Mean Mary touring Ireland & the UK from August to October, BLAZING soundtrack gets official UK release date on July 6th

Mean Mary, European Tour inc. UK & Ireland · August-October 2018

“The voice of a ragged angel combined with the banjo playing of the devil ... you will want to run away with her.” -  No Depression

Mean Mary (Mary James) is an international touring musician and award winning author. World renowned for her lightning-fast fingers and raw, unmistakable vocal sound, Mean Mary’s story songs, fast songs, sad songs and songs to make your feet tap, travel the genres of roots, bluegrass, blues, and folk rock.

Blazing features scorching banjo, smouldering vocals, and a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour - all set amid a dark Hollywood theme. The album is the soundtrack to the mystery/action novel, Hell Is Naked, co-authored by (Mean) Mary James and her mother, Jean James. The book recently took finalist honours in the action genre at the Readers Favorite International Book Awards.

BLAZING will be released ahead of an extensive European tour from August to October and Mary promises an intimate and fun show featuring new songs alongside many old favourites. And yes, she will be bringing her banjo, guitar, fiddle, percussion, and as many of her 11 instruments that she can carry.

A note about Mary’s new novel, Hell Is Naked
Full of suspense and mystery, it is as fast paced as Mean Mary’s Blazing Tour. When former SWAT and police officer, Warren Roberts, romps through the Hollywood movie scene, he proves that off-beat investigative styles can achieve results and that action, adventure, humour, and romance can credibly inhabit the same story.

Bio
Mary James, youngest of six children, was born in Geneva, Alabama, though her family lived in Florida, a couple miles below the Alabama line. Her mom (author, Jean James) and dad (WWII veteran, William James) lived a very nomadic lifestyle. On one occasion they packed up the family (Mary was four at the time) and moved from Florida to North Minnesota, near the Canadian border, to rough it in the wilds.

An award-winning musician/writer and fan favourite (over 10 million views on her YouTube videos), Mean Mary (Mary James), a Florida native now based in Nashville, began life as a musical prodigy – she could read music before she could read words and co-wrote songs at age five. By age seven she was proficient on the guitar, banjo, & violin, and entertained audiences across the US with her vocal and instrumental skills. Her life has been one long road show interspersed with TV, radio, and film.

Now a seasoned performer and headliner of over 4000 festivals and concerts, Deering Banjo’s named her their Goodtime Ambassador, and Janet Deering describes her banjo playing as giving her “chills”. Equally versatile on guitar, fiddle, and 8 other instruments, Mary is known internationally for her lightning-fast fingers, haunting vocals, and intricate story songs. As a high-energy performer that thrives on variety and as a songwriter that chooses unusual subject matters, anything from ghost pirates to demon guitars could romp through a Mean Mary show.
