Billboard Top 200 / Country Album Chart News

Beyoncé's self-titled album racked up a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (BB200), the longest run at No. 1 for any album since last April. "Beyoncé" shifted another 310,270 copies during the week ending Dec. 29 (only two days of pre-Christmas sales to account for), according to Nielsen SoundScan, down 17% compared with the previous week.
The album has now sold 1,301,392 copies in its first 17 days of release in the United States. "Beyoncé" is the first album by a woman to notch three weeks at No.1 since Taylor Swift's "Red" claimed seven weeks at the top (non-consecutively) in late 2012 and early 2013.

Garth Brooks' Walmart-exclusive boxed set "Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences" shuffled down 2-6 on the BB200 with 90,000 copies sold (down 55%) It's #1 on Billboard Top Country Albums for the fifth straight week. This is the longest that a box set has ever topped the country chart. It surpasses Brooks' "The Limited Series," which spent four weeks on top back in 1998.
The stack em’ high sell em’ cheap policy by Walmart is estimated to have made $15.4 million minus costs to create the sets, recordings and royalties for songwriters.

Kelly Clarkson's holiday album WRAPPED IN RED unspooled 5-10 with 62,000 sales (down 50%). Joining Clarkson in this year end general Christmas sleigh ride collapse is the Robertsons' DUCK THE HALLS (4-11 on the BB200 with 60,000; down 55%) which holds the No.2 place on the Country chart.

Kelly has racked up 763,000 copies sold at retail to become the best-selling holiday album of 2013 and making it the first time that an American female artist has had the year's top holiday album in the Nielsen SoundScan era. The Robertsons' album trailed by some 13,000 units at 750,000 in 9 chart weeks.

Luke Bryan's CRASH MY PARTY fell back 10-14 on the BB200 but held onto the #3 Country Album slot. With sales of 1,521,000 in 21 weeks it lands the 2013 top selling country album (second year in a row year-end top 10) . It’s one of just TWO country albums released during 2013 to sell over 1-million copies.
The other is the weeks No.6 Country set Blake Shelton's "BASED ON A TRUE STORY…" which is #9 on the all genre rankings having sold 1,109,000 copies in 40 weeks.
Florida Georgia Line with their 56 week HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIME...THIS IS HOW WE ROLL also sold 1-million units but was released in December 2012.

Taylor Swift's RED (#7 on Country Chart) released late October 2012 had amassed sales of 3,107,249 in America by January 3, 2013 alone. Her new 62-week tally is 3,963,000 adding some 856,000 copies during 2013.

On the Billboard 200 Mumford & Sons' "Babel" (very) narrowly withstood a challenge from One Direction's "Midnight Memories" to become the year's top-selling album by a British artist. It's #11 (1,096,000, on top of 1,463,000 copies sold in 2012). "Midnight Memories" also sold 1,096,000, to finish #12.

The Zac Brown at #15 on the Billboard Country chart with UNCAGED have finally passed the 1-million sales at retail. In 77 weeks since its July 10, 2012 release by Atlantic/RPM Records Uncaged has sold 1,007,000 copies. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA (based on 1-million units shipped to retail) on November 20, 2013.

Of note: On the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart introduced by Billboard in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists saw Brandy Clark with her critically acclaimed debut album 12 STORIES move back up 17-9 in her 10th chart week. The album has peaked at #2 on that chart, #23 on Billboard Country Albums and #163 on the Billboard 200.
