The set’s 12 songs run the gamut from psychedelic garage rock to melodic pop and heartfelt country and Americana, while the lyrics reflect what Perley calls ‘more of an existential kind of thing, an internal, searching theme.’ Indeed, ‘Let Go’ fits that mold. — Billboard
Perley’s vocals provide huge clarity and energy, yet remain soulful and rootsy, with a hazy quality that will become instantly recognizable. — Maverick Magazine (Source Angela Perley/press)
Genre: Rock & Roll // Americana // Alt-Country
Band Members: Angela Perley- vocals & guitar; Chris Connor- lead guitar
Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Angela Perley’s been writing tragic love songs rooted in folk, cosmic country and indie rock for over a decade now, and it all started with The Howlin’ Moons, an American rock band from Columbus, Ohio.
Angela Perley & The Howlin' Moons, which formed in Columbus, OH around 2009 and has been gigging and grinding it out in all kinds of venues around the country since then - and I mean ALL kinds: restaurants to theaters to mountain basins. Perley has released several EPs, albums and >> music videos with the band and have been playing over a 100 shows a year since 2014.
2019 marked a new chapter for Angela in many ways as an independent artist. she launched a Kickstarter crowd fund project. (232 backers pledged $15,541 to help bring this project to life). The beginning of the record took shape in the winter of 2018 when she brought 17 songs I had written over to Chris Connor who played lead guitar in her band since the beginning and has been hugely instrumental in the arrangements of her music the last couple of albums.
Lead off single “4:30” was Angela’s first solo offering retaining the services of her long-term bandmate and collaborator whose stylish interjections on guitar lend added impact to a delightfully eclectic package alongside some multi-textured keyboard contributions in the Al Kooper mould from the excellent Robbie Crowell.
Billboard Exclusive
"I've taken a slow and steady, grassroots path which has really helped me develop as an artist," she told Billboard. "I feel like I've found myself, or my voice at least. I never considered myself a singer, or a guitar player; I basically play guitar to write songs. But having all this experience, 10 years grinding it out, has taught me a lot. I'm stronger as an artist, I'm sure, and I'm really ready to take this step....Read More

In the last few years, I’ve grown so much,” Elaina Kay says. She’s home in Texas, reflecting on the relentless writing, playing, and touring that has culminated in her anticipated new album. “I’m not that small town ranch girl anymore,” she says, then with a smirk, she adds, “I run with the boys.”
Elaina talks like she writes: defiant but vulnerable, hopeful but wry. Her new album wraps all those occasionally opposing forces in Elaina’s signature ranch rock-and-roll to create a modern portrait of steely femininity that’s sad, funny, and ultimately, inspiring. “I don’t want to be a victim,” she says. https://www.facebook.com/elainakaymusic/ (6,224 Likes)

(31 July 2019) SPOTLIGHT TRACK Chelsey Danfield "BathTub"
Hot off the release of her second full length album "At the Time" (released April 5, 2019 iTunes), it's safe to say that this is the time for 26 year old singer/songwriter, Chelsey Danfield. Originating from her family's cash crop and hobby farm in Maidstone, Ontario, Chelsey draws inspiration from her rural roots to create honest to goodness alternative country music, "I realized quickly growing up that country music told my family's story. It was who we were and what we did." Compared to the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks and Alannah Myles, Chelsey has cultivated a sound that incorporates elements of current and classic country, rock, blues, and a pinch of pop. All while working on a PhD in Neuroscience.

(3 Aug 2019) Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide Tour’ the most attended and highest grossing tour of all time
Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide Tour’ has broken the record for the most attended and highest grossing tour of all time.
The ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker made it into the history books on Friday (02.08.19), as his scheduled show at Messegelände in Hannover, Germany, officially marked the moment he overtook U2’s record for the most attended and highest grossing tour ever.
In 2011, U2’s ‘360 Tour’ brought in a staggering $735.4 million after the band concluded an intense 110 show run between June 2009 and July 2011.
The ‘Divide Tour’ beat U2’s record on Ed’s 246th show of the lengthy trek, making $736.7 million with still several weeks left to go. The tour has been running since March 2017 and is set to conclude on August 26 this year, when Ed will play his 255th show in Ipswitch, England.
According to Poll Star, the volume of Ed’s shows meant he surpassed U2’s attendance record earlier than the gross sales record, despite having a lower average attendance of 34,541 per show, versus U2’s 66,091 average.
But the sales tally comes as the 28-year-old musician actually had the lowest average ticket price out of the Top 10 highest grossing tours of 2018, charging an average of $86.75, and offering no VIP packages.

COUNTRY GOSSIP
(3 Aug 2019) Reba McEntire encouraged Trisha Yearwood to take control of career
Country music superstar Reba McEntire advised Trisha Yearwood to take control of her career when she first started out.
The 54-year-old singer is one of the biggest names in the business, and she credits McEntire with setting a great example for her, and making her feel welcome in the industry after she appeared at her first awards show.
"She sent me flowers, she made me feel welcome... not your competition, but more, 'Welcome to the family,' that was the first lesson," she told website Extra. "She was very much a great businesswoman. She was the one who said, 'You need to own your photo shoots.'
"She gave me lots of business advice on taking control early on in my career and making those decisions myself because at the end of the day, whoever makes those decisions, my name is on the bottom line."
Meanwhile, the country superstar, who is married to fellow artist Garth Brooks, is also giving back by mentoring young female singers with Cracker Barrel's Five Decades, One Voice project.
She explained to Extra reporter Alecia Davis that the campaign, which also features Loretta Lynn, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild, Brandi Carlile and Hillary Scott, is about "celebrating the history of women in country music and mentoring the new up and coming."

(4 Aug 2019) Kacey Musgraves Speaks Out on Mass Shootings
Kacey Musgraves performed at Lollapalooza on Sunday (Aug. 4), and she took the chance to respond to the two mass shootings that shook America over the weekend.
During her performance, Musgraves spoke to the crowd candidly about the current state of the country before going into an emotional performance of her hit "Rainbow."
"I just wanted to take a second to say thank you, not only for just supporting me and my music but to everybody out here tonight that still has the bravery to show up and come to a large music festival," she told the crowd, referencing the two mass shootings over the weekend in Texas and Ohio.

According to CNN, at least 20 people died after a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday that left 26 more wounded. Another mass shooter opened fire at a nightclub in Dayton, Ohio, at around 1AM on Sunday morning, killing nine people and wounding another 26.
"I can't even believe that we're having to process the s--t that's happening in the last twenty-four hours, much less everything that's happened in the last two-hundred and f--king fifteen days in America. I don't know what the answer is but obviously something has to be f--king done," Musgraves stated.
The country star then encouraged the crowd to scream along with her. "Maybe somebody will hear us if we all yell together to say, 'Somebody f--king do something.'" The crowd chanted the words back with her, loudly.
Later on during the performance, Musgraves tried her internet-famous "yee-haw" chant with the crowd, which gained attention after the crowd at Coachella did not reply to the chant correctly.
Musgraves also had the crowd call out birthday wishes to her mother Karen during her set, telling them that her mom was watching the livestream from her home in Texas. This fall she will headline the remaining Oh, What a World Part II tour dates, ending with a sold-out show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

Kacey Musgraves' refrain during her set at Lollapalooza on Sunday (Aug. 4) left hosts at Fox & Friends outraged. “What happened to wholesome country singers?” Ainsley Earhart says in reference to the "Follow Your Arrow" singer's F-bomb laden chant — a response to the two mass shootings (in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio) over the weekend. Earhardt is mostly upset by Musgraves' choice of adverbs, asking, "But what about the kids? I mean, she's asking them to chant the F-word. I thought about that. I don't want my daughter — I mean, these young girls, they look up to these musicians."
Culture Jihad author Todd Starnes wasn’t quite as shocked as Earhardt at the language, remarking that he suspects Musgraves was "put on a good many church prayer lists after that diatribe at Lollapalooza!"
Starnes has written in the past about the liberalization of country music, something he compared to kudzu. "Once that starts to grow on something, you can't get rid of it, and it kills everything it touches," he said.
Kacey tweeted (Aug 5) I love keeping things about the music and usually stay out of politics publicly UNTIL it barrels past political party preference points and dangerously encroaches on fundamental human rights. It’s then not political issue anymore. It’s a matter of heart. Of humanity. Of survival. Let me be clear - I’m from Texas. I grew up around hunting and guns. There’s a time and place for that and even self protection in ways..but this is different. The system is majorly flawed and NOBODY NEEDS ANYTHING REMOTELY AUTOMATIC. PERIOD. They’re mass killing machines.

Obama to gun owners — I’m not looking to disarm you (June 2016 NewsHour hosted President Obama for a wide-ranging interview with Gwen Ifill. After the broadcast, Obama answered a few bonus questions for the audience, including one query regarding the contentious issue of gun control and Second Amendment rights.) = “There have more guns sold since I’ve been president than just about any time in US history.
