On Halloween, ASCAP presented
a night of incredible treats for its 54th
Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The event brought out a who’s who of
country hitmakers and luminaries.
Bluegrass and country pioneer Ricky Skaggs (a pioneer of bluegrass and country music with 14
Grammys and more than 30 albums to his credit) was honored in song before
receiving the ASCAP Founders Award.
Garth Brooks performed “Highway
40 Blues” with Sam Bush and Justin Moses, Alison Krauss, with Jamey
Johnson and Suzanne and Sidney Cox
of the Cox Family, performed “Waitin’ for the Sun to Shine;” and Peter Frampton and Gordon Kennedy performed “My Cup Runneth Over.”
The ASCAP Founders Award is given to
songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by
inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators.
Hit songwriter Ashley
Gorley took home ASCAP Country Music
Songwriter of the Year for the third time in a
row and the fourth time in his career, for his seven chart-topping songs from
2015.
After a video salute from Carrie Underwood,
Luke Bryan and Cole Swindell the audience was treated to a Trace Adkins performance of the Gorley
#1 hit, “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
University of Kentucky men's basketball head Coach John
Calipari surprised Gorley, a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats, with remarks
and presented him with the award on stage.
Chris Stapleton was honored with the ASCAP Vanguard Award which recognizes the impact of songwriters on genres that are shaping the future of music. ASCAP Senior Creative Director Mike Sistad presented award who was an early Stapleton backer.
TJ and John Osborne, aka Brothers Osborne, performed “Stay a Little Longer,” which
received Song of the Year.
The star-studded audience enjoyed performances of ASCAP’s
top 5 country music songs of the year: “I’m Comin’ Over” by songwriter Corey Crowder and recording artist Chris Young; “Save It for a Rainy Day”
by songwriters Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi; “Gonna” by songwriter Craig Wiseman with Luke Laird; and “Nothin’ Like You” by Dan + Shay and songwriters Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley.
The ASCAP Publisher
of the Year Award was presented to Warner/Chappell
Music Publishing for publishing 18 of the most-performed ASCAP country
songs of 2015, and earned the top publisher award for the fourth consecutive
year.
ASCAP honored iHeart Radio personality Bobby Bones with its Partners
in Music Award.
Kelsea Ballerini kicked off
the evening with a performance of her hit song, “Love Me Like You Mean It.”

Country Music Awards meeting up with RaeLynn, Tristan McIntosh, plus duos Dan +
Shay, and Maddie & Tae inside the event.
For the ASCAP event, Kelsea wore a Hayley
Paige "Rooney" gown from the Red Carpet collection dress (Spring 2017 Collection). She added open
gold Marchesa heels, jewelry from David Yurman, Modern Moghul,

Marchesa clutch. She was styled by Nashville
