The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes
traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
Big Sean nabbed his second No. 1 on
the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart
(BB200), as I DECIDED. made a debut atop the list, earning 151,000 equivalent album units in the
week ending Feb. 9, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 65,000 were in traditional album
sales. I Decided. was released on Feb. 3 through G.O.O.D./Def Jam Recordings.
Big
Sean previously led the chart with his last album, 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise,
which bowed with 173,000 units and 139,000 in traditional album sales. The new
album also granted the hip-hop star his fourth top five-charting solo effort
(and as one-half of the duo Twenty88, he notched another top five set with the
act’s self-titled debut in 2016).
Lady Gaga with her JOANNE album roared
from No. 66 to No.2 with 74,000
units (up 818%) and 48,000 copies sold (up 1,054%). The former No.1 album gained
following Gaga’s Super Bowl halftime show performance on Feb. 5, where she
played six of her hits, including the Joanne single “Million Reasons.”
Reba McEntire with first inspirational
album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith &
Hope, started at No.4 with 54,000 units (52,039 from traditional album
sales). The arrival granted the country superstar her 10th top 10-charting set
on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and a 13th leader on the Top Country
Albums chart. Sing It Now also launched at No.1 on the Top Christian Albums
chart – McEntire’s first entrance on that tally.
Reba McEntire with her first faith-based
set, the double album Sing It Now: Songs
of Faith & Hope (Rockin’ R/Nash Icon/Big Machine Label Group), arrived
atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums
chart, as well as Top Christian Albums (dated Feb. 25) after it earned 54,426 equivalent
albums (52,039 were traditional pure sales)
in the week ending Feb. 9, according to Nielsen Music. This is McEntire’s 13th
leader on Top Country Albums extending her record for the most Top Country
Albums No.1s among women; Loretta Lynn follows with 10. With 26, George Strait
leads all acts.
“This is such a special project for me
personally, and I’m so thankful to see that the music is touching so many other
hearts,” McEntire told Billboard. “To see that so many fans, both old and
new, are sharing in the power of faith and hope is exciting and encouraging.”
McEntire
is the first artist to simultaneously rule Top Country Albums and Top Christian
Albums since Joey + Rory’s Hymns album (debut 68,300sales) topped both surveys
for four weeks in 2016 (the last dated April 9). Prior to Hymns, Alabama had
last doubled up when Songs of Inspiration launched atop both lists dated Nov.
11, 2006. Only two other sets scored such twofers in the past two decades: Alan
Jackson’s Precious Memories (2006) and LeAnn Rimes’ You Light Up My Life —
Inspirational Songs (1997-98).
Reba
McEntire has never been one to "rest on her laurels" (Associated
Press) and continues to prove that her strong work ethic couples well with
passion as she prepared to release Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope on
Feb 3, 2017 jointly through Nash Icon Records and Capitol Christian Music
Group. For an entertainer with an illustrious career that has elicited 35 No.1
singles, over 56 million albums sold worldwide, prestigious industry awards,
lead acting roles and brand endeavours, new is a rarity - yet an art form she
has perfected...."Music conjures up great memories and goes hand and hand
with us McEntires," said Reba. "Mama, Susie and Alice even came into
the studio with me to record 'I'll Fly Away,' all of us gathered around an old
hymnal straight from the Chockie church."
Promoting
the album Reba McEntire appeared on NBC-TV's "The TODAY Show" (Feb 6). She guest-hosted and played a game of
"Country Confessions" with co-hosts Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones.

and Hoda Kotb about her new gospel album and took the stage to perform her

on Billboard 200, selling 58,351 copies (Total sales at Sept 2016 were 202,400)

released on November 9, 2010 debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200, and at #3 on
the Top Country Albums chart, selling 64,174 copies
KEEP ON LOVING YOU (Starstruck/Valory)
released August 18, 2009, became McEntire's second album to debut at #1 on both
the Billboard Top Country Albums and Billboard 200 charts, with 95,817 copies sold its first
week.

co-produces the entire spread alongside Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus and her
band leader/musical director Doug Sisemore, resulting in a sound that straddles
southern gospel, classic country, pop and contemporary Christian with a message
that boldly lives up to its title on literally every single stirring occasion.

Positive) However, if you are a fan of
Reba, you know that this album is far from lip service. A look back into her
recording history, and you see such album cuts as “Suddenly There’s A Valley,”
“Somebody Up There Likes Me,” and “Sky Full Of Angels” – all of which contain
inspirational lyrics about drawing near to a higher power. On disc two, the
Oklahoma native loses none of her passion on the disc of
The song is a reminder that though the age might change, and life can make you
feel downtrodden to the point that clinging to the past is the last thing you
want to do, the lifeline is still there. “Angels Singin,” is another highlight,
where the singer gives thanks to the unseen forces that keep us upright when we
might not have the energy to do so. ...“There Is A God” stands as one of the most
thought-provoking lyrics on the set.

McEntire lets the lyrics tell the story about the mystery of life – and how
there simply has to be something bigger than us at play in life....The fact
that the legendary songstress has lived through life, and survived some of the
hardest knocks one can go through shows the timeless power of these songs. On
this album, McEntire demonstrates that in a manner that will touch the listener
for years to come!
My Kind Of Country (Rating: A-) Sing It Now shows that when she puts aside commercial considerations
and works with good material, she is still second to none. Despite one or two
minor missteps, Sing It Now is a great collection and hopefully a sign of the
direction that this talented lady will be going in the future.
NPR While McEntire has come a
long way from earning a nickel per show, her creative relationships with family
and Christianity are as strong as ever. "I Got the Lord on My Side,"
a song from the new album, even features a co-writing credit from McEntire's
own mother.

Sam Hunt notched his fourth Hot Country Songs No.1,
as “Body Like a Back Road” (MCA
Nashville) lifted 2-1 in just its
second week. Following its Feb. 1 release, the first single (which he co-wrote)
from his forthcoming album debuted atop Country Streaming Songs (7 million U.S.
streams, up 426%), where it’s Hunt’s fifth No.1, and topped Country Digital
Song Sales for a second week (72,000 sold, up 36%), following its first full
week of tracking.
The track’s
two-week trip to the Hot Country Songs Summit is easily Hunt’s quickest. It
passed the 15-week ascent of “Take Your Time” in 2014-15.

Songs, Zac
Brown Band with “My Old Man” (Southern
Ground/Elektra/Warner Atlantic Reprise) flew 49-10, and marked the group’s 16th top 10. It arrived at No.2 on
Country Digital Song Sales, shifting 38,000 downloads in its first frame. The
acoustic-driven track is the first single from ZBB’s May 12 studio album WELCOME
HOME, produced by Dave Cobb.

Lynch continued his winning streak on Country Airplay,
banking his fourth straight (and total) No.1, as “Seein’ Red” (Broken
Bow) gained 7% to 42.1 million in audience impressions and romped 3-1 in
its 34th week.
The song, from Lynch’s upcoming third studio album, followed
previous leaders “Mind Reader” (June 4, 2016, one week), “Hell of a Night”
(Sept.19, 2015, one week) and “Where It’s At (Yep, Yep)” (Sept. 27, 2014, two
weeks).
Luke
Bryan inked his 23rd Country Airplay top 10, and sixth from his KILL THE LIGHTS LP,
as “Fast” (Capitol Nashville) bumped 11-10 (25.6 million, up 1%). All
five of Bryan’s previous singles from Lights led Country Airplay, tying for the
most No.1s from a set and making him the only artist with five Country Airplay
leaders from two albums apiece. His “Move” topped the Nov. 12, 2016, chart (for
two weeks), following “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” (July 2, one
week); “Home Alone Tonight,” featuring Karen Fairchild (Feb. 13, two weeks);
“Strip It Down” (Oct. 31, 2015, two weeks); and “Kick the Dust Up” (Aug. 15,
2015, one week).
Bryan’s prior LP, Crash My Party, generated five Country Airplay leaders
in 2013-15 (and also produced six top 10s). It matched Blake Shelton’s Based on
a True Story …, which rattled off a quintet of No.1s in 2013-14, while Brad
Paisley established the mark with five leading songs from his aptly titled 5th
Gear in 2007-08.
