“I wasinstantly transfixed.” – John Paul White

With a voice thatswoons and soothes” – Rolling Stone

NASHVILLE, TN, March 28 – Marking the arrival of a stunning new voice from the American South, Erin Rae will release her highly anticipated new album ‘Putting On Airs’, out June 8 on Single Lock Records.  In advance of the release, the track 'Can’t Cut Loose' dropped (Weds Mar 28), premiering on Noisey.com, who strongly related to the song's lyrics and music, stating, “Quitting is hard, especially when what you're quitting seems like it has some sort of purpose you can't find from anything else.”

Rae, whose genre-fusing mix of traditional folk, indie-rock, and 1960s psych-rock production has landed her collaborations with artists like Margo Price and Andrew Combs – not to mention critical attention from the world’s top music media, including Rolling Stone, NPR, and the BBC -- is finally stepping out into the spotlight with ‘Putting On Airs’.

A forthcoming NPR World CafĂ© session and a busy tour schedule, including spring support dates with the Mountain Goats and Margo Price, and an appearance at End Of The Road Festival in the UK, shows Erin Rae’s star is on the rise on both sides of the Atlantic.

Buoying the release is Rae’s reputation as an enthralling live performer, which has earned her the respect of Nashville peers and music notables alike, including Grammy Award winner John Paul White, who has signed her to his Florence, Alabama-based label, Single Lock Records. Rae joins a Single Lock roster that includes Nicole Atkins, St. Paul And The Broken Bones, and White himself, who said “When I first heard Erin’s compelling voice, I knew nothing about her.
It was live, with no intro (she was opening for friends of mine), and I was instantly transfixed. I couldn’t wait to engage, and that’s something I very seldom feel, much less do. I was thrilled to find out her personality was as engaging as her voice and songs, and that she was looking for a home. I couldn’t be happier to be hitching our wagons together.”

Rae describes ‘Can’t Cut Loose as “a song about romanticizing addiction in all of its forms, from substances to love and relationships. I wrote this song to that incessant longing voice in my head that tells me I need something else to make me feel different or better.”

Gifted with the unique ability to fuse musical genres and influences to craft songs that feels fresh and wholly her own, with ‘Putting On Airs’, Rae has thrown down a direct challenge to the stereotype of what a southern singer should be. Both musically and lyrically, she strikes a fiercely independent chord, proudly releasing a deeply personal record that reflects her own experience and upbringing in Tennessee, including the prejudices and injustices that she witnessed as a child that continue to impact her life to this day, including her personal struggle to understand her own sexuality. According to Rae, "this album was born out of a need to do some healing work in my personal life, to address some fears, and patterns of mine and allow my true feelings to come to the surface."

The isolated environment created the perfect setting for Erin and her bandmates to track these genre-busting songs, using the chapel and other unique spaces within the cavernous building to explore new sonic boundaries, all while continuing to showcase Erin’s trademark vocals and the song-serving restraint first heard on her critically-acclaimed 2015 debut album, ‘Soon Enough’ (engineered and produced by Anderson East and Mike Rinne).

The unique sound of the record is inspired by the innovative 1960s European production techniques from artists like the Beatles and Francoise Hardy, paired alongside the restraint and minimalism of modern artists like Angel Olsen, Richard Hawley, Twain and Michael Nau, bridging the sonic gap between classic songwriting and a modern indie-rock ethos. The album was co-produced by engineer Dan Knobler (Rodney Crowell, Tift Merritt) and multi-instrumentalist Jerry Bernhardt. Dominic Billett also served an integral role in the collective that worked together to create the album’s innovative and varied sonic pallet, providing the perfect soundscape for Erin’s soothing vocals, bathing everything in the warmth and purity that has become her trademark sound.

Alongside ‘Can’t Cut Loose’, preview track ‘Like The First Time’ was released in 2017 around her sell-out UK tour, drawing strong support from Spotify, as well as critical acclaim from British media, including the BBC and tastemakers Line Of Best Fit and Gold Flake Paint. Discussing the track, Rae explained that “I wrote this while I was kicking myself for acting against my own desires in an attempt to gain approval or validation to take the loneliness away. It just made me feel worse, which is a lesson I’ve had to relearn time and time again, and I think other folks do this, too. It’s that internal thought process of “if I just see this person one more time, maybe we’ll figure it out and make it work, and maybe I can make sure you think well of me, and speak well of me to other people.” Maybe that’s being too direct and clear, but I think so many of us have these little ulterior motives that get mixed in with attraction and lust. A driving force behind this record is the process of me trying to get honest with myself about when these feelings are at play, and waiting to act on them until I have more clarity and they feel like they are coming from a healthy place.

Emily's vocals are just outstanding and faultless, they beat straight into your heart and stay there for every one note. Her beautiful skills on the piano make her not just a musician but an artist of an outstanding calibre.....The five tracks are all unique and you can't place any of them, they are between acoustic and pop, or maybe some modern jazz with a twist of folk. It is so nice to just listen to music which you can't label in a genre. (Review subba-cultcha.com)

ABOUT EMILY FAYE:
Emily Faye Single Art 'Giving In'
Available now with pre-order

Emily Faye's journey into music and storytelling began in a back corner bedroom in a remote village deep in the English countryside.

Her earliest musical influences came from the songs played on a mixtape made by her father, with the distinct voices of Stevie Nicks and Paula Cole paving the way for the captivating sound Emily creates and performs today.

Having taken the time to study songwriting at London's British And Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM), her abilities as both an artist and a songwriter seemingly have no limits, something which is showcased in the balance between songs which manage to be both catchy and deep in her early material. During the four years she attended the renowned college, she co-wrote and collaborated with like-minded musicians to begin gigging around the capital.

With the help of her bandmates and the relentless support of her family, Emily has successfully begun to make her mark within the ever-changing industry and is now in demand as one of the UK's most exciting new country artists.
Having travelled to the home of country music - Nashville, Tennessee - last year to record her debut EP set for release in April 2018, and named as one of Rolling Stone Country's 'Top Ten Artists You Need To Know' at the end of the year, Emily Faye is certainly a name to look out for.

Emily's new EP ‘HERE I AM’ is out on Friday 27th April 2018, available to pre-order now.

Hayley McKay new single Chance To Change and self-titled album due April 27

Hayley McKay is back after roaring success with the new single ‘Chance to Change’ from her highly anticipated debut album due out in April which was recorded in Abbey Road and produced by some of the industry’s biggest names.

With support from Maverick, BBC Radio, Bob Harris’ Under The Apple Tree Session and performances at Glastonbury and SummerTyne Americana – you know Hayley means business.

NEW SINGLE: CHANCE TO CHANGE
(OUT NOW RELEASE DATE – 16th MARCH 2018 iTunes)
ALBUM - OUT 27th APRIL
Touring In April

(28 March 2018)
It’s been a long time coming, but Hayley McKay’s self-titled, debut album, released on the Willow Records label, has been worth the wait. Hayley McKay is back with a bang after capturing audiences through both her live performances and her high quality produced tracks. After the success of her two previous singles, ‘Unspoken’ (Dec 2016) and ‘Bottom Of My Heart’ (iTunes; 5 May 2017), Hayley has been recognised by the likes of MaverickElmore Magazine, throughout BBC Radio including Introducing Tees ‘Artist of the Week’ and Bob Harris’ Under the Apple Tree sessions.

With performances in Nashville, Glastonbury, SummerTyne Americana as well as supporting iconic artists such as Albert Lee, Skip McDonald, Scouting For Girls, Tom Jones and Martha Reeves – it’s clear that Hayley is one to look out for in 2018…

The majority of the tracks are written or co-written by Hayley proving there’s far more to her than just an amazing voice.

Haunting ballads, such as Ghosted and Don’t Give Up On Me, are supported by gentle acoustic numbers like You’re A Song and Matching Suitcase.

And there’s also an element of folk in another co-write - Following The Sun.

The lead track, Catching Fire - another country/rock track that found its way to her from Nashville - also deserves an honourable mention because it opens the door to what is to come.

The new single, Chance To Change, is a mix of all of these styles. Penned by Irish writers Aoibheann Carey Philpott and Joe Carey Jnr, it’s a mid-tempo, lilting song with a Fleetwood Mac vibe that confirms Hayley to be a true, all-round country artist with a style all of her very own.

Published March 12, 2018: Chance To Change (Official Video)

“Every song shows off a different element of my voice and my producer, Matt Parisi, has really delivered an amazing sound with Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road adding his own special magic. I’m so proud of this album and I really hope everyone will love it as much as I do”. – Hayley McKay

Renowned writers, Aoibheann Carey Philpott and Joe Carey Jnr have created a distinctive track that compliments Hayley’s emotional vocals and topped off with Matthew Parisi’s high end production that hook you in deeper with every listen.
