country artist Jesse Daniel releases his new album SON OF THE SAN
LORENZO via Lightning Rod Records.
Recorded
live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville and featuring a collaboration
with Charles Wesley Godwin, the 11-song collection offers up a candid
accounting of Daniel’s remarkable journey, from his early years hitchhiking in
the shadow of the Santa Cruz Mountains to his tumultuous adolescence and
battles with addiction, to the people, and music, that ultimately saved his
life.
This
summer, Daniel will traverse across continents with shows in Brazil, a tour
through Europe, a West Coast run and his debut headline show at the
legendary Texas institution Billy Bob’s. He’ll then make his way down to

Carpenter dropped her new album Personal History on June 6, 2025.
The
eleven-track collection, produced by Josh Kaufman and recorded live at Peter
Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Bath, England, is more autobiographical for the
singer than any project she’s released before.
In
early 2025 the 11-song collection was recorded at Real World Studios in Box,
England, with Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, The National, The Hold Steady)
producing and a world-class band of musicians: Matt Rollings (piano,
organ, accordion, xylophone), Duke Levine (electricguitar, hammer dulcimer), Chris Vatalaro
(drums, percussion), Cameron Ralston (bass), and Kaufman ( guitar,
organ, harmonium, harmonica). Anais Mitchell lends harmonies to ‘Home Is
A Song.’
Already
receiving critical attention, UNCUT calls it a “late career
highlight” and continues, “Mary Chapin Carpenter has struck a deep vein of
mature singer-songwriting that recalls the way Emmylou Harris surpassed
everything she had done before with 2000’s Red Dirt Girl,” while Music

that line and taking an audible breath. In that moment, I said out loud to no
one, ‘Oh, that’s what the songs are.’”

started writing the songs on this album as the pandemic began winding down,”
Carpenter recalled. “What Did You Miss pointed the way forward, with its final
verse: ‘I’ve been writing it down / song by song / as a personal history.’ (I
have been) imagining this collection of songs as memoir, and how the wisdom
that comes with growing older becomes a north star, whether one is celebrating
life’s joys or navigating life’s inevitable losses.

in London. This unique event celebrated the release of her new album.

conversation with Mary Chapin Carpenter and screenwriter Nicole Taylor,
with acoustic performances.
Nicole
Taylor is a screenwriter, originally from Glasgow. She adapted David Nicholls’
bestseller ONE DAY into a 14 part series for Netflix which went to global
number one and received widespread critical and audience acclaim. She also
wrote THREE GIRLS for BBC1 about the Rochdale grooming scandal, which won five
BAFTAs, and the film WILD ROSE, starring Jessie Buckley and Julie Walters. The
film is now the basis for a new musical, for which Nicole has written the book.
Directed by John Tiffany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), it received its
world premiere at the Edinburgh Lyceum in March 2025.
On
the heels of the album’s release, Carpenter will join forces with fellow Grammy

One
of music’s “most reliable and empathetic songwriters” (Pitchfork),
Carpenter has sold over 17 million records over the course of her renowned
career. With hits like “Down At The Twist And Shout” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep
Her,” she has won five Grammy Awards (with 18 nominations), two CMA Awards, two
ACM Awards, is one of only twenty-two female members of the Nashville
Songwriters Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the 2023 ACM Honors Poet’s
Award.
Carpenter’s
last solo recording, 2021’s One Night Lonely (Live), was nominated
for Best Folk Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards—exactly 30 years after her
very first nomination. A rare solo performance, the album was recorded at
Virginia’s legendary Wolf Trap and features songs from across her acclaimed
career, including from her last solo studio album, The Dirt And The
Stars.

Most
recently, Carpenter released Looking For The Thread, a collaborative
album with legendary Scottish folk stars and songwriters Karine Polwart and
Julie Fowlis. Released to widespread praise, Folk Alley describes it as,
“a set of warm, introspective, and stunningly gorgeous songs…It’s beauty and
warmth touch our souls deeply, and each song is a many faceted gem of love and
hope,” while Music Row calls the project “enchanting” and The Arts
Desk declares, “It’s only January but this is an album of the year…a class
act, heartfelt and beautifully crafted.”
In
addition to her work as a musician, last fall Carpenter unveiled her new
podcast, “Hope is a Muscle,” which finds her in conversation with people from
all walks of life including Joan Baez, Adriene Mishler, John Darnielle and
U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin. During its run, the podcast was in
the top five music podcasts on both Apple and Spotify Platforms. Previously, in
2020, Carpenter released the three-part audio liner notes podcast, “One Story,”
with American poet, Sarah Kay.

Today, the Iowa-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Hailey Whitters released

Produced
once again by herlongtime collaborator (and now-husband) Jake
Gear, the 16-song collection is a rousing reflection on Whitters'
midwestern roots and the joys and struggles of small-town living, featuring
special guests Molly Tuttle, Charles Wesley Godwin and The
Wilder Blue. This morning, Whitters released the official video for
the dreamy and ethereal “White Limousine,” directed by Beth
Brinker, that tells the story of a small town girl with fantasies of the glitz
and glamour of a faraway life.
With
‘Corn Queen,' Hailey Whitters delivers a love letter to the Midwest, to the
women who raised her, to herself and to the ever-evolving sound of country

Bluegrass
star Molly Tuttle joins Whitters on guitar and vocals on “Prodigal Daughter”,
and country folk artist Charles Wesley Godwin duets on “I Don’t Know You”.
These two songs provide a welcome musical contrast to the other cuts on the
album. These cuts are more explicitly serious and show Whitters’ ability to
play and sing it straight. While 16 tracks may seem too much to put on one
record, are there ever too many kernels to fit on an ear of corn? All hail the
queen!

About
the new song, Whitters explains: “I've waited a long time to put out this
record. I wrote and recorded this song for a duets record called Countrypolitan that
unfortunately never will see the light of day, but this was always my favorite
song on that record so it gives me triumph to be able to reclaim it on Corn
Queen. This song defines the 'Queen' side of the album. The video captures
that romanticized escapism that anyone who's ever lived in a small town has
probably experienced at some point or another. I know I definitely did! Props
to my creative director Beth Brinker for bringing Palm Springs to the
cornfield.”
Following
her album release party earlier this week at Skinny Dennis presented by Holler,
Whitters will celebrated the album release with an in-store performance and
signing at Grimey's (Friday, June 6, 2025 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) . Fans could purchase the vinyl LP
and CD at Grimeys.com or inside the record store for a signing wristband. Later
that evening, Whitters performed at Spotify House Live
At Ole Red at 7:30 p.m. as part of CMA Fest.

“Prodigal
Daughter” featuring Molly Tuttle was named one of the Best Songs
of 2025 (So Far) by Vulture and praised as “Hailey at her
best” by All Country News. At the top of the year, she shared
shared “Casseroles,” which was lauded as a “Song
You Need to Know” (Rolling Stone), a “nuanced reflection on
grief and recovery” (Billboard), “an undeniable triumph” (Holler),
a “testament that she can hang with some of the genre's best” (Country
Central), “proof she's only getting better” (Wide Open Country) and
“a beautiful and striking tune” (Whiskey Riff).
“Fans
started calling me the 'Corn Queen' because I'm from Iowa,” Whitters says about
the album's title. “At first, it seemed kind of silly, but the more I thought
about it, the more I loved the duality of it. Corn is this simple, humble crop,
and 'queen' implies royalty passed down through blood. I come from a long line
of blue-collar farmers and construction workers. I've been out here for over a
decade brushing my teeth in truck stop bathrooms, sleeping on hotel floors,
driving myself from gig to gig. It's not glamorous, but I'm proud of it. I like
the idea of a queen with a little grit and elbow grease.”

ABOUT
HAILEY WHITTERS
Hailey
Whitters is a GRAMMY-nominated, platinum-selling singer/songwriter from
Shueyville, Iowa, and currently living in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2023, she
took home the ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year and was nominated for
New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards. That same year, she made her
late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, soon followed by
performances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, NBC's Today and
the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards, where she performed her
platinum-certified single “Everything She Ain't.” The song appeared on her
breakthrough album Raised, which was named Rolling Stone's
#1 country album of the year and, like her 2020 album The Dream,
appeared on over 15 other year-end best-of lists. “Everything She Ain't” marked
multiple firsts for Whitters, including her first-ever top-20 single at country
radio, her debut on the Billboard Hot 100, and RIAA Platinum certification.
Over the last five years, Whitters has toured with Luke Combs, Shania Twain,
