(19 Sept 2019) Danny McMahon FULL Interview & Session 2019
"I ended up pitching to, the biggest name was probably Taylor Swift and I got short listed for one of her records"
"Fantastic" and "artist of the moment" multi award winning Bristol based Danny McMahon joined Craig Parry on Dapper FM playing an acoustic session and explained how it all started with the music.
Click to LISTEN on Mixcloud
Got signed a development deal as a teenager by a label doing rock music and in his late teens picked up country music
Danny shares he "worked as an intern songwriter at Paramount Music and was the understudy for a guy who had written for Blake Shelton and learnt how to write country music".

Influences growing up: He came to country music listening to music played around the house his Dad was a musician and there is a tradition of musicians on his Dad's side of the family. The country thing came from The Eagles: "they've got that country/ Americana thing about what and that inflences my writing to this day. They were the main one's that really stand out. My Dad was also a fan of Merle Haggard and introduced me to Keith Whitely" said Danny.
Doing POP and mainly Inde country stuff Danny shared he worked with a lot of UK artists and with the POP stuff it was much more commercial based. "I ended up pitching to, the biggest name was probably Taylor Swift and I got short listed for one of her records another was Jay Sean around 2009 and another was The Wanted, that pop lead stuff". He ended up doing things for London Fashion Week & currently does music for Country File for the BBC.
Within 6 weeks of releasing his first EP he received interest from America and got asked to play Springboard West Festival in San Diego (Tried to crowdfund for £4000. £125 pledged of £4,000 goal by 6 backers. The funding project was canceled but attended as the only British act there after "lots of donations from lots of different people who have been generous enough to support our cause. From hours of busking, to fans to friends").
He has supported both Dylan Schneider (Louisiana, Bristol), Charlie Worsham (Thekla, Bristol) and Cannan Cox (Hare & Hounds, Birmingham).
Citing Keith Urban as a musical influence "every record is new and different, it is poppier and some of it is more country, you can still see the intent and quality in that record. The way that people write the songs is what fundamentally makes it country, is it honest, is it real is it from the heart" said Danny.
Danny shares thoughts about experiencing self doubt, being “honest with his emotions” playing UK festivals and Nashville Nights, crowd reaction, the developing country scene and raising the bar in the UK music wise, getting away from strict rules "what is and isn't country I love that the umbrella is so wide" and he performs some "great tracks" in the studio. Danny is currently working with Southern Salt Records in Nashville, doing writing rounds in music city and "songwriting sessions with some really cool people".
Last year he worked with 5-time Grammy nominated and 27-dove nominated artist and producer Billy Smiley (in band with Dan Huff who produces records for Keith Urban & Kane Brown) and Danny used it as a learning experience and Billy contributed to the Everything EP in a big way.

"The sun rises and sets/ And he still ain't single yet," White sings. "You're just left alone with the voices in your head." White says the song represents the often unexplored truths she likes to explore in her writing. - Wide Open Country
Inspired by the way social media and smartphone apps have changed how relationships form, White and co-writers Andy Skib and Emily Earle decided to embrace the casual nature of modern dating instead of wringing their hands about it. "I'm not your first call, I'm not your last / I'm not your future, I'm not your past," White sings nonchalantly. "I haven't met your friends, I haven't met your dad / And I'm okay with that."

(18 Sept 2019) NEW MUSIC Tara Shannon Mutha'

Tara Shannon is a Canadian award-winning singer and songwriter from Russell, ON. In 2017, Shannon launched her long-awaited album Unfinished, which received praise and critical acclaim in Ottawa, Montreal and most notably Nashville where she also performed in the legendary radio station, 650 WSM AM. The album was followed by her single "Love Me Loud" which ranked number 8 in Indie downloads on the DMDS/Yangaroo charts in Canada during the first week after the release, surpassing hit artist Major Lazer.

Alongside her natural talent and dedication to her musical craft, Shannon is also well known for supporting and giving a voice towards local and national charitable campaigns. In 2017, Shannon was presented with the opportunity to write the theme song for BeYou 2017, a campaign made in partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada and Morguard. The opportunity came after seeing Shannon's involvement with the Butterfly Child project in 2015, a song she made to raise awareness and funds for Jonathan Pitre, a young Ottawa boy suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Using Shannon's song as a soundtrack to his cause, Pitre's incredible story went viral across the Ottawa Valley. For both her musical and charitable endeavours, Shannon has been featured in media across North America including Etalk, Global's The Morning Show, CBC's All in Day, CP24 Breakfast, Sirius XM's Ward and Al, and many more.

(21 Sept 2019) Tenille Arts Makes: Grand Ole Opry Debut, Performs "Call You Names" and "Somebody Like That"
Very few dreams are as special to a Country music artist as playing the Grand Ole Opry for the first time, and that was exactly the case for Reviver Records artist Tenille Arts Saturday night (Sept 21). Her parents and siblings made the trip from her native Weyburn, Saskatchewan for the wonderful evening, as did much of her extended family and friends.
Opry member Jeannie Seely introduced Tenille, who walked out on the hallowed stage, entered the sacred circle and launched into her latest recording "Somebody Like That." The Opry band then quietly left the stage, as Tenille told the story behind writing her current single "Call You Names." With just her acoustic guitar and microphone she delivered the beautiful song that left few dry eyes in the audience.
"I really don't think I'm ever going to get over the pure magic of Saturday night," said Tenille. "My Opry debut was everything I could have dreamed of and more!! Thank you to my family, my friends, my team, and my fans, who all made me feel so loved and supported, whether you were backstage, on the sidelines, or cheering me on from afar. I truly think I'm the luckiest person in the world!"

The duo impressed the judges with their cha-cha to Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like A Woman." They earned a 19/30. Bobby Bones' appearance annoyed some fans who are still not happy that Bones won last year, despite low scores for his dances.
Alaina was on The Bobby Bones Show just hours before Monday's premiere. While on the show, she explained why she had to delay her upcoming tour just to be on DWTS.
"We postponed the tour. So that kind of looks like we’re going to do OK because I physically couldn’t do both," Alaina told Bones. "And especially now that I’m doing it, the best decision I ever made was to postpone that tour." Dancing With The Stars airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
"After talking to a few of my friends who have been on the show, I realized I couldn’t give the show and the tour 100%. I always want to deliver the best performances I can, so we have moved the tour to early next year. Dancing with the Stars is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am so excited about," Alaina also explained on her Instagram page last month.

REVIEWS
(20 Sept 2019) Entertainment-focus Zac Brown Band – THE OWL album review (Rating: 2/5 by Pip Ellwood-Hughes)
In the middle of the mess and over-production, there are a couple of gems. Brandi Carlile continues her quest to save Country music by featuring on Finish What We Started. While it’s hardly traditional Country, it’s at least listenable, which is more than can be said for much of the record. Me and the Boys in the Band recalls the band’s Country roots too in a fun and uptempo way and Already On Fire, while not the most memorable track, at least mixes a 70s Fleetwood Mac style instrumentation into the mix but then ruins it with a Vincent Price on Thriller style distorted vocal bit in the middle.
Sadly The Owl just isn’t a very good record.
GOOD: Leaving Love Behind is the standout
THE BAD: Over-produced and cringe-inducing at times, This album is going to turn a lot of fans off!
