Recently
following in the wax footprints of big-hitters Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton
we witnessed C2C2017 headliner Reba
McEntire unveil her new Madame
Tussauds wax figure during a soundcheck on March 7th in Las Vegas. The new Patsy Cline Museum, set to open on
April 7, has also joined forces with Madame
Tussauds Nashville to honour the late singer with her own wax figure.
Rayna Jaymes and Deacon Claybourne (portrayed by Connie
Britton and Charles Esten) from the CMT hit series, “Nashville,” will also sing
their way into the Nashville attraction when it opens this April. The leading
“Nashville” figures will be seated on a bench outside a replica of the famous Bluebird Café, giving guests the chance
to pose for a photo seated between the two stars.
The Shires (Ben Earle & Crissie Rhodes) are set to have their own exhibit in London this summer joining the waxwork ranks of Adele, Ed Sheeran and One Direction!
At
the recent C2C Country To Country 2017
Festival The Shires >> played to a
packed Indigo at The O2 crowd with
hundreds of eager fans unable to get in.
During the C2C CMA Songwriters
event at the fifth annual C2C Festival, singer/songwriter Kristian Bush surprised the U.K. duo with CMA’s Jeff Walker Global award >> saying:
"These 2 people are going
to be your exported country music into America, the future of the UK's country
music The Shires!"
BBC Four turned over 3 1/2
hours to country music programming on Friday 17th March, including the first
showing of the 60-minute documentary The
Shires: New Country, which documented the rise of The Shires, as they
launched their second album, and headed for Nashville. MY UNIVERSE, debuted and peaked at No.3 last October, becoming the
fastest selling UK country album of all time and surged 62-26 (3,200 sales)
on the Official UK Top 100 album chart while their 2015 debut BRAVE re-entered the Top 200 at No.73
(1,500 sales). BRAVE has sold 147,000 copies to date, and MY UNIVERSE 111,000,
with both albums receiving GOLD
certification from BPI, a combined total of over 1/4 million copies!.

While
Nashville-based stars dominated the C2C festival The Shires, the UKs very own Home Counties duo have outsold their
US country rivals (apart from Dolly Parton) the last few years by a country
mile.
The
Shires became the first UK country act to go Top 10 on the Official UK Album
chart in March 2015.
They
have played the Grand Ole Opry in
music city and toured with Little Big
Town in America as well as performing at Glastonbury.
In
the UK they have appeared many times on National
TV: BBC Breakfast, National Lottery Show, The One Show (twice), The Andrew
Marr show, The Graham Norton Show along with ITV's Weekend and Lorraine early
morning lifestyle and entertainment shows.
As
could be seen in BBC Four documentory The Shires signed with Dot Records in October 2016 making
music history by signing a ground-breaking record deal with Scott Borchetta the CEO of
Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group under the historic Dot Records imprint.
On
March 13, 2017 Big Machine Records announced
a restructuring of its promotion staff with former Dot Records Dir./National
Promotion Michelle Kammerer moving to BMLG
RECORDS.
Former
Dot Records artists Tucker Beathard and Carly Pearce have become Big Machine
Records artists, while former DOT artist Drake White moved to BMLG RECORDS.
Dot Records, a joint venture
between Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) and Republic Records, will not continue
and is dissolved.
Big
Machine has seen voluntary exits by The Band Perry (aiming for pop success)
and Tim McGraw who partnered wifey Faith Hill, got a richer deal at Sony.
The
future label home for DOT artists Maddie & Tae, Aaron Lewis, or Steven
Tyler (one album deal) and indeed The Shires is still unclear and unknown.
So,
despite the fact The Shires are heading for Madame Tussauds have Decca UK (The Shires UK label home)
gone into meltdown over this news?
