With a soulful, distinctive voice and a knack for writing powerful songs with moving melodies, singer/songwriter Sarah Ryder is proving to be one of country music’s prolific writers. With acclaimed Nashville producer Johnny Garcia (Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood) at the helm, listeners can expect her debut EP, Feels Like This, this summer. Together, they have crafted an impressive 5-track project that embraces Sarah’s 90’s Country upbringing while showcasing her emotive songwriting.

Growing up in Lititz, PA, Sarah’s childhood town might be thought of as the idyllic breeding ground for inspiration and songcrafting. Thoughts of rural Pennsylvania evoke images of rollings hills, quaint small towns and the occasional horse-drawn carriage.

This Mayberry style town was first put on the music map by the Clair Brothers and their $7 million arena-like rehearsal facility, drawing the world’s top acts including Lady Gaga, Elton John, U2, & Pennsylvania Native Taylor Swift. Perfect this perfect dichotomy of small town life & big city opportunity is what led Sarah to pursue music professionally.

With the early influence of Shania Twain, Sarah dabbled in songwriting at the young age of 8, but it wasn’t until she graduated high school that she decided to pursue songwriting seriously. 

Sarah explains: “I will never forget going to watch George Strait from the nose bleed section with my friends where he was just a dot on the stage. His voice carried across the place and I found myself listening to the lyrics and knowing I had to create something that makes people feel the way I felt in that moment. I wanted to write songs that make people feel emotions that we all feel. I knew in that moment that I was meant to express feelings and emotions and experiences that we all relate to.”

Her journey from Main Street U.S.A. to Country music began, like many, with a detour in Los Angeles. It was there that she started working with hit songwriter, lyricist & producer Michael Jay (Toy Soldiers, Hot Summer Nights). Sarah credits him as being absolutely instrumental in teaching her the fundamentals of studio techniques, songwriting strategies, and networking with other writers.

But her Country roots brought her to the place that felt like home for the budding songstress, Nashville. It was here where she learned to sharpen her own style and communication through song. She explains: My goal in every writing room I enter is that I learn something and gain more from those I work with. People come from so many walks of life and I love to hear about their experiences and feelings and try to create lyrics in a way that an audience can feel like they have lived them too.

Doors seemed to continue to open for Sarah in Nashville. It was then that she was introduced to well-known producer Johnny Garcia and he took her under his wing. Sarah was eventually signed to Garcia’s publishing and production company. Together, they have crafted her upcoming EP that will showcase her self-proclaimed ‘old school Country style’ while embracing Contemporary Country production. Sarah has cherished her time working with the acclaimed producer and described that: “Working with Johnny is freeing. He gives you every opportunity to let your voice and identity shine.”

Her influences of Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood & Martina McBride can be heard on the upcoming EP. These 6 years in Nashville have brought her to cross paths with many great songwriters of the genre including Dave Gibson, Bridgette Tatum & Marc Copely. (ADD IN DETAILS OF THE WRITERS ON THE EP).

Nashville may be a long ways from the rural bonfires & Amish farm stands of Lancaster County, but those Pennsylvania roots are firmly planted in the now Nashvillian as she prepares to make her debut with Feels Like This, available this Summer.
