(6 Sept 2019) Ashley Sofia - Shades Of Blue
(Ashley Sofia)
Hometown: Ticonderoga, NY
Biography: Ashley Sofia grew up in the heart of the
Adirondack Mountains, just a quarter mile from her grandparents’ apple orchard
in Upstate New York. Her mother collected books and antiques, and her father—a
former merchant marine—taught her the art of storytelling and folk songs on the
same guitar he traveled the world with. Drawing heavily from her surrounding
landscape and leaning into the isolation that living in a state park afforded
her, Sofia began a prolific career in songwriting at the age of 17.
Sofia released her debut record, Love and Fury, in
2014, with critical acclaim heralding her as the “21st-century reincarnation of
the Laurel Canyon folk-rock sound.” After the success of Love and Fury, Sofia
ventured outside the Blue Line of the Adirondack Park and began a new chapter
in Nashville, where she still lives and makes music.
I’ve spent the last decade of my life living like a
gypsy, traveling America, falling in and out of love, getting sick, getting
well, and getting sick again, protesting, making friends, and losing some along
the way, playing for thousands, playing for 2 or 3. One day I looked up from my
feet and realized how much that one moment, nineteen years ago shaped
everything else. Sometimes that whole wild ride feels like it was written down
somewhere before I came along. Sometimes I’ve felt like there must be something
wrong with me to care so singularly, about one thing, for so long.

(6 Sept 2019) Kerrie Fuller - Cliché (Kerrie Fuller) UK
Hailing from the UK, Kerrie Fuller has a longstanding love of singing, songwriting and country music. Classically trained as a teenager at school, her sound has a unique British feel whilst drawing on the neverending influences found in the Americana and Country scenes of Nashville and beyond.
Despite singing and writing from her early years, it was only in her late 20s that Kerrie came across the opportunity to record her songs. In 2013 she began to work on honing what was a rather broad sound. Being British, Kerrie never really thought that she could be a ‘country’ singer as it were, however, after 5 years of musical experimentation and a couple of important distractions along the way (marriage and a baby!), she has finally found her niche in Americana. She is also learning to play the guitar so that she can finally accompany herself when performing.
Kerrie has set up her own recording studio at her home in rural Kent, UK, and is constantly in the processing of writing and recording new material. Her lyrics draw mainly on her past experiences with the aim of giving any listener an open line to her thoughts and feelings, both happy and sad.

November 1. Lead singer Darius Rucker’s solo country hits “Alright” and “Wagon
Wheel” dotted the setlist along with Hootie fan favorites “Running From an

openers Barenaked Ladies onstage for a cover of The Beatles’ “I Get By with a
Little Help from my Friends.” For the
encore, the band treated fans to an intimate performance of “Goodbye” before
bringing the energy back up with a little bit of Kool & the Gang’s “Get

STANDARDS”
Ashley McBryde was sitting in a dimly lit writer’s room of her management office in
East Nashville earlier this year with Girl Going Nowhere’s “Livin’ Next to
Leroy” and “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” co-writer Nicolette Hayford, and
the seasoned songwriter kept coming back to, “It ain’t somethin’, I wanna spend
a lot of time in… I ain’t gonna stay for the weekend…” before noting, “there’s
something in that notion that not everything has to last forever.” After a
whirlwind two years, the ACM Award winner and CMA, GRAMMY and Emmy-nominated
Arkansas native knew they’d landed on something special.
“We had to walk
away from it to give it a second to breathe,” she now reflects. “When we got
back in a room, this time Shane [McAnally] was with us and I joked, ‘You know,
hotel rooms...they only have one night stand for a reason. They’re one night
stand-ers.’ Shane and Nic’s eyes lit up, ‘Did you just say one night

“One Night Standards,” the first taste
of what’s to come from her highly-anticipated sophomore album for Warner Music
Nashville is available now and sees McBryde again collaborating with producer

(9 Sept 2019) Kelly Clarkson wasn't trying to
'offend or defend' anyone with Taylor Swift suggestion
Kelly Clarkson has insisted she wasn't taking sides during the Taylor Swift/Scooter
Braun feud when she suggested the singer should re-record her first five
records.
The Shake It Off singer made it clear she wasn't happy
when it emerged that Scooter, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's manager, had
snapped up her former record label, Big Machine, and with it her master
recordings, as she called Braun a "bully" and his deal her
"worst-case scenario".
But appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy
Fallon on Sunday night, Kelly explained she was just making a business
suggestion - she didn't intend to get involved in the feud.
"I wasn't really trying to defend or offend
anyone," she said. "It was more like, Reba (McEntire) told me she did
that. That was it. That was all... She wanted to own her masters. And I was
like, 'Well if it's that important to you, like find a way.' And she recut all
of her music and did it with the same musicians, the same everything. That's
where I got the idea.
"Taylor is (an) artist, like she's been writing
since she was a little girl. So it's kind of like her diary, so I get why she'd
wanna (own her music)."
While Kelly added she doesn't personally care about
who owns her masters, host Jimmy Fallon praised her for backing up the Lover
star.
"I stick up for everybody!" Kelly replied with
a laugh. "Hopefully they'll be there for me when I need it."

(4 Sept 2019) Country singer Kylie Rae Harris killed in a car crash in northern New Mexico.
Texas-based singer and songwriter Kylie Rae Harris died
following a three-car crash in New Mexico on Wednesday night (Sept. 4). The
30-year-old was killed
near Taos, N.M., an area she knew well and an area where many of her loved ones
died.
Harris' final Instagram stories posts reveal that she
had been traveling for 12 hours and had done some reflecting about her time in
Taos. The videos were filmed in a parked car, and she had appeared to reach her
destination. She was scheduled to play the Big Barn Music Festival in Taos on
Thursday, a festival she said she loved.
Harris had also been scheduled to play as part of the
the “BMI Songwriters Spotlight Series” during the NAB/RAB Radio Show in Dallas
on September 25th, as well as at Josh Abbott Band’s “Jab Fest” In Lubbock, TX
on SEPTEMBER 20-21. She previously starred in the reality documentary series
“Troubadour, TX.”
HARRIS leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter.
“We are
heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last
night,” Harris’ publicist said in a statement. “We have no further details to
share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie
knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music.
The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love
as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.”
Harris hailed from Texas and was an emerging country
act. In March of this year she put out a self-titled EP, which featured songs
about lessons Harris learned throughout her life. One particular highlight of
the EP is a tune called “Twenty Years From Now,” a song she wrote
as a prayer for her six-year-old daughter. Having lost her own father to
cancer, Harris told Billboard that the song is the most important thing she’d
ever written, saying “it scared me thinking that it was totally possible I
could be gone before my daughter reaches that point. I want to meet my kid’s
kids.”
Harris’ last tweet came Wednesday afternoon and read
“Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station. Dear baby
Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM.”
The three-vehicle crash took the lives of Harris and 16-year-old
driver on State Road 522.
Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the
crash that killed country singer Kylie Rae and 16-year-old Maria Cruz
of San Cristobal, N.M. Additionally, they tell a story that finds Harris as
the instigator in Wednesday's (Sept. 4) three-car accident.
Taos News revealed investigators' findings on Thursday
afternoon (Sept. 5). The Taos County Sheriff's Office says Harris was in a 2017
black Chevrolet Equinox driving south on State Road 522 when she clipped the
back of a Chevrolet Avalanche. That sent her vehicle into oncoming traffic, and
she hit a white 2008 Jeep driven by Cruz. Both drivers died at the scene. The
driver of the Avalanche was uninjured. Read More: Police: Kylie Rae Harris Caused
Crash That Killed Her, Teenager
The mother of Kylie Rae Harris spoke out in the wake
of her daughter's death in a car crash. Betsy Cowan told People that Harris "struggled
with" alcohol in the years prior to her death in a crash in which
investigators suspect alcohol was a factor.
Harris, black Chevrolet Equinox she was driving
clipped a black Chevrolet Avalanche from behind, sending her into the oncoming
lane of traffic. Harris collided head-on with a white 2008 Jeep driven
by 16-year-old Maria Elena Cruz. Both drivers died at the scene. The driver of
the Avalanche was uninjured.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol were both
factors in the crash, according to Taos News. Though the toxicology report was
pending, Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe placed the blame for the accident on Harris.
"At this time I will say with most certainty that
Miss Cruz was an innocent victim of this senseless crash caused by Ms.
Harris," he tells Taos News. Taste of Country reached out to both the
sheriff and the Taos Police Department for clarification on the sheriff's comments.
Neither has responded.
According to public records, Harris had a DWI in 2017
with a blood alcohol level exceeding .15, which resulted in having an ignition
interlock installed in her car. She had a previous citation for speeding in
2014 for going 81 in a 60 MPH zone.
