Re Mattei challenges a modern-day lothario in new single “Try To Break My Heart”
RE MATTEI CHALLENGES A MODERN-DAY LOTHARIO IN NEW
SINGLE, “TRY TO BREAK MY HEART,” FUSING GIRL-POWER SASS WITH A RETRO SOUND
NASHVILLE, TN - (November 20, 2023) - Nashville-based Country music artist Re Mattei has turned the tables on a modern-day
Lothario by risking it all and challenging him with romance. Her natural sass,
combined with a retro sound, culminates in a song full of fun and a hint of
mischief with her new single. “Try to Break
My Heart,” penned by Re Mattei and Rick Beresford.
Check out the new music on
Spotify and Apple music platformsHERE.
It’s a game of cat and mouse, wrapped up in a teasing country
lyric. He is a smooth-talking heartbreaker who will soon realize he has finally
met his match. These two hearts have both been broken in the past, and now
they’re faced with the challenge of taking a chance at love and letting down
their guard, or seeing whose heart gets broken first. She’s ready to take a
chance, as she flirtatiously dares him with the words, “Try to Break My
Heart.”
“I always try to portray the women in my songs as having a strong character,”
revealed Re Mattei. “Even if they have lost at love, their experiences and
emotions make them stronger rather than being the victim. In this project, the
woman knows she is falling for a heartbreaker. She willingly is taking a chance
on love with no fear, knowing in the end, maybe her heart will be broken, maybe
not? It’s a fun, playful song with a throwback 80s pop feel.”
"Try To Break My Heart" weaves a narrative of resilience and defiance
against the backdrop of a tumultuous relationship. The lyrics paint a vivid
picture of emotional vulnerability, as the protagonist faces the poison of a
tarnished reputation,” shared Todays Country Music - Jeffrey Curtis. “The song's evocative
imagery and powerful vocals create an anthem of strength, inviting listeners to
join in the defiance against love's trials and tribulations."
“Your reputation is poison Yeah I’ve heard that a lot I put my heart on the line You let me fall then you break
it off You pull up in your pickup With your pickup lines You think I’ll be impressed Well baby, maybe you’re right I can’t take my eyes off you One kiss and the fireworks
start Come on baby I dare you Come a little closer Try to break my heart…”
"Try To Break My Heart" was produced and engineered by Bart Pursley, with Mattei serving as co-producer.
Pursley mixed the single at High Ridge Studio with mastering by True East
Mastering. Session musicians on the project included Steve Peffer (keys, Hammond
organ), Marshall Richardson (drums, percussion), Jason Roller (acoustic guitar), Jon Conley (electric guitar) and Victor
Broden (bass guitar).
The sultry singer-songwriter recently
promoted her Aug 4, 2023 single “Ya Got Two Wheels” (Single;
Trendy Girl Records), co- written with Michael
Shepherd, on Hotdisc. The single made a Hotdisc Top 40 debut at No.24
and has rose to a No.12 peak (chart datedNov 26, 2023).
When dropping this flirtatious country single the
singer/songwriter's goal was to write a song about how life can be unexpected
and lead you on an adventure you may have never anticipated, and anything in
life can happen and is possible when you least expect it.
In this song, a girl is drinking coffee at Starbucks and by chance sees this
guy on a Harley. It is love at first sight. She gets on the back, wraps her
arms around him, and sees where the road takes her.
“Ya Got Two Wheels, I’ve got a tank top. Let’s go
for a ride and see where the road stops.” In the last chorus, it says, “we know
that we won’t stop,” because it was true love and that road goes on forever! "I
am so excited to share with you my new single for the summer. It was my vision
to create a song that would be uplifting, fun and have a positive message.
Whether you ride a motorcycle or just want to hang out and float down a river
with your besties, this song is for you," shared Re
Mattei. "I hope it puts a smile on your face and a ride in your
heart. Whether your are on 2 wheels, 4 wheeling, or on a pontoon boat, I hope
this song helps your summer rock!"
Re Mattei's sultry, soulful voice brings stories to life to satisfy music
enthusiasts with a taste for contemporary country, steeped in tradition. She is
a Berklee College of Music graduate, originally from Trenton, New Jersey, who
earned her bachelor’s degree in guitar performance.
While living in Boston, she joined the all-female
Top 40, seven-piece band, The Uptown Girls. This opportunity enabled Mattei to
become a global performer at nightclubs and military bases in Japan, the
Philippines, Singapore and Hawaii. Mattei moved to Music City to focus on her
songwriting and solo career. She has performed at the Bluebird Café, Opryland
Hotel and the Tennessee State Fair (WSM-AM stage), to name a few. Teaming with
producer Bart Pursley, she recorded and released her debut single, “Country
Love,” in 2014. Mattei is currently in the studio with producer Bartley
Pursley, putting the finishing touches on her upcoming album Believin’ is
Seein’. So, how would Re describe her musical style? “You take a real smooth
Pinot Noir, mix it with a little dirt, add an ice cube, and stir it up real
hard,” she says with a wicked smile.
