Morgan Wallen’s Stoic Surprise Release, “Smile,” Out Now

MORGAN WALLEN DROPS NEW TRACK + VIDEO FOR “SMILE”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – 19x Billboard Music Awards winner and two-time 2025 GRAMMY nominee Morgan Wallen surprises fans with an unexpected release, “Smile” on January 3rd, originally teased on Wallen’s Instagram and TikTok.

Listen HERE and watch the official music video, directed by Justin Clough, below:
Written by Wallen, Rocky Block, John Byron, Ernest Keith Smith, Ryan Vojtesak and Luis Witkiewitz, “Smile” is a continuation of a theme set by previous releases, “Lies Lies Lies” and “Love Somebody,” as the narrator navigates life’s little moments and longings. “Smile” depicts a relationship as we see them today through filtered snapshots: It was good to see you smile / Girl you know it’s been a while / It was good to see you smile / Even if it was just for the picture.

“Lies Lies Lies” recently became Wallen’s 16th No. 1 at country radio, while “Love Somebody” – celebrated by HITS Daily Double as a “heartbreak hit-in-the-making,” and Billboard as an “instantaneous chart-topper” – debuted at No. 1 globally across five countries, becoming Wallen’s first solo song to debut at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 100 chart upon release. “Love Somebody” led Wallen to become the first artist to have three singles sit atop the Billboard 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously.

After concluding his record-breaking One Night At A Time Tour in October – which spanned 87 shows, 57 stadium shows and 10 countries across two years – Wallen will host his inaugural Sand In My Boots Festival on the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL in 2025. The festival, which sold out in less than two hours of on-sale, will feature headlining sets by Wallen, Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn and HARDY across three days and three nights, with additional guests including Riley Green, Bailey Zimmerman, T-Pain, Diplo, Wiz Khalifa, The War on Drugs, 2 Chainz, Chase Rice, Three 6 Mafia, 3 Doors Down, Ella Langley, ERNEST, Morgan Wade, Moneybagg Yo and more. About Morgan Wallen

When 19-time Billboard Music Awards-winner and two-time 2025 GRAMMY nominee Morgan Wallen released his third studio album One Thing At A Time in 2023, its instant success left The New York Times proclaiming Wallen as “one of the biggest stars in pop, period.” One Thing At A Time has remained atop the all-genre Billboard 200 chart for 19 non-consecutive weeks, the most weeks at No. 1 for a Country album, and was the most-streamed album of the year on Spotify. His collaboration with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” became only the second single in chart history to debut with the support of all reporting stations and remained No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 all-genre charts for six weeks. Wallen’s recent release, “Love Somebody,” debuted at No. 1 globally across five countries and 11 charts. “Love Somebody” led Wallen to become the first artist to have three singles sit atop the Billboard 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously.

With 16 chart-toppers at country radio, Wallen’s 87-show One Night At A Time World Tour, spanning two years, 10 countries/3 continents and 51 stadium plays, concluded at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 19. Performing to over 3.1 million fans, One Night At A Time was named a Billboard and Pollstar Country Tour of the Year in 2023, as well as People’s Choice Country Concert Tour of 2024, surpassing attendance records in numerous stops; including Neyland Stadium and Ohio Stadium, where Wallen became the largest weekend ever for both venues. Wallen donates a portion from every ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation.

Morgan Wallen’s Message To Fans
It’s been a turbulent year for Morgan Wallen to say the least; he went out on the road for one of the biggest live country music tours of 2024, with sold-out shows across the world… he won CMA’s “Entertainer Of The Year”, and found himself in court multiple times for reckless behaviour. But Morgan can now finally say goodbye to 2024!

He has been one of the most influential country musicians of the year, and often one of the biggest driving forces in the growth of country music worldwide. In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram, the country star thanked his fans for wanting to hear his voice.
Despite his stratospheric success in recent years, it sounds like one of the only people who doubts Morgan is himself.

Morgan Wallen was named Top Country Artist at the Billboard Music Awards held on Dec 12, 2024. He also got Top Male Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Collaboration for his hit I Had Some Help with Post Malone.
The awards are decided based on performance on the official Billboard charts during the year.

Morgan Wallen’s drops new song “Love Somebody”

Morgan Wallen’s drops new song “Love Somebody”
AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW

One Night At A Time Concludes This Weekend w/ Two Consecutive Nights at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium, Oct. 18-19

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On the heels of his third studio album One Thing At A Time attaining 7x Platinum certification by the RIAA, this year’s leading CMA Award nominee Morgan Wallen delivers the first taste of his upcoming project, releasing “Love Somebody,” available now. Listen
HERE (preferred platform) or below:

“‘Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” shares Wallen. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about, how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”

“Love Somebody” was written by Wallen alongside John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv and Ryan Vojtesak, and was produced by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome (Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time). Craving something different against a neon-lit backdrop, the East Tennessean singer/songwriter offers a candid glimpse at the difficulties of finding someone “Who ain't hypnotized / By dollar signs and blindin' lights,” as he searches for authenticity.

        I just wanna love somebody
Who won't leave a hole in my heart
        I just wanna love somebody
That don’t want me fallin’ apart
And I’ll be lucky if I ever find
A somethin' more than just a crazy night

        I just wanna love somebody

Riding high off the success of Billboard’s 2024 Song of the Summer “I Had Some Help” with Post Malone and latest single, “Lies, Lies, Lies,” Wallen, originally previewed “Love Somebody” on the European leg of his One Night At A Time 2024 Tour. He later announced the single’s official release at his history-making, double header hometown shows at University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Neyland Stadium, where he surpassed The Jackson 5 as the venue's largest weekend ever, performing for 156,161 fans across two shows.

Wallen will conclude his One Night At A Time tour this weekend with two consecutive nights at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium Oct. 18-19. One Night At A Time spanned 87 shows, 10 countries, 51 stadium plays, as well as festivals and arenas across two years, and was named a 2023 Billboard and Pollstar Country Tour of the Year.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Nov 19, 2023) – Dick Clark Productions and Billboard celebrated the hottest names in music with the “2023 Billboard Music Awards” (BBMAs) Presented by Marriott Bonvoy. The reimagined awards show entertained fans with a celebration of music’s greatest achievements featuring bespoke performances by the world’s biggest chart-topping artists performing at unique locations across the globe, winner celebrations, and surprise moments. The show rolled out across BBMAs and Billboard social channels, as well as via BBMAs.watch.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards officially handed out all the night’s prizes – so who emerged the big winner?
Morgan Wallen took home the most trophies of the night with 11 wins – including Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Hot 100 Song, and more.
After the winners were announced all day and the night’s performances rolled out on BBMAs.watch and across BBMA and Billboard social accounts.

Taylor Swift was the biggest female winner adding 10 prizes on the night. (In fact, Swift’s 10 wins and Drake’s five on Sunday night put them in a tie for the winningest artists of all time at the Billboard Music Awards.)

RECAP: Taylor Swift took home the coveted Top Artist award and a total of 10 trophies – bringing her career total to 39 wins. She now ties Drake as the most decorated BBMA winner of all time. In Swift’s acceptance speech she said, “The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards… I’m talking to the fans specifically, none of this happens without you. Billboard base(s) everything off of what you are listening to and what you are passionate about, and I am so honored that this year you made “The Eras Tour” so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings…I love you so much, I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have you in my corner and caring about the music that I make, so thank you, thank you, thank you, 10 million times.”

It was also a big night for Drake with 5 wins; SZA and Zach Bryan with 4 wins, and 21 SavageBad BunnyBeyoncé, and Miley Cyrus each with 3 wins. Plus, Anne WilsonArctic MonkeysBLACKPINKBurna BoyCeCe WinansFuerza Regida, Joey Moi, Latto, Metro Boomin, NewJeans, Peso PlumaRemaSelena Gomez, and Stray Kids all received their first-ever win.
In addition to performing, the Queen of Christmas and music icon Mariah Carey was honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the chart-topping holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which was presented to her by her children Roc and Roe.

This year’s show was an epic celebration of the fans who propelled their favorite artists to the top of the Billboard charts. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, BBMAs partnered with Spotify’s Fans First program, which used Spotify listener data to identify the performers’ most loyal fans and invited them to attend the intimate BBMA performances.

Morgan Wallen won awards for both top Billboard 200 album (ONE THING AT A TIME) and top Hot 100 song (“Last Night”). It’s the first time one artist has swept both of those key awards in the same year since Usher scored in 2004 with Confessions and his megahit “Yeah!” (featuring Lil Jon & Ludacris).

(Note: The BBMAs were on hiatus from 2007-10.) Wallen had previously won four BBMAs. His new career total of 15 awards puts him second only to Garth Brooks among country artists. Brooks has won 20 BBMAs.

Swift won top artist for the third time, which puts her in a tie with Drake for the most wins in that category.

Wallen thoroughly dominated the country categories, winning top country artist, top country album, top country song and top country tour. https://www.billboard.com/h/bbmaswatch/

Morgan Wallen Expands His Impact On Billboard’s Year-End Country Charts

One year at a time, Morgan Wallen has increased his dominance on the Billboard year-end charts, and in 2023, he extended that influence by owning the No. 1 position on a dozen of the 28 lists devoted to the genre’s commercial mainstream.

Wallen made it a three-peat on four year-end country charts, landing at the summit on Top Country Artists, Top Country ArtistsMale, Top Hot Country Songs Artists and Top Country Albums Artists.
He outpaced the field on Top Country Streaming Songs Artists for the fourth straight year.

He also reigned on Top Country Albums Titles a third year in a row, though the actual title at the top is different. DANGEROUS: THE DOUBLE ALBUM led in 2021 and 2022, but slipped to No.2 on the 2023 edition, replaced by his follow-up, ONE THING AT A TIME. Wallen’s debut album, If I Know Me, gives him three top 10 entries among Country Albums Titles, finishing the tracking year at No. 8.

Wallen lodged his first No. 1s on Billboard’s year-end country lists when “Whiskey Glasses” propelled him to the top of two charts in 2019. He was a double winner again in 2020, then expanded to six No. 1s in 2021, nine in 2022 and 12 this year. His repeats from 2022 come with Top Country Airplay Artists, plus Top Hot Country Songs and Top Country Streaming Songs. “Last Night” replaces “Wasted On You” atop the latter two lists. The three charts he conquered for the first time in 2023 are Top Country Airplay Songs, Top Country Digital Songs Artists and Top Country Tours. As if that’s not enough, Wallen is also the No. 1 Hot 100 Artist and “Last Night” is the top Hot 100 Song.

Thanks in great part to Wallen’s command in the genre, Big Loud collected four No. 1s as a label or imprint, and his producer, Joey Moi (HARDY, Jake Owen), took the Top Hot Country Songs Producers title a third consecutive year.

Beyond Wallen, six other artists ranked No. 1 among the 32 total country or country-related yearend charts. Zach Bryan ascended to the lead on three lists — Top Hot Country Songwriters and the twobAmericana/folk summaries — and Billy Strings owned both bluegrass charts. Additionally, Zac Brown Band repeated among Top Country Artists — Duo/Group, and Taylor Swift, who earned three top 10s on Top Country Albums Titles, snared Top Country Artists — Female.

Megan Moroney reigned on Top Country Artists — New, and Jason Aldean’sTry That in a Small Town” led on Top Country Digital Songs Titles.

Republic won two label and imprint battles, and Universal headed Top Country Albums Distributors. Warner Music Group came up victorious on two charts, with Warner Music Nashville claiming its fourth straight crown on Top Country Airplay Imprints and BMI-affiliated Warner-Tamerlane taking Top Hot Country Songs Publishers for the seventh year in a row.
Sony Music grabbed Top Hot Country Songs Publishing Corporations for the fourth consecutive year.
  • Historically, Billboard’s year-end charts have been compiled in December. For 2023, the chart eligibility period was tweaked to coincide with the shift of the Billboard Music Awards to a Nov. 19 broadcast date.
Following are the No.1 entries on each of the country year-end charts.

Currently Electrifying Huge Crowds On Florida Georgia Line’s
THE SMOOTH TOUR 2017

Nashville, Tenn. (July 3, 2017) – Big Loud Records breakout talent Morgan Wallen takes another step along his path to Country stardom this week, making his Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday, July 7.

Taking the historic, world-famous stage for the first time, Wallen will join the ranks of legendary Opry performers like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Garth Brooks, as he introduces fans from around the globe to his down-home meets new-school Country style.
Wallen’s drawling, take-me-as-I-come debut single “The Way I Talk” has already struck a chord with fans at Country radio, rising into the Top 35 of the airplay charts.
“So many legends, heroes, and pioneers of Country music have paved the way for guys like me to make my debut,” shares Wallen. “To even be recognized in the same sentence as artists from Hank Williams to Roy Acuff and Alan Jackson to Garth Brooks – plus so many more, is a huge honor for me. I never would have imagined this in my wildest dreams growing up. Hopefully this is my first of many trips to the Opry stage!”
Written by Jessi Alexander, Ben Hayslip, and Chase McGill, “The Way I Talk” (Big Loud Records) is the first tease and title track of Wallen’s blistering debut EP (produced by Florida Georgia Line studio ace Joey Moi), and has already been streamed over 10 million times on Spotify alone.
Sent to country radio on August 22, 2016 with an impact date Sept 12, 2016, The Way I Talk peaked at #30 on Billboard Country Airplay (chart dated May 6, 2017) and #35 on Hot Country Songs (chart June 24, 2017; 16th chart frame)

Showing off the Knoxville native’s dynamic vocals and a sound straight out of the modern South, the song’s free-and-easy video premiered on CMT, as Wallen was named one of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need to Know” and Taste of Country’s 2017 Risers.

He has since passed another career milestone, earning a writer’s credit on the rocking new single from A Thousand Horses, “Preachin’ To the Choir.”
Wallen is currently making an impact on the road, opening up shows to massive crowds on select dates of FGL’s genre-busting THE SMOOTH TOUR 2017 alongside Hip-Hop icon Nelly and breakthrough Country star (and labelmate) Chris Lane. His jam-packed concert schedule continues through late October.

About Morgan Wallen:
Born in Sneedville, Tenn. (also home to bluegrass legend Jimmy Martin), Wallen was a star on the baseball diamond, attended the same high school as Country superstar Kenny Chesney, and has deep roots in the church.
With a Hard Rock-loving preacher for a father and a mother who couldn’t get enough Country and contemporary Christian music, Wallen began performing for his local congregation at the tender age of 3 and went on to develop a strong love of Country, Rock and Hip-Hop.
In 2014, he competed on Season 6 of The Voice, but was eliminated (episode 18; April 18, 2014; steal coach Adam Levine)
After moving to Music City in 2015, he’s co-written with hitmakers like Craig Wiseman, Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins, the Warren Brothers, Tommy Cecil and Matt Dragstrem, and has been honing his studio poise with award-winning producer Joey Moi.
