About Sunny Ozell

Sunny Ozell (born Dec 23, 1978) is an American singer and songwriter who currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
New York Songstress Sunny Ozell found her voice performing in New York City clubs in front of the most discerning of audiences. There she honed her sound with elements of jazz, blues, and American roots as part of the city’s tight-knit musical community.

After over a decade of live shows around New York, Ozell mastered the art of interpreting works by other songwriters, with the ability to dig deep to find the true meaning of a song, perhaps even discovering qualities in them the author never suspected. Her experience singing blues and jazz, musical forms which demand powerful doses of character and insight from their performers—led to her debut album, TAKE IT WITH ME (Tagged Pop).

Hailing from Reno, Nevada, Sunny began her classical vocal training at 10, and became the only child member of the Reno Opera Company at the age of 12.

Following years of educating herself far and wide musically in Blues, Jazz, Latin music and everything else she could get her hands on, it was her move to New York in 2004 which proved a pivotal moment. Immersing herself in the vibrant music scene of the city, her time there helped to create a sound that’s indebted to the classic songwriting of old, while imbuing it with a fresh, youthful urgency.

Her husband actor Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–94)
and Ozell were guests on Steve Wright at BBC Radio 2 in London on July 17th 2015 which was aired on July 31, 2015 (BBC Page). Earlier that month they were invited into the ITV's This Morning studio and joined Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden.
