Billboard Top 200 / Country Album Chart News (Chart issue week of November 9, 2019)

The Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Kanye West's 'Jesus Is King' Arrives as His Record-Tying Ninth Consecutive No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200 Chart
Kanye West returned to a familiar spot on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart (BB200), as his latest release, JESUS IS KING, debuted at No.1. It’s his record-tying ninth consecutive debut at No. 1, matching Eminem’s still-active streak for the longest in the chart’s history.
Jesus Is King was released on Oct. 25 via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Recordings and earned 264,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 31, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 109,000 were in album sales, while the rest was powered largely by streaming activity. TEA units were 3,000 and SEA units total 151,000 (translates to 196.9 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s 11 tracks).

Old Dominion nabbed their second top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, as the quintet’s new SELF-TITLED set arrived at No. 9 with 31,000 equivalent album units earned (with 19,000 of that sum in album sales). The group previously visited the top 10 with 2017’s Happy Endings, which debuted and peaked at No. 7 (starting with 41,000 units).

Billboard Top Country Albums (Chart issue week of November 9, 2019)
Top Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA) “sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to billboard biz ), exclusively comprising Nielsen’s sales data.

Old Dominion earned its second No.1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart as its self-titled third LP (RCA Nashville/Sony Music Nashville | Amazon UK - iTunes - Amazon.com) launched atop the Nov. 9-dated list with 31,000 equivalent album units, including 18,700 in album sales, according to Nielsen Music in the week ending Nov. 2.
On the all-genre Billboard 200, the set started at No. 9, awarding the group its second top 10.

Old Dominion — which comprises Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung and Brad Tursi — produced the new album with Shane McAnally (who helmed OD’s two previous albums).
One Man Band,” the first single from Old Dominion, climbed 7-5 on Country Airplay, up 9% to 34.4 million audience impressions in the week ending Nov. 3. On Hot Country Songs, which is powered by airplay, streaming and sales data, the track holds at its No. 2 high, also drawing 10 million streams and 6,000 sold in the tracking week.
The album has already spawned No.1 single, “Make It Sweet.”

Carrie Underwood And LANCO Share Most-Added Status
Kudos to Bobby Young and the Capitol reps and Josh Easler and the Arista reps on notching 48 adds each for Carrie Underwood’sDrinking Alone” and Lanco’sWhat I See,” respectively. The songs topped the "Most Added" board this chart week.

NASHVILLE, TN - Nov. 04, 2019 - Double-PLATINUM Country band and Arista Nashville hit-makers LANCO impact Country radio today with their new single "What I See” which has become the most-added single of their career and is tied for the most added song this week. More than 51 stations instantly added the new “ear candy” (Music Row) with its nostalgic twist on hometown memories blended with organic sounds that heighten LANCO's signature anthemic melodies and sing-along choruses. "What I See" was written by frontman Brandon Lancaster, drummer Tripp Howell, bassist Chandler Baldwin and Jeremy Spillman and serves as the name behind their headlining WHAT I SEE TOUR launching Jan. 9 in Overland Park, MS.
It’s been a really great year for us. We’ve had the time to take a step back, get it back to the five of us and write about all the honest and real moments we’ve experienced,” said Lancaster. “‘What I See’ stemmed from the thought that every hometown has a place that people will pass right by without a second thought, but to someone it holds some significant value. We want our fans to be proud of where they came from and it's been cool to watch people gravitate towards it and make the song their own.”
Arista Nashville Promotion Specialist Ryan Sanders (pictured) accepted bagels on behalf of the Arista team for LANCO being most-added at Country radio this week with "What I See." The song earned a total of 48 adds, tying with Carrie Underwood's "Drinking Alone"
