Extract: The red carpet was awash in sequins and tulle, but rather than feeling prom princess, the vibe was country-meets-Hollywood glam....
Either the stylists and artists who chose the apparel for the 46th annual CMA Awards red carpet took a big, ol’ Hollywood 1940s glamor pill, or country music is trending sartorial in a distinctly different way...
Carrie Underwood dazzled in a sequined peek-a-boo number that wasn’t overtly sexual, just subtly come hither. Taylor Swift did her best Taylor Swift in a pretty gown that, while slightly girlish, wasn’t cloying. And up close and personal, Shawna Thompson with Thompson Square was absolutely stunning in a sea foam green Grecian gown that could easily have walked the Academy Award red carpet........
Does the lack of denim, cowboy hats and boots signify an outward sign of a musical trend? Less country, more pop? Maybe. Or maybe the artists and their fashion posse just swallowed a big, ol’ pill.
