UK CHART NEWS
Official UK Top 100 Singles Chart (Week Ending 12 July 2018)
6 July 2018 - 12 July 2018
The Singles Chart will be 66 in four months but instead of retiring, it takes on a new, more radical shape this week, with the incorporation of video streaming and an adjustment to audio stream conversion rates making it more fit for purpose.
Despite these radical changes – which value both audio and video streams on subscription services at 1/100th of a sale and on ad-funded services at 1/600th of a sale – there was no change at the top of the chart, with George Ezra’s Shotgun blasting us into the new era, just as it fired the final shots of the old era.
Shotgun’s consumption was up 41.51% week-on-week to 75,986 units (19,547 sales + 56,439 streaming points). With more physical sales (1,415 copies on 7-inch), more paid-for downloads (18,132) and more audio and video streams combined (8,090,633) than any other track, its continued reign is not even slightly contentious. It is, however, possible that at some point in the future a track will be top of physical and download rankings, with more audio streams and video streams than any other record and still not be No.1 overall, if most of its streaming is at a 1:600 conversion ratio and something else scores well on 1:100 conversion ratio.

Official UK Top 100 Albums Chart (Week Ending 12 July 2018)
6 July 2018 - 12 July 2018
Aiming for her/their fourth straight No.1 album, Florence + The Machine’s high hopes for High As Hope ended in stinging disappointment as Drake’s SCORPION hightailed it to the summit.
Drake’s fifth official studio album – and his first double – Scorpion contains 25 songs and almost 90 minutes of music, including the No.1 hits God’s Plan and Nice For What, the No.37 hit I’m Upset and a trio of new hits that debut in the Top Five of the singles chart this week.
Not released on CD until July 13, Scorpion racked up first week sales of 63,690 copies, including a massive 49,715 from sale-equivalent streams a total surpassed only by the 78,944 streaming sales registered by Ed Sheeran’s ÷ on debut 69 weeks ago.

Kylie Minogue with GOLDEN fell 66-73 (1,300 estimated units) in her 13th week.
With Graham Nash now touring Europe, a new anthology, OVER THE YEARS…, cherry-picks his best work with various combinations of Crosby Stills Nash & Young, solo highlights and adds unreleased demos and alternative versions. It debuted at No.27 with 2,694 sales of which 13 are from digital downloads – and even that is higher than it should be. Amazon charge £16.99 for the album on mp3, iTunes £17.99. However, the cost of the 2 CD set at Amazon is just £5.99, with instant AutoRip available, rendering mp3 purchase an expensive nonsense.

Our Country: Americana Act 2 a second set of autobiographical songs written and arranged by 74-year-old Kinks leader Ray Davies, based on his experience of America over 50 or more years made a debut at No.58 (1,685 sales).

(6 July 2018) Best Kept Kiwi Secrets - Kiwi Country TV, Vol. 1
Released on 31 May 2018, the first volume of a compilation album featuring some of New Zealand's best country music talent launched.
The 20-track ‘Best Kept Kiwi Secrets’ is the brainchild of Kiwi Country TV showcases a range of local artists who continue to achieve success both at home, in Australia, and at an international level.
From distinguished country artists - Brendan Dugan, Jodi Vaughan and The Warratahs - to the current stars - Kaylee Bell, Jody Direen, and Liam Kennedy-Clark - it celebrates the very best that Kiwi country has to offer.
Kiwi Country TV spokesperson Aly Cook said New Zealand has a fantastic new generation of country artists who are very much ‘hidden talent’ in their own country. With few outlets for recorded country music on commercial television and radio, it is often hard for the New Zealand public to hear the new and exciting music available.
"The reach of country music, from any country for that matter, to the New Zealand general public is not great," she says. "However, there is a growing grassroots country music industry that is producing new music that tells our stories. These artists are gaining chart status as they are being played heavily on community and commercial radio alike in Australia, as well as worldwide."

Watch Jackie Bristow (now USA based) and her beautiful country ballad ‘Warrior Spirit’ (first released May 31, 2016 ).

PRESS RELEASES
(July 6, 2018) - Emerging Country artist, Pearl Clarkin, will be hosting a celebration for her first release to radio and digita lretailers at her home the Spaceship House on Pensacola Beach July 13, 5PM for local media and sponsors.

The song Fishin’ has been played on over 180 radio stations and the initial reports from Heart Songs Corporation, Clarkin’s digital and streaming distribution company look healthy. The buzz around Nashville is that Clarkin is being closely watched by the major labels for a future deal for both publishings and as an artist.
The Spaceship Party is being held to celebrate Clarkin’s 75 sponsors. “A music career takes financial backing and I never thought I’d have 75 sponsors but I do and many are in Pensacola. These are people who believe in me and want to help me reach my goals. They are from all over the country and some are even flying in from as far away as California for the party. I got the idea to invite the local media last week when I was a guest on the TY, Kelly and Chuck Cumulus Media radio show and they talked about what a cool event it was going to be and how if they had the budget they would go. I thought about how I have a huge hometown following but have never developed a much-needed relationship with the local media or radio. I certainly am going to need help from these folks and a long term relationship with them in my future career.”

(9 July 2018) – Rising country singer-songwriter Kendall Gary has released a new single, “Barefoot Country Mile.” The Country Note premiered an exclusive “first listen” of the track Friday, July 6. The single is available for download on Amazon UK, iTunes, Amazon.com or streaming on Spotify.
“I knew I had to, and really wanted to, write a song about being from the South,” said Kendall. “I’m a native Texan and of course proud to be from such a great state. This fun, upbeat song sums that up. It has some southern clichés, but I think that’s what makes the song so catchy and enjoyable.”
Janeen Megloranzo from The Country Note said, “Gary’s vocals, reminiscent of vintage Taylor Swift, are showcased in the up-tempo single about the values she was taught while growing up in the south, such as being grateful, appreciating hard work, and lending a helping hand.”

COUNTRY GOSSIP
(6 July 2018)
Taylor Swift took a much-needed break from her Reputation Stadium Tour with her boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn, over the 4th of July holiday in Turks and Caicos.
The pop superstar and her boyfriend, who revealed their relationship last May after dating in secret for several months, were photographed splashing around in the water and doing some snorkeling.

This marks the second year in a row of Swift not throwing her famous Independence Day party, though she didn't seem to mind; Swift looked carefree and patriotic in a retro striped bikini.
Taylor Swift’s friends reportedly want her to marry boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
The Look What You Made Me Do hitmaker began dating the British actor in October 2016, just a few months after she had a highly publicized fling with Tom Hiddleston.
Though her current relationship has been conducted mostly outside of the public eye, a source close to Taylor has now claimed that the star is gearing up to make a big announcement.
“Everyone in Taylor’s camp is buzzing with excitement right now about her and Joe, after Taylor told them they have some news,” the insider explained to Britain’s Reveal magazine. “She’s planning a huge family get-together for when her tour comes to a close. It will be held at her home in Nashville later this year, and rumours are flying around that this could be an engagement party, or even a surprise wedding.”
“His (Joe’s) family think she’s absolutely wonderful and would be over the moon if they got married,” the source insisted. “Similarly, Taylor’s parents think Joe is a true English gentleman, and miles better than the other men she’s brought home.
