Bournemouth singer-songwriter Helena Mace releases new single “Hometown” to radio (Review)

Bournemouth’s very own Country Belle Helena Mace latest release 

“Hometown” has been sent to radio.

It’s the first single from her yet untitled new album.

A 2nd single is planned in the new year.

The new album is slated to drop in the Spring 2019.

Earlier in 2018 the lovely south coast artiste self-released her 10-track album CHASING DREAMS album (Amazon UK - UK iTunes)  on 12 March.

She again turned to Matt Black (Hangover Hill Recording Studio; Website) based in Bournemouth to produce the project having  followed up to the November 2016 released album WASH AWAY THE YEARS, which drew received rave reviews from radio presenters, fans and the Industry.

The politely well-spoken Helena wrote the complete album less one score (penned by her father).

Previously released singles carried forward were given renewed remastering treatment.

Her music has featured on SKY TV via the Keep it Country TV channel and local BBC as well as numerous Inde Radio stations and programmes.

In September Helena was a finalist for UK Country Awards (sponsored by Internet station UKCountryRadio.com) receiving nominations, in three categories, for Album of the Year (WASH AWAY THE YEARS), Female Artist of the Year and Country Artist of the Year.

Singer-Songwriter Helena Mace Pays Homage To Bournemouth on New Single “Hometown”

The track was recorded by frequent producer Matt Black (who also plays all the keys on the track) at Hangover Hill Recording Studios, Bournemouth (Website | FACEBOOK | Artists | MAP ) a converted studio based at his home premises.

The self-penned song was inspired after Mace returned from Greece and realised just how pleasant it is to get home and be in familiar surroundings be it walking in the rain, taking a local trip in the midday sun or that feeling of the cool, clear and clean sand beneath the feet. Those simply pleasures, a mindset of nice pictures, memories and feeling alive!

Helena begins with some delightful gentle acoustic opening stirrings as “Hometown” develops into a sweet and charming number capturing both a homely and comforting sentiment.

As seasons changes and new chapters commence the homely young lady affirms her love for her homestead in the catchy chorus:

I'm on my way back to my hometown. Driving by the ocean every day.  Nothing like returning to my hometown. There's no place I’d rather be today. In my hometown

The vocals are not forced but warmly evocative over some simple country/folk rhythms

It’s underpinned with a shuffling and unobtrusive back beat as subtle bright keyboard effects add colour, sprinkling a little sunshine across the melodic score to bring forth smiles.

This is delightful musical enjoyment and for me Helena’s best song to date. 
A pleasing listen, Well Done!
