The second monthly Nashville Style Writers Round called The Round Up. The event is going to be upstairs at The Metropolitan pub, right by Westbourne Park Station, London on the 2nd of March.
Doors will be at 7:30pm and music will start 8:00pm. Just like The Blue Bird Cafe and The Listening Room Cafe in Nashville, we will encourage everyone to be quiet throughout the performances as we will endeavour to bring you some brilliant songwriters from all over the world and we want you to hear what they have to say.

What is a Writers Round:
The strict definition of a Writers Round or "In the round" is a group of songwriters in a circle taking turns singing their songs. One writer sings a song and then the next sings a song and so on. They just go around the circle playing in turn. More often the writers are actually lined up on stage in a row or "In the row". Sometimes others in the circle will add some instrumental flavour and or harmony vocals. Writers round has become the universal accepted term for either scenario.

About Laura Oakes
Laura Oakes is a British Country Music Artist who hails from Liverpool.

Coming from a huge Liverpudlian family, where everyone sings or play an instrument, it was only a matter of time before Laura caught the music bug. She jokes that her family find communicating by singing in three-part harmony just as natural as talking!

Laura started thinking about taking music a little more seriously in her teens. She learned how to play the guitar, started to write songs and after discovering Carrie Underwood and the Dixie Chicks at age 14, it was Country Music that had her heart.

Laura graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2012 with a first degree in Popular Music.

After graduating, she began recording her first single 'Don't Let It Hit Ya', which was released in September 2013 and landed in the Top 20 on the iTunes Country Chart. Her second single 'Snakes & Ladders' (shown on Sky/ Freesat on Keep It Country TV) followed in 2014 with similar success.
'There is nothing like performing live,' shared Laura, who has played shows supporting fellow country artists The Shires, Ward Thomas and Raintown. She played the C2C Country To Country Festival in 2015, released a self-titled EP (UK iTunes; June 2015) and received nominations in the Song Of The Year category for Snakes & Ladders and Female Vocalist of the Year from The British Country Music Awards and UKCountryRadio.com.
Laura’s EP Launch took place on June 25, 2015 at The Electric Carousel, London compered by Radio2Country/ BBC London’s Baylen Leonard. Review .....Overall this night was fantastic. It really brought home how incredible some of our home-grown country acts really are and it looks like we really are well on our way to building our own Nashville this side of the pond.

She has lent her voice singing harmony vocals on numerous Brit Country albums, produced by Justin Johnson and recorded at Parr Street Studios.
