The 55th Annual ASCAP Awards


ASCAP Awards honor composers, authors, publishers
Dierks Bentley’s “Somewhere on a Beach” Takes Song of the Year
Ashley Gorley crowned ASCAP Country Music Songwriter of the Year for an unprecedented fifth time

On November 6, 2017 country’s brightest lights lit up the Ryman Auditorium for the 55th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards in Nashville. The event brought out a who’s who of country hitmakers and luminaries with performances that honored their most performed country songs of 2016.

Dierks Bentley took home Song Of The Year for “Somewhere on a Beach”

Matthew Ramsey of Old Dominion received Songwriter/Artist of the Year for the two songs he recorded with his band Old Dominion (“Snapback” and “Song for Another Time”) and his hit for Sam Hunt, “Make You Miss Me.”

 Ashley Gorley (Image) was named Songwriter of the Year for his fifth time for his nine award-winning songs.

The year's top five songs were also recognized and performed. They were introduced by special presenters including LANCO, Midland, Carly Pearce, The Sisterhood and Seth Ennis.
The evening, which ASCAP president and chairman of the board Paul Williams described as "a celebration of music’s unique ability to lift us up when we need it most," was peppered with performances.

Americana and country pioneer Rodney Crowell was honoured with performances of three of his classic country songs before receiving the ASCAP Founders Award.

Keith Urban performed “You Won,” followed by Vince Gill, who played "’Til I Gain Control Again" and "Oklahoma Borderline." Gill, told the crowd of songwriters about the time that he and Crowell dressed up as women for a music video they did together.
"He looked like Bette Davis on crack cocaine," Gill joked. "I looked like my granny."

Jimmy Webb performed "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," the song he wrote for the late Glen Campbell
Dierks Bentley performed Song of the Year "Somewhere on a Beach" with songwriters Dave Kuncio and Josh Mirenda
Brett Young performed “Sleep Without You.”
ASCAP honored concert promoter Varnell Enterprises with its Partners in Music Award, in recognition of their ongoing support of ASCAP songwriters and artists.
Warner/Chappell Music Publishing was named Publisher of the Year. ASCAP’s Matthews presented the award to W/C CEO Jon Platt and EVP Ben Vaughn. The company published a record-setting 24 of the most-performed ASCAP country songs of 2016, and earned the top publisher award for the fifth consecutive year.
Kelsea Ballerini earned the ASCAP Vanguard Award ASCAP’s Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Matthews and Grammy Award-winning hit songwriter Hillary Lindsey presented the award. (below)


County music’s darling Kelsea surprised the industry crowd treating them to "In Between" from her brand new album, UNAPOLOGETICALLY.

Kelsea Ballerini - The 24-year-old singer put on a leggy display in a dress with a thigh-high split as she arrived at the ASCAP Country Music Awards on Monday. The Stilettos hitmaker looked absolutely gorgeous in a strapless black number featuring a shimmering bronze skirt with a thigh-high split.

The opening showed off her svelte legs and a pair of black leather heels. Her blonde tresses were worn down in a middle part as she let her natural looks show with complimentary make-up. Read more: Daily Mail
Her fiancé country singer Morgan Evans, 32, rocked all black including suit, shirt and suede boots (Image). The Aussie musician's hair was disheveled as he sported some scruff while posing with his famous fiancee.
The Sisterhood Band – Country duo, comprised of Alyssa Bonagura and Ruby Stewart, signed with SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE (SMN) in June.

54th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards

On Halloween, ASCAP presented a night of incredible treats for its 54th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The event brought out a who’s who of country hitmakers and luminaries.

Bluegrass and country pioneer Ricky Skaggs (a pioneer of bluegrass and country music with 14 Grammys and more than 30 albums to his credit) was honored in song before receiving the ASCAP Founders Award.


Garth Brooks performed “Highway 40 Blues” with Sam Bush and Justin Moses, Alison Krauss, with Jamey Johnson and Suzanne and Sidney Cox of the Cox Family, performed “Waitin’ for the Sun to Shine;” and Peter Frampton and Gordon Kennedy performed “My Cup Runneth Over.”


The ASCAP Founders Award is given to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators.
Hit songwriter Ashley Gorley took home ASCAP Country Music Songwriter of the Year for the third time in a row and the fourth time in his career, for his seven chart-topping songs from 2015.


After a video salute from Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Cole Swindell the audience was treated to a Trace Adkins performance of the Gorley #1 hit, “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
University of Kentucky men's basketball head Coach John Calipari surprised Gorley, a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats, with remarks and presented him with the award on stage.


















Chris Stapleton was honored with the ASCAP Vanguard Award which recognizes the impact of songwriters on genres that are shaping the future of music. ASCAP Senior Creative Director Mike Sistad presented award who was an early Stapleton backer.

TJ and John Osborne, aka Brothers Osborne, performed “Stay a Little Longer,” which received Song of the Year.

The star-studded audience enjoyed performances of ASCAP’s top 5 country music songs of the year: “I’m Comin’ Over” by songwriter Corey Crowder and recording artist Chris Young; “Save It for a Rainy Day” by songwriters Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi; “Gonna” by songwriter Craig Wiseman with Luke Laird; and “Nothin’ Like You” by Dan + Shay and songwriters Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley.

The ASCAP Publisher of the Year Award was presented to Warner/Chappell Music Publishing for publishing 18 of the most-performed ASCAP country songs of 2015, and earned the top publisher award for the fourth consecutive year.

ASCAP honored iHeart Radio personality Bobby Bones with its Partners in Music Award.

Kelsea Ballerini kicked off the evening with a performance of her hit song, “Love Me Like You Mean It.”

2016 ASCAP  FASHION

Kelsea Ballerini and Cassadee Pope hit up the 2016 ASCAP Country Music Awards meeting up with RaeLynn, Tristan McIntosh, plus duos Dan + Shay, and Maddie & Tae inside the event.

For the ASCAP event, Kelsea wore a Hayley Paige "Rooney" gown from the Red Carpet collection dress (Spring 2017 Collection). She added open gold Marchesa heels, jewelry from David Yurman, Modern Moghul, Onirikka and Suzanne Kalan, and carried a Marchesa clutch. She was styled by Nashville Fashion stylist and editor Krista Roser.



Cassadee Pope was wearing a loose fitting sleeved Feathers n Fringe orange floor length robe which had a plunging deep v neck.

Wore a House of CB Russett Two Piece Bustier Trouser set (Product). 
Chic yet sexy 'Rosalva' is beautifully made from a lightweight crepe and features wide leg pants and a co-ordinating wrap bustier top.

Maddie and Tae rocked casual outfits when also pictured performing at CMT’s Next Women of Country on Tuesday (November 1).

































22-year old “Love Triangle” singer RaeLynn was wearing a one shoulder Romona Keveža dress (one of Hollywood Royalty's Most Iconic And Celebrated Designers) which had an encrusted sparkly sash, a fitted bodice and an attached flowing see-thru train. 
She added sandas and Effy Jewelry with makeup by traveling artist Aubrey Jones based in Nashville.
