"‘A Little More Summertime’ really hit me the first time I heard it," said Aldean. "It's always been about the vibe of a song for me. So when that chorus hits and the song takes off, I knew it had to be on this album."

Aldean joined iHeartRadio to talk about meaning behind his brand new song:

Written by Jerry Flowers, Tony Martin and Wendell Mobley, Aldean has teamed up with longtime producer Michael Knox for the track and forthcoming album. With the same band on-and-off stage for a full decade, THEY DON’T KNOW returns with a crowd-pleasing array of emotions and observations, from sizzling party-starters to hard-earned heartbreak. With the new music, the coveted ACM Triple Crown winner reveals lessons learned and confidence gained over the course of a career that includes more than 14 million album sales. No longer just a newcomer bringing a new energy to country music, he’s truly an established star, one of the standard-bearers of the genre.
Musically, "A Little More Summertime" is very similar to other Aldean hits and incorporates heavy guitar riffs in the chorus and verses. A steel guitar is present with a solid, up-tempo drum beat that moves the melodies along. In the verses, it's a battle for sound with just the drums and the electric guitar on two separate, but mashing tempos that add a unique blend to the song.
And if the melodies define this post-summer ballad, the lyrics match that expectation. The first verse dives straight into a regret, with Aldean setting the scene of a beach town when September hits …(Review One Country.com )

They boarded up this water town
Ain't nobody hanging 'round
Another grey September day
Was I crazy to think she'd stay

If that sun had just
Hung up in that sky
Just a little
Just a little bit longer
If those blue water waves
Could've stayed at our feet
Instead of going out with the tide
If that wind was a friend
It'd still be blowing in
Like a warm southern whisper on her
She might have stayed forever
And never ever left these arms
If only I
Had a little more summertime
I brace myself against the cold
And let her memory take hold
Stirring that old fire up
As if I don't miss her enough
