CAROLYNNE (Poole) announces new single 'Take the Keys'

Carolynne Good (aka Poole), country singer from Yorkshire!
New release "Take The Keys" coming soon!

Following the success of her single 'I Love You But Shut Up' and the buzz around her performance on the Brooklyn Bowl stage at C2C (Country To Country) in London earlier this year, UK country singer-songwriter Carolynne (aka Carolynne Poole) has announced the release of her next single ‘Take the Keys’ on 19th August 2016 and two London shows in September.

ABOUT CAROLYNNE
For fans of: Cam; Maren Morris; Miranda Lambert

With a family of country music fanatics, it was almost inevitable that country music would be in her blood. At the age of just fourteen Carolynne joined and fronted Sundown, a five-piece Country band, going on to tour the country circuit in the UK. At eighteen she left her family home in Leeds, heading for London to pursue her career as a singer-songwriter. In 2000 she signed her first publishing contract with BMG and took the first step in her professional songwriting career.
During the next couple of years she spent time in Sweden, writing and perfecting her country rock/pop sound. As well as collaborating with some great songwriters she continued performing and touring with various artists such as Tony Christie and The Charlatans. This allowed Carolynne to develop her own style of performance, which would eventually catch the eyes and ears of Gary Barlow when she later appeared on X Factor live finals. Gary described Carolynne as “supremely talented” with a voice that “just oozes Country”.

After the X Factor, Carolynne knew she wanted to fulfil her dream as a songwriter and head to the heart and soul of country music; Nashville, Tennessee. During her five months spent in Arizona, Nashville and LA, she not only gigged her way around but had the opportunity to spend time in a Nashville studio with Grammy award-winning songwriter Jeff Silbar (Dolly Parton, Kenny Rodgers, Willie Nelson, Fleetwood Mac), who as well as penning songs for the country elite in Music City also wrote the award-winning hit ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ .

Carolynne's debut single 'I Love You But Shut Up' was released on May 30, 2015 (Amazon UK - UK iTunes). The single attracted strong support from the mainstream and country media - with playlists (week commencing May 9, 2015 added to the BBC Radio 2 “C” playlist, removed week commencing 6th June 2015) and live sessions on BBC Radio 2, significant regional radio support, a TV appearance on C5's The Wright Stuff - and publicity across national press and magazines, with the song peaking at #7 in the chart. Since then, Carolynne has been working on new material and playing live, including, to much acclaim, an appearance at London’s Country to Country (C2C) Festival at the O2 arena for the third consecutive year.

Take the Keys’ will be released via iTunes & Spotify on 19th August 2016.

It was released to country radio and made a debut on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart at No.60 (Chart Week of Oct 19, 2013) climbed and peaked at #37 (chart Feb 3, 2014) in its 18th frame.

Tell the story behind ‘Take the Keys.’
You always want a strong man that’s behind you, you know. We all get down and we all have times where it’s like, ‘Man I gotta get the heck out of here.’ And it’s so nice to be able to rest in a partner … that’s kind of what that’s (the song) saying there: ‘We’ve been through so much and I know it feels like we get stuck in the same everyday life, but for today let’s just pretend we’re on an open road and let’s get the heck out of here.’
Did anyone specific inspire it?
There are people. There was a person that was specific. It was just nice to have someone that you can lean on. And a lot of times, too, it goes to my father. The only reason I know how to love and how to be loved is because of the unconditional love that he showed me and my mom

"Take The Keys" Lyrics

Baby this time better you and me
We rode all night into the wet concrete
We get caught up in the same routines
Need an escape from reality
There's a getaway car in the driveway, parked
Let's hit the road and let the engine spark
Chorus:
We'll be singing out loud to the Rolling Stones
Making up the lines that we don't know
I'll ride shotgun, baby take the lead
So hold my hand and let the Goodyears roll
In the green light of the stereo
Pretending it's a Mustang, you can be my Steve McQueen
So go on and take the keys, hey hey
And see where the road leads, hey hey

County lines in your rearview fade
Changing lanes through Memory's Main
Pedal down and the tank is full
Getting high on life and no one troubles
Bringing us down

Repeat Chorus

Top down when the sun comes up, yeah
Free falling back in love
Over and over again

Come on, come on, take the keys
Come on, come on, baby
Come on, come on, take the keys
Come on, come on, baby

You Can Be My Steve McQueen
