Nashville Bound??! Jeannine Barry, the Brighton based attractive singer/songwriter, described by UKCountryRadio.com as “extremely talented”, was on a mission. She wanted to make Country Music more popular/commercial wishing to get her and her songwriting partner/guitarist to Nashville for about 3 weeks, to record, perform and network. She WAS looking for funding of around £15,000 via indiegogo.com. “Perks” started with £5 for a Shout out via social media (Twitter or Facebook) up to a Live performance in your home for a mere £5,000! This funding duration campaign has ended (January 31, 2014 - April 01) and it raised £795 in 2 months, £14,250 short of her target. Jeannine released a much delayed (11 months) official debut EP release 'GIVE ME SOMETHING' back on 31st October 2013. Available on UK iTunes it did appear at #1192 on UK iTunes Country Album Chart but vanished. It can also be purchased on Amazon UK where it is ranked at #49,761 in MP3 Albums (was over #200K) so has picked up since sales.

UK CHART NEWS

Official UK Top 100 Album Chart (Week Ending April 12, 2014)
Johnny Cash with OUT AMONG THE STARS (Columbia) debuted at No.4 (19,347 sales). The album is Cash's highest charting studio album ever, only his 1969 live set Johnny Cash At San Quentin peaked higher, reaching #2.
More than a decade after his death, Johnny Cash scored his ninth Top 10 album - his third posthumously - with Out Among The Stars. Comprising 'lost' recordings made in 1981 and 1985, the album contains only two Cash compositions - I Came To Believe and Call Your Mother - among its 12 songs, alongside songs like Rock And Roll Shoes (a Ray Charles single penned by Brits Graham Lyle and Paul Kennerley), She Used To Love Me A Lot (a country hit for David Allan Coe) and Hank Snow's 1950 standard I'm Movin' On.
"I am thrilled to hear that Out Among The Stars has gone to Number 4 in the UK,” John Carter Cash told OfficialCharts.com. “A lot of care and attention went into restoring these recordings so that they could be released as a proper studio album, and it's great to know that Cash fans in the UK are enjoying listening to it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. To achieve this incredible chart position is a real tribute to my dad and I know he would be honoured and excited with this result."

Official UK Country Album Chart (Week Ending April 12, 2014)
Johnny Cash with OUT AMONG THE STARS (Columbia) flew in at No.1
Keith Urban with FUSE made a 17-2 leap in his 12th week
Sheryl Crow with FEELS LIKE HOME (Warner Brothers) fell 1-3 in her 15th chart week.
Dan+Shay debut at No.11 with WHERE IT ALL BEGAN (Warner Bros)

On the Hotdisc Chart (April 6, 2014 Chart)

This week saw tracks from the latest Hotdisc #184 April 2014 disc impact the charts. None of the Hotdisc big names like Ray Scott, Billy Yates and the UK mighty Hotdisc champs Hayley Oliver Band crash in at the No.1 summit. This meant it was a head to head two way battle for the top spot between M Callahan (who had spent two weeks at the summit) and Bertie Higgins, who had been runner-up for the previous 2 weeks. It was Bertie, who has been known the world over for his early 1980s hit "Key Largo", that moved past M Callahan (1-2) by a narrow margin to secure the Top 40 No.1 with "Just Another Day In Paradise."

The top five slots were bunched together with the feedback from Hotdisc CEO Stuart Cameron is that any one of the top five could potentially have bagged the #1 given a little bit of movement in their direction. But ultimately it's the DJs in Europe and beyond who decide the outcome with their ratings, which come in on a regular basis. It was they who progressively decided over 4 weeks that Bertie would eventually take the top spot applause.

Jamie O'Neal (making her debut on Hotdisc) had the Hot Shot Debut coming in at No.3 with a cover of the Juice Newton hit "The Sweetest Thing" (written by Otha Young).
Ray Scott blew in at No.4 with "Gotta Quit Drinkin'" another witty offering from him which he co-wrote with Kendal Marvel.
Billy Yates with self penned “As I Kiss My World Goodbye”, another single from the ONLY ONE GEORGE JONES, made a bow at No.6. Jeff Griffith with his composition “She’s All I Ever Drink About” at No.7 and The Hayley Oliver Band with “Bright Side Of Life” (written by Tom Paden and Carol Elliott) make up the other Hotdisc 184 debutants inside the top 10 tier.
In the British & Irish Top 10 Katie Nicholas (3-5 on the Top 40) retained her #1 position for a third week with the quirky "Chemistry."

D K DavisWaitin’ On The Weekend” (Bryon Hill Odie Blackmon) at #15, Ireland’s Philomena Begley & Ray Lynam’s duet “The Fire Of Two Old Flames” (Seals/ Barnes) at #16, British artist Gary Curtis with “Crazy Love” (Anthony Smith, Jeff Ross, Nicole Witt) at #17 and US artist David Starr with his own song “Underneath The Clear Blue Skies” at #19 freshened the Top 20 slots. Starr actually eclipsed his previous single on the chart “Way Past Ready, which headed south with a 12-21 move.

UK COUNTRY ALBUM / SINGLE RELEASES

Listen to Brad Paisley’s brand new single "River Bank".It’s’ a good-time country party laced with the singer’s signature guitar work and (later) some thunderous drums. The song — the first from an upcoming new album — should slide naturally into his summer set list. Why Fans Will Love It: ‘River Bank’ is typical Brad Paisley. It’s a good-time summer jam that will elicit a few chuckles. Strong songwriting leaves a lasting impression. Key Lyrics: “We got an inner tube / We got a trailer hitch / We’re near the river and far from rich / But we have got each other and gas in the tank / We’re laughing all the way to the river bank”

  • LA Times: Emmylou Harris recalls her 'magical' album 'Wrecking Ball'..Harris channeled her mold-breaking bent into the 1995 album, including her choice of producer-collaborator: Daniel Lanois. "Wrecking Ball" is due out April 8 in a deluxe three-disc set; the first is a remaster of the original album, the second a disc with bonus material including unreleased songs and alternate takes, and the third is a DVD containing a making-of documentary. Beyond that, Harris and Daniel Lanois are doing a limited tour in support of the reissue, a rarity in the world of vintage recordings. "Wrecking Ball" , which peaked at No.94 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, was a bold departure from her country music base of operation — a sonic collaboration with producer, instrumentalist and songwriter Lanois, then best known for his work on U2's "The Joshua Tree." It felt and sounded like nothing that had ever come out of Nashville. As a result, the country audience didn't know what to make of it, and country radio programmers ignored it, although Harris' core following took to it over time it has since sold 365,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it Harris' second-best seller (behind "Red Dirt Girl" in 2000) of the era since SoundScan began tracking retail sales in 1991. For Harris, it arrived shortly after she'd left her two-decade home at Warner Bros. Records and signed with Asylum, which tried to reconnect her with the country mainstream with the 1993 predecessor to "Wrecking Ball," "Cowgirl's Prayer." …"They really tried with 'Cowgirl's Prayer,' and that was a good record," she said. "But it was obvious after all their effort that country radio was not interested in me — I was too old, or whatever.".....Read more

He was pulled over when officers saw his Ford Explorer weaving all over the road and running into the curb. TMZ reports the songs in question on the radio while Sims was in the car were: "All About Tonight" by Blake Shelton and FGL’s "This Is How We Roll"!
