Last year, British songwriter Lucie Silvas presented her Nashville tempered 3rd album LETTERS TO GHOSTS, on Decca Records; a collection of 11 country inspired tracks that show Silvas’ influences after years of living in the home of country music. From foot-stomping lead single ‘Letters to Ghosts’ to the darkly upbeat ‘How To Lose It All’ Silvas juxtaposes traditional country with her own unique sound.
Born (4 Sept 1977; Kingston upon Thames) in the UK and raised, for
part of her life, in New Zealand by her Kiwi father and Scottish mother, 39-year
old Lucie Silvas grew up listening to her parents’ favourites from Ray Charles
to Nat King Cole and James Taylor to Roberta Flack. Silvas first made a name
for herself in the UK as a song-writer, writing for the likes of Will Young, Rachel Stevens and The Saturdays. She then went on to sign a
record deal with Mercury Records, which saw her release her debut album ‘Breath In’ in 2004 and
score two top ten singles with ‘What
You’re Made Of’ and the title track ‘Breathe
In.’

After releasing her follow up album ‘The Same Side,’ again for Mercury Records,
Lucie made the move to Nashville, Tennessee where she has now written and
performed with some of the biggest and the best in their fields. Silvas’
musical journey is evident on every track of ‘Letters To Ghosts,’ a record born
of sheer passion, drive and raw talent, it blends her unique sound forged over
years working as a songwriter and combines them with the more traditional
Nashville sound.

Along with the release of this album, Lucie wrote and produced the first two storyline videos – ‘Letters To Ghosts’ and ‘Villain’ – and now she releases the third, ‘Smoke,’ that closes the book on the visually striking trilogy.
Speaking to Rolling
Stone Country, Silvas said: "Writing music and singing and
performing live is something that comes naturally, but then when you get into
the world of videos and visuals – some people think like that from the very
beginning, but I was just playing music. So I was trying to think of a way I
could do it comfortably. And that was to play a role, and play this villainous
character."

article titled ANOTHER COUNTRY Lucie spoke with the UK magazine Country Music
(Anthem Publishing) in the September Issue 01 - “The thing is with country artists, lots of them don’t sound country but
because they come from that background they are already country artists in the
eyes of the industry. I’m a British artist and yet I’m immersed in the country
music scene. I never claimed to be a country artist and always felt I operated
outside of that. “I’ve not gone for that, and this album is something I made as
a labour of love, and I’ll see from here if I’ll be ready to put myself more in
the middle of country”

2000: Lucie released her first record for EMI in June 2000. It didn’t do as well as had been hoped, and a planned album, FORGET ME NOT, was put on hold. Lucie turned her attention to songwriting instead and penned hits for British artists such as Sarah Whatmore, Will Young, Gareth Gates, Rachel Stevens and Liberty X.

2004: Silvas was still singing, notably backing vocals for Judie Tzuke who helped her write her first published album, BREATHE IN, which was released on Mercury in 2004. The album went platinum as the world woke up to her talent.
2006: Silvas’ second album, THE SAME SIDE, was released two years later. Unfortunately, it
didn’t get the same response as Breathe
In, and Mercury decided to let her go.
2015: Silvas spent five years working on new material for her latest album, LETTERS TO GHOSTS. Soft-released in Sept 2015, the album is now enjoying critical success
