(June 20, 225) Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington releases
swaying new ballad “Not Like I Used To,” flanked by steel and
fiddle. The cover art features a portrait shot by legendary hall-of-famer and
recent collaborator Marty Stuart. The song itself is marked by
Worthington's signature, “confident, assured style — seemingly frozen in amber,
floating in dive-bar dust” (The Tennessean).
“It's
a song about the way it was,” Worthington shares. “It's the
fourth song we're putting out from the upcoming project. Brand new country song
from the same ole country boy.”
Worthington
penned “Not Like I Used To” alongside Monty Criswell and Derek George.
Exemplifying his commitment to “authentic Texas country with a deep
devotion to the genre's heritage” (Holler), the song laments a
great love gone by:
This release follows the success of recent tongue-in-cheek toe-tapper “It
Ain't The Whiskey” that has racked up over 40 million
listens. Earlier this year, the Texas native released “I'm The One
(feat. Marty Stuart)” – and was joined by superstar Miranda
Lambert last fall for “Hello Shitty Day.”
It was also announced, Worthington will join Zach Top as direct support on all
dates of the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour – with
notable stops at beloved venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 28 and
29. On sale begins June 27.
Displaying
his honky-tonk stylings on CMA Fest stages earlier this month, Billboard declared
that Worthington, “conjured up the ghosts of country legends like George
Jones and Waylon Jennings with his twangy, authentic traditionalism and big
voice,” during his set. He will continue to bring pure country anthems to
venues across the country, including a run of home-state shows dubbed Jake
Worthington's Texas Two Step, followed by supporting slots on Jon

La Porte, Texas native wrote the song alongside Stuart and Jenna LaMaster with
legendary hall-of-famer Stuart lending his masterful guitar talents to the

as the first release since Worthington's down-on-your-luck duet “Hello Shitty
Day” with superstar Miranda Lambert.

Growing up in the small town of La Porte, TX,
Country singer-songwriter and recent NBC The Voice star Jake
Worthington spent his days fishing, mudding, and playing sports. Now most
well-known from Season 6 of NBC's The
Voice, Worthington gained the title of runner-up while under the guidance
of Country music superstar Blake Shelton
in 2014.
While on the show Jake released three songs that
reached the Billboard Top 20, with Blake commenting: “In six seasons of being a coach on this show I don’t think there’s ever
been a more sincere narrative of a lyric than Jake. That’s a trait only a true
country artist has.”. Success from The Voice and the media surrounding his
