Eileen
Carey Explores Stay-or-Go Dilemma in New Single, "That Town"
(April
26, 2018/Nashville, TN) We’ve all had to make that decision: Do we remain in
the town we grew up in—the place that gave us emotional context and
predictability—or do we cross our fingers and set out to discover strange new
worlds?
For
singer-songwriter Eileen Carey, it’s the latter. In her bittersweet new single,
“That
Town,” she acknowledges “I know I’ll miss this place” but ultimately
concludes “I’ve got somewhere to be.” That undefined “somewhere” is the
irresistible lure.
Carey’s
songs display a particular genius for zeroing in on moments that give life its
tension and flavor—whether it’s via her romantic fantasy “In the Air,” her
sadder-but-wiser “Let It Go” or her sisterly advice to an out-of-control
friend, “Bottle Your Crazy Up.”
The
wisdom and good humor in her songs have built Carey a large and growing
audience and earned her near-permanent residence on the New Music Weekly
charts.
Carey
crafted “That Town” with co-writers Marta Woodhull, Paul Masvidal, John Phillip
Shenale and Travis Allen. Allen also produced the single.
Next
up for Carey is a tour of radio stations to introduce programmers to “That
Town.” Then it’s back to the concert trail.
Her
new single "That Town" premiered on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, with on-air
personality Captain Jack Aponte on Renegade
Radio Nashville (Website | Facebook), which is a Global Internet Radio Station based out of
Nashville, TN.
Sometimes
a song is more than a song. Think Garth
Brooks’ “The Dance,” which animated an entire generation to see life for its
possibilities, not its pitfalls. Or Joe
Nichols’ dare-to-dream epic, “The Impossible.” Now comes Eileen Carey’s sassy
new single, “Let It Go,” to remind us that we can soar if we only have the
grit to cast off those petty circumstances that tend to tie us down. Eileen
will debut “Let It Go” on CDX No. 588 and MPE on Monday, Feb. 3, 2017 and
follow up the release with performance, interviews and meet-and-greets at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville Feb.
19-21. “Let It Go” is the title track
from Eileen’s current album set for release this February.
A
native of Cleveland, Ohio, Eileen Carey currently lives in California, where
she’s distinguished herself as a singer, actress and artist-ambassador for the
Supercuts beauty salon chain. In 2009,
she won the Los Angeles Music Award for Americana Album of the Year and in 2010
the Producer’s Choice Award for Dance Single of the Year. Her movie credits include Hoffa, Batman and
Basic Instinct.
“I
try to use my music to give people a different way of thinking, a different
outlet,” says Eileen. In “Let It Go,”
she achieves that goal magnificently.
The 11-
track album was original released on Jan 1, 2014
The
album includes cover “Don't Get Me Wrong” (Katrina and the Waves'; #8 UK Hit
1985), “Walking On Sunshine” (Katrina and the Waves; 1985; #8 hit in the UK)
and “Only the Lonely” (The Motels; 1982; #9 Billboard Hot 100)

Proving
that love is more inspiring than hate, award-winning country star Eileen Carey has countered recent terrorist attacks,
racial violence, and global turmoil with “In The
Air” (Spotify) her
feel-good ode to the City of Love, Paris, France. Credited by music blog Country Music, ATK with
blending pop, country, and rock in a way that feels uniquely hers, Carey was
recently named the 2016 National Radio Hits Favorite Female Country Artist of
the Year and New Music Weekly’s Country Breakthrough Artist of the Year. In
the Air features champagne, limousines, movie stars, and, of course,
love. "In the Air" is the first single from Carey’s fifth studio
album, produced by Travis Allen Childress and set for release later this fall.
According to Carey, “In the Air” is a heartfelt tribute to Paris, the city she
visited two weeks before terrorists killed 130 people there in November of
2015:
Paris is such a whirlwind of love, romance, and
excitement that the terrorist attacks there felt personal to me. I had just
visited the City of Love two weeks before. It inspired me to write a love song
for two people set in the gaiety that is still Paris, a kind of victory for the
spirit of love.
Having
recently made her third consecutive appearance at the CMA Music Festival in
Nashville, Carey’s “Bottle Your Crazy Up” reached #1 nationally in 2015, where
it competed with major-label country performers. Carey’s three released singles
are from Let It Go, her
most successful album to date. Carey won The Academia Music Awards Best
Country/Rock Song of the Year for “Bottle Your Crazy Up”. Akadamia.com called
Carey’s composition and performance a clever country jam with dulcet vocals and
superb instrumentation, illustrating one of the most stringent performance
standards we've encountered.
Carey's last three music videos, “Bottle Your Crazy Up”, the feel-good
summer release “Party at the Beach” and “Faith” have accumulated more than
105,000 Youtube views. Her single “Faith” reached the very top of all the NMW (New Music Weekly) country radio
charts (Main, Indie, Internet), and also reached the very top spot in all the
NMW AC charts and Top 40 charts as well. “Faith” also made an appearance on
Music Row's Country Breakout chart. Eileen’s current single, from the LET IT GO
album (Jan 2014 Amazon UK), “Bring
on the big” is currently holding on to the #1 spot on the NMW Country charts
for weeks, and appeared at #1 on the NMW Adult Contemporary Hot AC chart as
well.
Carey has also started posting in her new blog, The Music Mom. The Music Mom reveals Carey's desire to
positively impact others via the sharing of her experiences and wisdom: The world is filled with ups and downs, so
if I can help people see things in a new and more positive light, perhaps they
can find a better place in life.
