March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women
LONDON, March 8, 2021:
Emilia Quinn has today announced the release of her brand-new remotely recorded
single Girl Talk, which will be available to
download and stream across all mainstream digital platforms from 8th March
2021 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Emilia opted to showcase the talents of 22 other
female-identifying artists in the ironically-titled single ‘Girl Talk’,
which lyrically pokes fun at the stereotypes and common issues womxn face,
including casual sexism, being ghosted, and the expectation to fit a certain
aesthetic.
Released on International Women’s Day, the song celebrates both
the unity and diversity within the collective female identity. Artists
featuring on the single hail from a variety of backgrounds, yet all have fallen
prey to similar situations which have served only to strengthen their
sisterhood and they’re hoping that ‘Girl Talk’ will resonate with other
womxn too.
The accompanying music video, released on the same day, was shot
remotely via Zoom. Each participant was invited to mime the lyrics to the
viewer while ironically doing stereotypically “girly” things to create a sense
of satire.
All proceeds from streaming and downloads
will be donated to award-winning charity Girls
Rock London, who host music camps
for girls, women, trans and non-binary people to make roles in the music
industry more accessible within a safe space.
The Girl Talk music video to premier at 6pm GMT 8th March
In her own words: As if there weren't enough incredible womxn on the track itself, the video features even MORE amazing people from all walks of life. The whole point of Girl Talk was to share a feeling of empowerment and support those who are often marginalised by showcasing how strong and wonderful they are. This is a track for everyone to enjoy and I am thrilled to showcase a beautiful collection of empowering individuals. The whole video was filmed over video calls with each cast member during lockdown. Distance doesn't stop creativity! It was a pleasure getting to know everyone featured here and I hope you love them all as much as I do!

ABOUT Emilia Quinn Biography
Emilia has been described as a
firecracker, weaving together a combination of roots music genres, such as
blues, rock and country, whilst bringing her own unique tone to the table.
Having grown up with a wide variety of music genres, she takes inspiration from
anywhere and everywhere.

After returning briefly to her
Singer-Songwriter career she formed a Blues Rock band and found her feet in
Roots music.
She then broke away and went
solo, following her own path and creating music close to her heart.
She debuted in the UK Country
music scene with her 3-track EP WROTE OFF (released June 8, 2019),
recorded in London. The record was a trio of acoustic songs, built with
percussion and layers of harmonies, all performed by Emilia herself. This was
well received by the scene with some wonderful reviews rolling in.
Emilia’s journey then continued when she started finding her confidence and sass, writing more fiery and gritty tracks, introducing a full band sound to her next single release ‘Mistakes’ (released April 30, 2020). Belles and Gals were lucky enough to interview the Leeds-based singer earlier in January 2020. Emilia said this of her music as: ‘I think if I had to label it it would be alt. Country/americana type music with some grit to it.’ Mistakes was written a couple of years ago, inspired by my past, having a tendency for rocky relationships (something I think a lot of creative people can relate with!). It’s one of my less straightforward songs, as in it isn’t based on just one event or one feeling, it’s more like a patchwork of emotions, situation and experiences. The song explores those different themes from feelings of self-sabotage to going back to something you know you should leave in the past and the journey through that!
Performing solo all the while, Emilia still drew in audiences with her stage presence using just an acoustic guitar, a stomp box and her voice. She found her bookings increasing and fan-base growing rapidly, not just in the Country scene but across several genres. Emilia also started building a fan-base internationally, particularly in the USA and Germany, proving that her music could break boundaries.
The self-released 4-tracker FIRECRACKER (Amazon UK - iTunes), which dropped July 24 2020, proved to be a strong EP entering the iTunes Country Album chart at No8 and rose to number No.3. It also entered the top 100 on all-genres iTunes peaking at No.77. ‘Firecracker’ was mostly recorded and produced during lockdown, which is a testament to how well Emilia can overcome hurdles and adapt her work and career to new situations. Her strong work ethic produced a gritty, fiery and popular record, which was well received by both UK and International press. The EP won Album/EP of the Year 2020 at the Belles and Gals hosted UKCMSA (UK Country Music Spotlight Awards) which was acknowledged by Bob Harris OBE
“Emilia has her own sound, is doing it her way, and has an energy about her that is hard to match.” - Belles and Gals TAG
Cracking set of songs from rising U.K. artist. Superb mix of rock, blues & country sounds anchored around the power & depth of EQ’s vocals. A real treat if you like your Country on the rockier side – James Daykin Lyric Magazine.
The songs are impressing, you deliver just what you promise to the people: straight, honest, powerful songs” - Track by Track Rating 3.8/ 5 Florian Buechting Flyctory
On Dec 4, 2020 Quinn released a 2-track single (WK Records) with the piano driven M.I.L.A and acoustic This World. It was recorded and mixing by Emilia and then sent to her mastering engineer Rich for “a polished touch and some fresh ears”
The artwork – a bold,
eyecatching choice – features a scan of an unborn child to reflect innocence
amid darkness, a theme she carries into both of these emotional, relatable
stories. M.I.L.A (Missing Intensely from my Loving Arms) is an absolute
jaw-dropper. On first listen, I was absolutely floored. We all know by now that Quinn is a powerhouse
with a knack for storytelling, but this song is a masterpiece. Produced simply
with just a piano and Quinn’s warm, rich vocal, the song tugs at the heartstrings.
The raw emotion in her voice is breathtaking. It’s the kind of song you imagine
will stun a crowd into silence. It shows
a whole new side to Quinn as a vocalist and a songwriter, and it’s nothing
short of magnificent. - Three Chords Country
Emilia's wide influences and knowledge of multiple instruments allows her to write in a very personal and identifiable way. She draws inspiration from her life experiences and lives through her songs, in an effort to make a personal connection with her audience through raw emotion. Emilia’s main goal in her career is to connect with as many people as she can by sharing her music and stories held within her lyrics. She is a dedicated and feisty artist, and definitely one to watch!
She released new single Girl Talk on Women's International Day March 8, 2021.
The self-penned charity single
debuted at #6 on the UK Country iTunes Singles Chart and so far has peaked at No.3
(#147 UK iTunes all-genres).
How did this decision come about?
To be honest, the drive to
create and release a song to celebrate and empowerment womxn was the first
thought before I actually wrote the song. I'd had a conversation with a friend
and I has said to her, 'I'm going to write a song called Girl Talk and release
it on International Women’s Day' and that kind of spurred the rest of the
project on! It's still a very significant day and I wanted to do something big
to celebrate it.
Could I please ask you about
how the was recording for Girl Talk with someone being in lockdown still?
It was a challenge to overcome
but where there is will there's a way. All recording was done remotely, which
means all parts in the songs have been recorded up and down the country and
even overseas.
All the parts were sent to me, I edited them and then sent them off to a producer who also worked remotely, keeping me updated all the while and hey presto socially distanced single haha. Read full interview at itskellielou.blogspot
Emilia runs Whiskey Kisses Promotions which, so far, has been a Roots, Country and Americana gig promotions company based in Leeds. The decision to start WK came after an intern role she had at a London-based company who put on gigs across multiple genres and exposed her to the organising-only role. After a while of running shows in London, she then moved up to Leeds and broke into the Country music scene.
