announced for the 54TH ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC
AWARDS™, which aired LIVE last night, hosted by iconic entertainer
and 16-time ACM Award® winner, Reba McEntire, on
the CBS Television Network from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

ACM Awards Star Power
The “54th ACADEMY OF
COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS” announced a “must-see performance” that included actress Chrissy Metz, who stars in the upcoming
film “Breakthrough” and the hit “TV show “This
Is Us.” Metz joined Lauren Alaina, Mickey
Guyton, Maddie & Tae and Carrie Underwood on a rendition of the
film soundtrack song, “I’m Standing With You.” The live collaboration also
spotlighted the ACM’s charitable arm, ACM
LIFTING LIVES.
Prior to the awards show
telecast, Country artist Michael Ray
co-hosted the live-streaming digital red carpet pre-show alongside PEOPLE Exec.
Editor Cynthia Sanz and PEOPLE NOW’s
Jeremy Parsons, and Andrea Boehlke. The coverage, in partnership with the Academy
Of Country Music and Dick Clark Productions, was available exclusively on all

On Friday (April 5), New
Female Artist of the Year nominee Country singer Carly Pearce helped >> present
the second annual AFLAC ACM
LIFTING LIVES HONOR to an individual in recognition of for his or her
outstanding support in the music community. The honoree this year award went to
Brandon Ray. The event took place

The ACM Awards named Keith Urban as Entertainer of the Year, his first win in the category and the evening’s biggest honor. With this win, he will receive the prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award, as he previously received awards for New Male Vocalist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Dan + Shay won Duo of the Year as well as Song of the Year and Single of the Year for “Tequila.” In addition to the wins as an artist, Dan Smyers received two individual wins as a producer in the Single of the Year category and songwriter in the Song of the Year category.
Kacey Musgraves won Female Artist of the Year for the first
time. She also won Album of the Year
as both artist and producer, for Golden Hour. Musgraves
previously won in the Album of the Year category in 2013 for Same Trailer Different Park.
Music-News.com - Kacey was 'turned off' idea of becoming an
artist and had no intention of becoming an artist until she found herself
refusing to give up tunes she had penned as a songwriter. The Follow Your Arrow
hitmaker developed a passion for singing when she was a child, and quickly
learned how to play the mandolin and guitar, but as she began weighing up her
career options as a teen, the idea of being thrust into the limelight didn't
really appeal to her. It was only after moving to Nashville, Tennessee from her
native Texas at the age of 19 that she settled on the idea of establishing herself
as a songwriter.
However,
that all changed when Kacey struggled with the thought of handing over some of
her most treasured tracks to others to record. "I was kind of turned off by
the whole artist side of things," she told U.S. breakfast show
This Morning. "And then somewhere along the way, I started collecting

ACM Awards: Kacey Musgraves Texas Native - hopes to see
country music becoming more inclusive:
Thomas Rhett won Male Vocalist of the Year for the second time. He first won the award at the 52ndACM Awards in 2017.
Following his Rhett
released the music video for “Look What God Gave Her” premiering via CMT's Hot
20 Countdown. Fans were able to catch the video every hour over the weekend, as
it simultaneously took-over the Viacom billboard in the heart of Times Square.
With color-blasted visuals and a swaggering performance, the video directed by
TK McKamy showcases a series of trailblazing women who are all inspirational
ground-shakers – ranging from charitable leaders, mothers, artists and beyond –
heightening the celebratory message behind the “summery single” (Billboard).
During
the telecast, former ACM Artist of the Decade Award honoree George Strait presented Jason Aldean with the ACM Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award. In celebration of the
honor, Aldean performed a medley of his hits including “Lights Come On,” “Don’t
You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson and “Dirt Road Anthem.”
Old Dominion won Group of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. During the ACM Awards red carpet, Songwriter of the Year winner Shane McAnally surprised Old Dominion on the red carpet at the PEOPLE Digital Red Carpet Pre-Show with the news of their win.
Earlier in the day it was also announced Dierks Bentley and Brothers Osborne won Music Event of the Year for “Burning Man,” and Chris Janson won ACM Video of the Year” for “Drunk Girl.” McEntire surprised Janson with the news backstage before the show.
Luke Combs, LANCO and 35-year-old Ashley McBryde were also previously announced winners of the New Male Artist of the Year, New Group of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year, respectively and each performed on the show.
The winners
received a surprise phone call from
host Carrie Underwood last month notifying them of the
news.
Shane McAnally was
announced as the winner of this year’s ACM
Songwriter of the Year Award on Friday at the ACM Stories, Songs &
Stars: A Songwriter’s Event Benefitting ACM Lifting Lives, which was presented
to him by the event’s hosts Hillary Scott and Storme Warren, alongside reigning
ACM Songwriter of the Year winner, Rhett Akins.
Country
Music’s Party of the Year featured an all-star lineup of collaborations and
memorable performances. The awards telecast once again featured “ACM Flashbacks”
with 29-time ACM Award-winning duo Brooks & Dunn performing
“Brand New Man” with Luke Combs, and the
King of Country Music and 24-time ACM Award winner George Strait performing “Run” with Miranda Lambert. In addition, Lambert, the most-awarded
artist in ACM Awards history with 32 wins, performed a flashback medley of her
greatest hits.
Chrissy
Metz, star of the upcoming movie BREAKTHROUGH, made
her live television performance debut at the ACM Awards and was joined on stage
by Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, Maddie & Tae and Carrie Underwood for a special rendition of
the song “I’m Standing With You” from the film’s soundtrack. The powerful
performance spotlighted ACM Lifting Lives®, the philanthropic arm of the
Academy of Country Music dedicated to improving lives through the power of
music.
The
awards telecast also featured solo performances by Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Reba McEntire,
Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, George Strait,
Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Additional
highlights included collaborations by Dierks Bentley & Brandi

Taking the stage in a black sequinned jumpsuit to perform a rendition of her track Little Red Wagon, which traditionally features the line "I live in Oklahoma", where she used to reside with Blake while they were married between 2011 and 2015. On Sunday night, she altered the lyrics and belted out the updated line, "I got the hell out of Oklahoma." It's not the first time she has revamped the words, but the first time she has done so at an event where her ex-husband and his new girlfriend Gwen Stefani were present. A number of Twitter users praised Miranda for her shady move, with one writing, "Miranda Lambert just sang 'got the hell out of Oklahoma' with Blake Shelton in the room and I have so much respect (clapping emojis)". However, others were less than impressed, with one writing, "That was a classless move towards Blake, no reason for that," and another posting, "Um, @mirandalambert you can stop cussing Oklahoma in your jabs at Blake...move on already."
