Yorkshire-based country singer-songwriter Carolynne has confirmed the release of
her debut solo EP 'Coming Back To Me', out on 7th April 2017. Having performed
at festivals and venues across the UK, enjoyed extensive radio play and
national press coverage, and been the first country artist to take to the X
Factor stage, this release of brand new songs follows her previous singles 'Take
the Keys' and 'I Love You But Shut Up'.
ABOUT CAROLYNNE:
For country singer-songwriter Carolynne, music has
always been a priority. Though she's now had over 6.5m views on Youtube to date
and has been featured extensively on national radio, print and television
across the UK, her story starts at the age of just fourteen, when her family of
“country music fanatics” inspired her to hit the road joining five-piece
Country band 'Sundown'. After several years of touring the UK, at eighteen she
left her family home in Yorkshire, heading for London to pursue her career in
music, before long signing a contract with BMG and starting to work as a
published songwriter. The next couple of years took her abroad to Sweden, where
she spent time writing for other pop artists while developing her own
songwriting style & sound, a blend of country, rock and pop. As well as
collaborating with some great songwriters she continued to work as a touring
performer across the U.K.
This allowed Carolynne to hone and develop her
unique style of performance, which would eventually catch the eyes and ears of X Factor judge Gary Barlow when she later appeared on the show as a finalist. Gary
described Carolynne as “supremely talented” with a voice that “just oozes
Country”. With the X Factor propelling her into the public eye in front of
millions of viewers & being the first UK contestant to bring Country music
to the X Factor stage, Carolynne’s next move was unexpected for someone in her
position; knowing she wanted to fulfil her dream as a songwriter, she headed to
the heart of country music and the home of many of her influences - Nashville,
Tennessee.
During her five months spent travelling across the
USA, from Nashville to Arizona and L.A., she performed at every opportunity,
and had the chance to work with, among others, Grammy award-winning songwriter
Jeff Silbar (Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson), who as well as penning
songs for the country elite in Music City also wrote the award-winning hit
‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ .

was released in 2015, attracting strong support from the mainstream and country
media - including a slot on the BBC
Radio 2 playlist and a live acoustic session on Terry Wogan’s Sunday show; national TV
appearances including
Channel 5's The Wright Stuff - and publicity across high-profile press and
magazines such as Maverick, Country Music Magazine and The Independent, Since
then, Carolynne has taken time away from the spotlight to work on new material,
an EP written and produced with long-time collaborators The Elements and mixed
by Ash Howes (One Direction, Ellie Goulding, The Corrs).
She’s continued to perform live in between writing
and recording, including, to much acclaim, an appearance at London’s Country to Country (C2C) 2016 festival
at the O2 arena for the third consecutive year, and a two-night residency at
London’s Live at Zedel, prompting Jennifer Selway at the Daily Express to
describe her songs about heartbreak and desire as having “true country style”.

With a family of country music fanatics, it was almost inevitable that
country music would be in her blood. At the age of just fourteen Carolynne
joined and fronted Sundown, a five-piece Country band, going on to tour the
country circuit in the UK. At eighteen she left her family home in Leeds,
heading for London to pursue her career as a singer-songwriter. In 2000 she
signed her first publishing contract with BMG and took the first step in her
professional songwriting career.

songwriter and head to the heart and soul of country music; Nashville,

(born 28 Feb 1990 in Northampton), is an English cricketer playing for
Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He is a left-handed batsman and bowler. He is
the son of former England cricketer and international umpire Peter Willey.
On 19 August 2015, it was
announced that Willey would be joining Yorkshire on a three-year contract at
the start of the 2016 season. He made his Yorkshire debut against
Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on 1 May 2016.
Carolynne was previously
married to footballer David Poole. In August 2015, Carolynne announced that she

Last weekend (October 6th to 7th, 2012) witnessed the first time on X Factor UK that a contestant describing themselves as a “country” artist had made it through to the live TV stages of the ITV competition.

Sadly it wasn’t to last as Carolynne Poole, the first finalist of 13 had to leave after a controversial and tension-fuelled sing-off elimination on Sunday night Oct 7th.
Second Time Around - Carolynne Poolewho says she’sbeen “working at it for 15 years” fell just short in 2011 leaving X Factor at the Judges Houses round.
So what do we know about Carolynne? Researching online reveals:
Carolynne Poole (née Good; born on 5 August 1980 in Leeds) is an English singer-songwriter and a founding member of the Carolynne Good Band who were based in Leeds and London.
Musical Influences: The Eagles, U2, The Carpenters, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
At the age of 14, Poole joined and fronted a 5-piece country band, with which she toured the UK. At 18, Poole moved to London to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter

Caroylnn choose Miley Cyrus’ track “The Climb”, a song first released March 5, 2009 for the film Hannah Montana: The Movie. The song written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe has been covered by several artists and was popular among auditioners for the ninth season American Idol, with Hollie Cavanagh performing it in the top 6 of the eleventh season. Joe McElderry X Factor’s winner of 2009 covered itand it was a contender for 2009's UK Christmas number one, competing against, and losing out to, Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name". The song moved up #1 in the UK Singles Chart on 27 December 2009.

Carolynne Poole almost gave up on her dream of pop stardom after her confidence was shattered first time around with her Fame acagdemy past experience.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star Sunday Carolynne admitted she spent years plucking up the courage to audition for The X Factor.
She said: “My family have been trying to persuade me to audition for years but the thought of it terrified me.
“I kept thinking what if I couldn’t sing any more? What if they think I’m rubbish?
“I had a really tough time of it after FameAcademy. My confidence went downhill. I didn’t think it would affect me the way it did.
“The whole experience really wasn’t what I thought it would be. I wasn’t allowed to be myself. All I wanted was a recording contract and thought it would be a good opportunity for me. But, sadly, it had the opposite effect.”
She added: “I was shaking with fear and nothing could’ve prepared me for the reaction I got. “I’m a lot older than I was when I did FameAcademy. I’m a young woman now as opposed to the naive girl I was back then. “It definitely helped me when it came to Boot Camp. I managed to put my head down and get on with the task at hand but there were quite a few people who didn’t.”
After singing Katy Perry’s smash hit “Firework” in her audition group she successfully negotiated bootcamp and was the third person of six to have her name called out to represent the Over 25's and reached The X Factor Judges Houses stage as one of six finalists in Louis Walsh’s “Overs” category.

For her audition she performed Lady Antebellum’s smash hit "Need You Now":
She was “booted off” by Walsh over her apparent “lack of passion”. After the rejection Poole said that the flight home from Las Vegas last year was so awful after she didn’t make it through.
But unbeknown to Louis, Carolynne was enduring heartbreak. She had just gone through two failed IVF courses, one of which resulted in a miscarriage at nine weeks, affecting her marriage to ex-footballer David Poole, 27, and breaking her confidence.
Looking at pictures of herself from last year she says “I wasn’t even showing one inch of skin, I stood really coyly. I’d just come out of the IVF. I really didn’t feel confident in my mind or in my physical appearance. Even when Louis told me I wasn’t going through, I put up a front and brushed it off. I even gave him a kiss on the cheek! Nobody knew”
X Factor 2012 First Audition
After the 2011 disappoint Carolynne and David decided to spend some time apart, which gave her the opportunity to focus on her music. David was playing football in a lower league, paying £200 a week. Then he lost his job and they struggled to pay their mortgage. Carolynne who lost 2st in nine months told New Magazine about her traumatic journey (Full story / interview)
Carolynne returned to Series Nine for a second shot at stardom in Manchester at EventCity. Carolynne said: “It was a difficult decision to audition again this year. I was gutted when Louis sent me home and it took me a long time to recover. If it doesn’t work out this time I won’t come back but right now the fight is still on.”
She performed in front of audition judges Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos, MelB (guest judge of Spice Girls fame) and Gary Barlow. She choose to cover Scottish R&B/Soul singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé’s “Clown” fromthe 2012 album OUR VERSION OF EVENTSand the judges gave their verdicts
Mel B said: 'I know you have been through a lot and you have got a lot of pain and hurt, every word you made mean something and that is very endearing to see in a performer and your voice tops it off, it’s just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. 'Whatever you are going through, use it and make it work for you.'
Gary Barlow said:'The overs category is going to be incredible this year, and you are going to be the dark horse of this competition”
An emotional Tulisa said: 'Whatever Louis thought was missing, I think this year, and you’ve got it.
'I feel like I know you more in the however many minutes you have been up there than the whole time you were in the competition before, it’s just like a complete new you and I love it.'
Poole then received four YES VOTES from the judging panel and progressed to the Boot Camp stage!

X Factor UK 2012 Bootcamp
For her Bootcamp audition Carolynne opted for country song “Bless The Broken Road” which hasbeen recorded by several artists. The Rascal Flatts' version being the highest-charting, becoming a #1 hit on the Billboard country music charts in 2005. It earned the songwriters Marcus Hummon, Bobby Boyd and Jeff Hanna who penned it in 1994 a Grammy Award for Best Country Song. It was first recorded by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1994 and also Melodie Crittenden recorded an excellent rendition under the title "Broken Road,"
Carolynne’s performance was enough to take her to next stage as one of 6 contestants in the “Overs” category (Over 28-years old) . TV viewers saw Birkby’s very own Carolynne shed tears of joy as she made it into Gary Barlow’s final six.

X Factor UK 2012 Judges Houses
HER X Factor rivals got to enjoy the sun in Dubai, the Caribbean and Las Vegas but this year Carolynne had to make do with a damp outing to the English Midlands. The talent show hopeful admitted: “I would have sung in my own back garden in Birkby to get through in this competition. That’s one of the reasons I’m glad we stayed in England; the flight home from Las Vegas last year was so awful after I didn’t make it through.
“This year there was no jet lag, no long journeys and I get to grab more sleep to prepare for my audition.
“I’m up against some really talented people and I think the competition this year is far tougher than last, but I know I’m in better shape, vocally and personally.”

In the ‘overs’ category through to the judges’ house in a stately home in Northamptonshire she was up against: Christopher Maloney, 34, a customer services adviser from Liverpool; Brad Shackleton, 37, a motivational speaker from London; Melanie Masson, 44, a full-time mum who also runs an under-fives singing class, from Glasgow; Kye Sones, 30, a chimney sweep from London; Nicola-Marie Bloor, 35 and an Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga tribute act from Derbyshire.
Carolynne had to impress Take That star Gary Barlow and guest mentor Cheryl Cole to make it to the live shows.
The song chosen was “When You Say Nothing At All” which were hit songs for three different performers: The late Keith Whitley, who took it to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart on December 24, 1988; Alison Krauss became her first solo top-10 country hit in 1995 and garnered her 1995 CMA award for "Single of the Year” along with Horizon and Female Artists wins; Ronan Keating, whose version was his first solo single and a chart-topper in the UK in 1999.
Released originally in June 16, 1988 it was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz.

The radio and TV interest picked up considerably previewing this years finalists and Carolynne did the necessary media rounds in the run-up to the live shows.
She hopes the show would help her refocus her life and told TV Biz:
“I miscarried after nine weeks during our second go with IVF and that is when me and David re-assessed our lives and we decided to split. I made a new plan and that is The X Factor.
“It hurt my pride to go back. “I felt like I had failed everything that year. I failed my IVF, Louis had given me the boot. I wanted to go back to bed and never get up.”
Carolynne, was a bit critical of Louis Walsh for dropping her last year. She said: “I wasn’t out there enough for him. But you play with fire when you dabble with these shows.” She said she was glad that Gary Barlow would be mentoring the over-25s - She said: “I was hoping I wouldn’t get Louis again.”

In her exclusive Talk Talk Interview the X Factor drop dead gorgeous finalist, with a figure to die for, said that this had not gone unnoticed, rather cheekily, by her army of “male fans”.
She explained, “Some people are quite cheeky on Twitter, some people call me a MIL# although I’m not a mum.” It’s like ‘Oh, she’s alright and older!’ I’m like, I’m not almost dead! “Just because I’m in the overs category doesn’t mean I’m on my way out.” In fact on her performance day at The X Factor bootcamp her niece Gracie-Jane was born!

Carolynne joined mentor Gary Barlow and Fellow “overs” contestants Christopher Maloney, Melanie Masson and Kye Sones in the ITV This Morning studio days before the first 2012 Saturday show.
She said she would like to fill a gap in the market for a British country music star.
“I’m from Yorkshire, I’m not from Texas. I don’t claim to be a cowgirl by any means,” said Poole.
“ButI do have an underlying theme of country.I’m hoping that I can show thatcountry music isn’t just line-dancing,
cowboy hats in the air... its good songs, story-telling music.”
Her mentor, Gary Barlow, added: “I’ve been a massive country fan for years... I think it’s going to be brilliant to have that twist in the show this year.”
And Barlow has warned he will take it personally if his rival X Factor judges criticise his acts once the live shows get under way!
"We've given them a bath, it worked a treat," joked Gary Barlow when he discussed his decision not to give his X Factor contestants the typical dramatic makeovers - featuring a lot of fake tan!
Carolynne added "I think there'll be a natural progression if we're lucky enough to carry on through the weeks. They'll probably just pile more and more makeup on." The 32-year-old explained: "Because we're older and a bit more mature, I think it would be a bit too much if they were to completely change us."

Carolynne proved more than capable she could do pop and country just as well as ballads. Looking absolutely stunning she burst onto stage, to launch her battle to become this year’s X Factor winner.
Her bravery paid off deciding to tackle one of the biggest hits of this summer, giving it her own “country-style twist”.
All four of the Judges/Mentors gave positive comments:
Nicole Scherzinger - "It was a very bold song choice singing Nicki Minaj, countrified, but I'm a sucker for country music so I think you did your thing on it, very good vocals, strong vocals"
Tulisa Contostavlos - "You look absolutely stunning tonight, the vocals are brilliant, and you owned the stage.
Louis Walsh - "Carolynne, I think you’re looking great. I know you've been waiting all your life for this. I think it’s about time we had a really good country singer on X Factor. I think you could be like the UK version of Shania Twain, I loved it and I want you to get a record deal"
Gary Barlow "Brilliant first performance. It could have been so easy for you tonight. You could have come out and done a country ballad, but you didn't, you took a risk, it definitely paid off well done"!
Afterwards Carolynne speaking to Dermot O’Leary said - "I was a bit nervous about doing the song. I didn't know if anyone would understand me doing country and then doing a rap. I wanted to make something my own and make country a bit more current and a little bit cooler, I suppose" (laughs)
Regarding Walsh’s comparisons to Shania Twain, it wasn’t a comparison that she hated. Poole said:
“It was fab! That’s not a bad thing is it. She sold 36 million albums so I’m not bothered about that at all.”
On what sort of performances she hopes to bring the series in the upcoming weeks, Caz added:“I am hoping to bring a bit of commercial country to X Factor and take some of the current stuff and out a country twist on it. I’d love to do Dixie Chicks

X Factor UK 2012 - The Live Sing Off!
On Sunday night Oct 7, 2012 Carolynne found herself in bottom two of the public vote along with contestant Rylan Clark and both were unfortunately forced to enter a sing-off stage. Rylan was first up to the stage, singing ‘One Night Only’ as his save me song. His mentor Nicole clapped and cheered along throughout the track, but Gary Barlow looked secretly content in the knowledge that Carolynne should easily beat the Essex hopeful.
Carolynne wearing a figure hugging black mini dress and dark smoky eye makeup opted for Faith Hill’s ‘There You’ll Be’ as a last ditch attempt to repair the damage and remain in the competition.

It was a competent and strong performance and she did it justice.
This was not the first time this song had been sung on X Factor. IrelandsMary Byrne, the Tesco checkout lady- turned-singer covered the song on X Factor live show 6 November 2010. Also back in 2008, 18-year old Amy Connolly's audition reduced judge Cheryl Cole to tears. The track was used as background music for the audition. The public reacted to the ITV exposure and the track edition reached #10 in the UK due to downloads alone.
Written by Diane Warren the song was originally released by Warner Bros and featured on the PEARL HARBOR soundtrack. The song was also featured on Faith Hill's Greatest Hits albums: THERE YOU'LL BE AND THE HITS
** One would hope that Carolynne has been added to Faith Hill’s Christmas List as “There You’ll Be” again receives an “X Factor Bounce” – Thanks to her sing-off performance it has been Top 5 on the UK iTunes Country Chart this week (Oct 14, 2012) **
In contrast Faith’s brand new single “American Heart” in its first retail week in America charted (Oct 10, 2012) at a lowly #63 place with over 6,000 copies sold.

Tulisa was writing down talking to Louis and was pointing at it saying “It’s either this person or THIS person” When pushed by Dermot O’Leary insisting: Who do you want to send home? On what appeared to be stage managed drama Louis then doing a U Turn quicker than a Coalition Government policy said: “No I want to send it to deadlock”!
This caused a huge reaction in the audience (boo’s) and the other judges sitting beside him.

The 32-year-old singer was gracious in defeat, but her mentor wasn't as he angrily looks at Louis. On the tension-fueled first elimination segment Gary Barlow stormed off when he heard the words and the audience patiently awaited the uproar!
Speaking backstage, Gary called the outcome an 'absolute joke', telling his act that 'two years running you've lost out to joke acts', a sentiment pointing to the fact that she narrowly missed getting to the live rounds last year when Louis Walsh was the house Judge.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor Tulisa Contostavlos admitted that Louis ‘panicked’ when he was put on the spot and some sources think they know why.
As Carolynne was singing her “save me song”, 30 seconds before the end of her performance, a “mystery” member of X Factor staff could be seen somewhat furtively move next to Louis, whispering in his ear and he looked away from the stage for the remainder of Poole’s performance turning away from the judges table (IMAGE)

So who was the mystery man?
Showbiz reporter Dan Wootton tweeted:
“Richard Holloway is the most powerful man on X Factor other than Simon Cowell. Hard not to think he was talking to Louis about the vote off.”
The Mirror’s deputy TV editor Mark Jefferies, who was in the audience this evening said: For anyone who missed it on screen, this is the moment during the sing off when Louis Walsh spoke to Richard Holloway’
Holloway is of course the man who was responsible for Cheryl Cole’s sacking from The X Factor USA last year and controls everything that goes on in the singing competition, along with his old pal Simon Cowell.
Many people have claimed that the show’s executive producer was telling Walsh to save Rylan, so that his dramatic antics and outbursts could go on to make headlines and help boost ratings for the series.
The X Factor's first live show of the series was 1.7 million viewers down on last year (9.2 million average audience compared to 10.9 million in 2011) while the BBC’s arch rival Strictly Come Dancing was more than a million up, overnight figures revealed. Although X Factor proved a bigger draw this was still an unwanted present for X Factor boss Simon Cowell who celebrated his 53rd birthday on Carolynne’s “exit Sunday”.
Responding to the allegations, an ITV spokesperson defended Louis’ decision and said:
“Carolynne had the least amount of public votes. Producers always chat to judges during the show.”
Holloway has since denied any claims the show was fixed. He said: "We don't tell the judges how to vote and, as you saw on the show, Louis hadn't - and couldn't - make up his mind.” On Sunday night I was telling Louis the order the judges would vote in and that he would be last."
The Ex-Factor / X Factor or Fix Factor?

The next morning after the shambles it came to light that more than 1,000 people had complained to media watchdog Ofcom, claiming the X Factor results show was fixed.
On Monday morning (Oct 8, 2012) Carolynne joined ITV's Daybreak on the sofa.
Presenters Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones along with TV critic, entertainment editor and now 2012 Strictly Come Dancing contestant Richard Arnold discussed the controversy following her X Factor exit
Carolynne said “I'm still gutted, I haven't had the chance to have a proper cry to be honest as your pushed from pillar to post" I am cross but it’s the nature of the beast”. As to Richard Holloway speaking to Louis Walsh during her performance she admitted - “I could see that, it was quite off putting to be honest”
Lorraine and Aled agreed "it was a shambles"
Aled Jones, the Welsh singer, TV and radio presenter who came to fame as a treble and later a lyric baritone singer, should know a thing or two. He said "What I don't understand Rylan lovely guy, absolutely lovely, he couldn't sing in that sing off, and you could, you sang amazingly well"..."We've had over 600 messages this morning most of them on your side".."We think your ace, good luck with the singing career its not ending here, no chance"
Carolynne told them “I'm going to get myself to America and do some more song writing.

Carolynne joins ITV’s This Morning
Hours later Caroline Flack, known for presenting I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and since 2011 the spin-off The Xtra Factormet with presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to discuss the previous night’s furore
Caroline admitted - "I have never felt an atmosphere like that before in the X Factor studio ever, it was very tense, I've lost my voice because of it" .At the end of the day it did come down to the public vote”
Carolynne then joined Phillip and Holly(photo) she even declared “I still have a soft spot for Louis” to which the reply was "I don't know how”
With Louis Walsh’s prolonged dithering on the Sunday night, time did not allow for Carolynne to enjoy her best moments of her 2012 X Factor Journey. ITV’s This Morning granted her this wish and tearing up Carolynne was passed a tissue. Awww. Asked what for her favourite moment, she answered “When Gary told me I was through, that was the best thing ever”
Sadly country fans who may not be avid X Factor viewers did not vote in the numbers to have avoided her contentious sing-off exit. We will never get to see that Dixie Chicks rendition that was promised down the X Factor country road.
She has however left some of the “C” Factor behind and it has rubbed off on Mr. Walsh’s group District3 who performed Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers’ country ballad written "I Swear" in Week 2. Initially a hit for John Michael Montgomery and then for American pop group All-4-One!
I hope the lovely Carolynne makes herself known to UK country radio DJ’s and media when she returns from MusicCity armed with a bunch of top songs. We are anxious to hear the “C” Factor!

The Huddersfield hopeful ignited the spat after Maria tweeted during Sunday night’s show that chimney sweep Kye once tried it on with her by sending her messages on Facebook.
Glamour model Maria wrote on Twitter: “Is this boy called Kye? I swear he used to message me on facebook about 6 years ago.”

Former Corrie star Lucy-Jo Hudson has leapt to the defence of best friend Carolynne Poole who was controversially kicked off The X Factor at the weekend. Lucy-Jo, who played "Killer Katy" Harris in Coronation Street and is recently better known for her part in recently axed ITV1 drama Wild At Heart has known Carolynne for 15 years. The 29-year-old told the Diary: “I am heartbroken. I have seen her go through this for many years and my heart was in my mouth” Lucy-Jo, who was in the audience to watch Carolynne giveNicki Minaj's hit Starships a country twist, said: “It is unfair because she is incredibly talented and she needed this chance to shine. “I felt sick watching it. I just wanted to give her a cuddle”
Adding “Hopefully Gary will continue to look after her now. In this country we don’t quite get country music like they do in America. “I spoke to her after the show and she is just devastated. But she is a fighter.”
Rylan, 23,who has previously tried to get on Big Brother visited a clairvoyant to find out if this was the show to make him a big star. A show source said: “Rylan now sees X Factor as his destiny”..ummm “The only thing she never told him was if he would win!
