Country singer Daryle Singletary has died at the age of 46

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)
Country music singer Daryle Singletary died at his Lebanon home Monday at the age of 46.
Singletary, a native of Cairo, Georgia, reportedly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Monday morning (Feb 12) from an apparent blood clot at his Lebanon, Tennessee, home on the morning of February 12, 2018, according to a Taste of Country report.

ABOUT DARYLE SINGLETARY

Born: Daryle Bruce Singletary on March 10, 1971 in Cairo, Georgia.
Died: February 12, 2018 (aged 46) Lebanon, Tennessee, United States

He initially first showed awareness in music singing gospel songs beside his brother and cousins in Georgia.
During high school, Singletary took numerous vocal classes that would eventually create the foundation of one of the most sought-after voices in country.
After high school, Singletary briefly worked at a tractor supply company before moving to Nashville to pursue a music career.

Daryle Singletary rose to fame in the 90s with a string of successful hardcore country albums.
From rural Georgia, where his father was a postmaster, Singletary moved to Nashville in 1990 to pursue a music career full time.
After catching the eye and ear of his musical hero, Randy Travis, Singletary released his debut record, the self-titled DARYLE SINGLETARY (1995), which produced four Billboard Hot Country charting singles, including smash hit “I Let Her Lie,” which topped out at No.2 on the charts.

Additional hits included the 1996 single “Too Much Fun,” (#4 Hot Country songs) and 1997’s “Amen Kind of Love” (#2 Hot Country songs).

Other hit albums include 1998’s top-20 album, “AIN’T IT THE TRUTH” (#18 peak), and a pair of albums featuring some of Singletary’s favorite country songs, “THAT’S WHY I SING THIS WAY” (2002; #65 peak) and “STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART” (Feb 27, 2007; #74 peak).

His album, ROCKIN’ IN THE COUNTRY,” was released on June 9, 2009 via E1 Music.
The album included the non-charting single "Love You with the Lights On", as well as two cover versions: "How Can I Believe in You", previously recorded by Vern Gosdin on his 1984 album There Is a Season, and "Take Me Home, Country Roads", originally recorded by John Denver.

Allmusic wrote: Singletary's baritone is so rich and so expressive and soulful that he could sing the obituaries out of the newspaper.

His album THERE'S STILL A LITTLE COUNTRY LEFT (TMF x 4 LLC) was released on July 28, 2015 and Singletary sounded like a man on a mission with this 11-song set which was his first release since 2009’s Rockin’ in the Country. With his 2015 album, Daryle remained true to his roots, which he described as “hardcore country traditionalist.”

“When I moved to Nashville in 1990, I left Georgia telling my Daddy, ‘I want to make my living in country music,’” Daryle said. For him, country music meant the kind of traditional country he grew up listening to. Each selection on There’s Still A Little Country Left harkened back to Country at its core. Daryle took a no-holds-barred approach to the subject as well, underscoring his theme with the album’s opening number, “Get Out of My Country.”
“My fans are not fans of the bro-country movement, which doesn’t bother me a bit,” he said. “They’re people who like it real, and that’s what I give them.”
"Daryle Singletary might just be my favorite country singer to have emerged from the 90s…" - Duncan Warwick, Country Music People Magazine

Rhonda Vincent, who The Wall Street Journal dubbed “The New Queen of Bluegrass,” teamed up with country sensation Daryle Singletary for a 12-track critically acclaimed duets album, AMERICAN GRANDSTAND (Label: Upper Management; Amazon UK - Amazon.com - UK iTunes - US iTunes)   , which dropped July 7, 2017.  The project delivered real traditional country music with a unique American twist.

“I’ve always loved singing with Daryle Singletary. He’s one of the greatest singers in this generation of country music,” said Vincent. “It’s so fun to sing with someone who challenges me as a singer. The songs were given great thought, along with one that was totally unexpected. It’s one of the best projects I’ve ever been part of. I am so proud of this recording, and I cannot wait for the world to hear our wonderful creation, American Grandstand.”

Music buyers took a stand to show that Traditional Country Music hadn’t gone anywhere when it landed its first week on Billboard’s Top Current Country Albums chart at No.10. It was also No.1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and No.1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album Chart for the week of July 29, 2017.
It fell short of the consumption-based Billboard Top 200 and Billboard Top 50 Country Album Charts but with pure sales of 3,060 copies sold it was ranked at #51 on Top 200 Album Sales and #10 on Country Album Sales lists.

Not since George & Tammy and Conway & Loretta had there been a vocal duet performance like Rhonda Vincent & Daryle Singletary. “The New Queen of Bluegrass” Rhonda Vincent and country hitmaker Daryle Singletary shared their thoughts as they celebrated being at the top of the charts!

Daryle said, “I just want to say how excited Rhonda and I are on the chart debut of American Grandstand

We really didn’t know what to expect, but this CD has charted way beyond our expectations and we can’t say thanks enough to every single person that supported our efforts and purchased the new duet project. God Bless Country music and Country music fans. We love ya’ll!!”
“This is so special! I don’t know what makes me happier, #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts or a Top 10 Album on the Current Country charts!” said Rhonda.

Recently Mr. Singletary was honoured to be a part of the Mel Tillis memorial service which celebrated his life and music.
He is survived by his wife, Holly; two sons, Jonah and Mercer; two daughters, Nora and Charlotte, as well as his parents and siblings.
Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Friends and fellow country singers were quick to pay tribute to Singletary.
