, “Highway” is the 19th of his 26 career leaders to spend more than one week atop the Country Airplay chart. Remarkably, McGraw’s first 12 No.1s each spent multiple weeks atop the chart (1994-2001). His longest run was seven cumulative weeks with “Live Like You Were Dying” nine years ago. Swift’s Country Airplay chart history includes seven leaders, the first four of which logged multiple weeks at the summit (2007-09). She most recently posted multiple No.1 weeks with “You Belong with Me,” which ruled for two weeks in the summer of 2009.
Zac Brown Band brought its top 10 count to 12 on Billboard’s Country Airplay tally, as “Jump Right In” (Atlantic/Southern Ground) steps 11-10 in its 18th chart week. The song written by Zac Brown, Wyatt Durette and Jason Mraz was first released by Atlantic on Feb 25, 2013.
That’s the most Top 10s by any group since Zac Brown Band’s first top 10 week on the chart dated Nov. 1, 2008, followed by 9 apiece for Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts, six for The Band Perry and three for Little Big Town during that time frame. Since the Nielsen BDS-fueled Country Airplay chart launched in January 1990, Zac Brown Band has the seventh-most top 10s among groups.
The list is topped by Rascal Flatts (28), followed by Alabama (24), Diamond Rio (19), Lonestar (18), Dixie Chicks (14) and Sawyer Brown (14). Behind ZBB are Lady Antebellum (10), Shenandoah (10) and Little Texas (8).
Brown’s group most recently led the chart with “Goodbye in Her Eyes,” which spent three weeks at the summit in January. The act has missed the top 10 only once since its breakthrough single, “Chicken Fried,” became its first No.1 almost five years ago: It stopped at No.11 with “The Wind” last fall. All but two of the band’s top 10 singles spent time at No.1, the exceptions being “Whatever It Is,” which peaked at No.2 four years ago, and “No Hurry,” which also stopped at No.2 last year. Its longest chart-topping run was four weeks with “Keep Me in Mind” in December 2011/January 2012.
Luke Bryan at No. 4 with "Crash My Party" won the weeks Most Increased Audience honours with a 36.492 million audience (+4.810); receiving 5,493 plays up by 599.
Florida Georgia Line at No.29 with “Round Here” snagged the “Most Added” cup with 26 Radio ADDS reaching a 4.595 million audience (+2.299) and gained 716 plays (+390) .
Love And Theft grabbed the “Hot Shot Debut” with their album's third single, "If You Ever Get Lonely", released to country radio on June 3, 2013 which made its bow at No.53. >> Audio

The recent CMT Music Awards gave many artists a post sales boost on the Top 30 after their appeareances on the televised awards show.
Florida Georgia Line’s record-breaking run with “Cruise” continued leading the Country Digital Singles chart for a 16th cumulative week. On its 52nd chart week it sold another huge tally with 225,227 downloads sold, up 15%, to sail past the Quadruple Platinum 4-million mark reaching a total 4,094,539. The Nelly remix version which has how sold 1,180,720 copies contributed 144,363 units to that weekly sum. It stays at No. 5 peak in its 36th week on the Billboard Hot 100 with across-the-board gains. The FGL cut tops Hot Country Songs for a 15th frame, and has become the best debut single in the digital era for any country act.
Cassadee Pope the winner of the third season of NBC's "The Voice" made her debut at No.2 with "Wasting All These Years” which also rounded out the overall Top 10 on the Digital Songs selling chart 125,011 copies. After showcasing it on her return to the show on June 4th it was immediately made available to digital retailers. This is her first official single from her a forthcoming full-length solo debut album which hasn’t as yet been granted a release date.
Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” holds the No.3 slot selling 123,432 copies, down 16% and swept past the 1-million Platinum mark with a new 11-week tally of 1,098,726.

Voice contestants The Swon Brothers’ cover of “Wagon Wheel” also debuts in the Top 30 at No.29 with sales of 22,000. For good measure outside the Top 30 the original cut of the single by the Old Crow Medicine Show sold 12,258 copies and holds the the No.48 slot (23 week total of 1,300,225). Danielle Bradbery debuts at No.24 with “A Little Bit Stronger,” the Sara Evans hit, selling 35,765 copies of her cover on “The Voice”. The Team Blake contestant also landed her Pam Tillis cover of “Shake The Sugar Tree” with 24,746 copies at No.24.
CMT co-host Jason Aldean shifted another 21,338 copies (down 6%) of “1994” in his 15th week making it eligible for Gold certification as its sales have now exceeded the ½-million RIAA mark (504,854 total) .
