 Rural Rhythm Records is pleased to announce that Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle has been nominated in the final round for “Emerging Artist of the Year” for the 2016 IBMA AWARDS.  Awards are voted on by the professional membership of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), the trade association for the bluegrass music industry.  Results of the balloting will be revealed at the International Bluegrass Music Awards, Thursday, September 29, at the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.  

 “Aim High” is their highly anticipated follow up album and contains the #1 single “Aim High” currently on Bluegrass Today’s Weekly Airplay Chart .  The single “Aim High” has already gone #1 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart and charted at #2 the past two weeks. 

In addition, “Aim High”, debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 10 Bluegrass Album Chart  (dated Aug 20, 2016) and now has shot to # 3 this week attaining the "Greatest Gainer" achievement Chart Highlight for the week.

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) in Harrogate, Tennessee and Gulley are celebrating the successof their fourth annual Acoustic Music Week which ran from July 24th through July 29th. Acoustic Music Week with Steve Gulley & Friends was the vision of recording artist and producer 

Gulley and members of the LMU community.   “This is the fruition of a life-long dream,” says Gulley. “I’ve wanted to bring some of my award-winning musical friends to the beloved 

mountain home here in the tri-state area of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia for a long time. It’s our chance to share the musical knowledge we’ve gained over our many years of singing, playing, writing and performing all around the world.”  In this camp, world-class musicians work with participants in an intimate and friendly setting. We offer lessons in guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, bass, singing and songwriting. We welcome intermediate and advanced musicians as well as beginners.”

Our participants so far have been 7 years old to over 75 years old.  Instructors this year included:Kenny Smith – Guitar; Mike Scott – Banjo; Phil Leadbetter – Dobro; Ron Stewart – Fiddle; Adam Steffey – Mandolin; Bryan Turner – Bass; Amanda Smith - Vocals/Songwriting; Steve Gulley - Vocals/Songwriting.

Since the release of “Aim High” on July 8th Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle have been out supporting the release on their current Aim High national tour and reaching out to the bluegrass radio audience through a variety of interviews and special events.  “Aim High” was world premiered on Bluegrass Junction - SiriusXM Radio with a Track-By-Track broadcast by Kyle Cantrell earlier this month.  Currently, the single “Aim High” is # 10 on the Bluegrass Junction MOST-PLAYED TRACKS – SiriusXM Radio (July chart), and the album is # 16 on the Bluegrass Junction - MOST PLAYED ALBUMS – SiriusXM (July Chart).

Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle has been very busy since the launch of their self-titled debut album a little more than a year ago.  The group received standing ovations for both their IBMA and SPBGMA Official Showcase performances and has charted five songs from their debut album.

 “Aim High” features three Gulley co-written songs including two with his award winning co-songwriter Tim Stafford; “Deceitful Kind”, “Love Brings You Home” and “Short Life Full Of Trouble” co-written with Larry Shell and Kim Williams.  Carl Jackson co-wrote three songs for the new album, in addition to great songwriters such as Larry Cordle, Jim Rushing, Sonya Isaacs, Becky Buller, Keith Sewell and more.

 Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle includes Steve Gulley (guitar, vocals), Bryan Turner (bass, vocals), Gary Robinson, Jr. (mandolin), Matthew Cruby (banjo, vocals) and special guest Tim Crouch (Fiddle).  “AIM HIGH” builds on the band’s family heritage of strong roots in Bluegrass and Mountain Gospel and at the same time provides a new and fresh sound that further accents the STEVE GULLEY & NEW PINNACLE signature sound.

ABOUT STEVE GULLEY & NEW PINNACLE:

The Gulley family name enjoys a rich musical heritage that reaches across generations with strong roots in Bluegrass and Mountain Gospel music.  It starts with long time radio personality Don Gulley who was a founding member of the Bluegrass group the Pinnacle Mountain Boys. Don’s son, Steve Gulley, has carried on the family tradition performing for many years with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, as a founding member of Bluegrass super groups Mountain Heart and Grasstowne, as a regular featured performer at Renfro Valley and with Steve’s longtime friend and colleague Dale Ann Bradley.

Steve Gulley & New Pinnacle includes; Steve Gulley (guitar, vocals), Bryan Turner (bass, vocals),Gary Robinson, Jr. (mandolin) and Matthew Cruby (banjo, vocals). Steve Gulley certainly does not need any introduction to the Bluegrass community with accomplishments that include 16 years as a featured performer, staff musician, music director, studio manager and producer at Renfro Valley, KY.  From 1994-96 Steve was a member of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and a founding member of Mountain Heart ('98 - '06), Grasstowne ('06 - '11) and with longtime friend Dale Ann Bradley through 2014.
