Martina shared: "It is a Christmas album, it is called It's The Holiday Season, and...you know, I made a classic Christmas album about 20 years ago called White Christmas. And it's just been one of those records; when I made it, I wanted it to be the kind of record that really just stands the test of time. So we made it in the old fashioned kind of way with a big orchestra and it's very lush. And I wanted to do the same kind of thing, meaning that I wanted it to stand the test of time with this new album. But we did it in a little bit different way. So, we cut with a big band. An orchestra, but also horns, and a lot of it's kind of swing. It's kind of in the same...I would say it's in the same style as the old Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald Christmas records. It's really, really fun! It's infectious, like, it's just so much fun to listen to! It makes me want to take ballroom dancing lessons, to be honest, because I want to be able to dance to it.

Most recently, McBride has been on the road with her The Joy of Christmas Tour 2018, which just had a stellar sold-out three night run at Nashville’s own Schermerhorn Symphony over the weekend.

Each stop on the tour has incorporated the amazing talents of local orchestras as McBride delivers her jazzy take on everyone’s favorite holiday standards and her classic hits. 

McBride also treated viewers of the 92^nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to her rendition of “Most Wonderful Time of Year” atop the Balsam Hill float. She was also on hand at this year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lightingevent where she performed “Winter Wonderland” standing in front of the New York spectacle that draws thousands of visitors to the city from across the globe. 

Up next, fans can catch McBride on “ Live! with Kelly and Ryan” on Tuesday, December 11^th where she will be in the kitchen showing the hosts a few of her favorite recipes that are perfect for holiday entertaining. She will return to the show on Monday, December 24^th for their special Christmas show where she will perform.

August 13, 2018 (Nashville, TN) - Country music icon Martina McBride is not letting the Nashville summer heat ruin her Christmas spirt, and begins her gift giving with the release of It’s The Holiday Season.  

The 9-song holiday set will be released on October 19, the first with her new record label partner, BMG.  McBride also continues her “The Joy of Christmas Tour” tradition, this time adding songs from the new album and bringing to life the big band and orchestral sounds by using local symphonies on each stop.  In addition, she will be adding more spice into that mix, by releasing a second all-season cookbook, Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist For Real Life, available October 30^th.

For this album, McBride collaborated with the late Patrick “Pat” Williams who arranged a set of classic Christmas songs with accompaniment from more than 35 world-class musicians at the famed Capitol Studio in Los Angeles and Blackbird Studio in Nashville.  This release follows her 1998 multiplatinum WHITE CHRISTMAS.

"It's been exactly 20 years since I released White Christmas.  With that album I wanted to make it classic and something that would stand the test of time, which I feel like it has done. I wanted to accomplish the same thing with It's The Holiday Season, but with a different feel. So, I decided to make most of the album with a big-band swing vibe that takes you back to the Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald records. We recorded more of the pop Christmas numbers that lend themselves to that kind of feel rather than the focusing on the hymns like we did with White Christmas. I think they are great companion pieces and my hope is that they will both be enjoyed for years to come." says McBride.

This year also brings back McBride’s anticipated “The Joy of Christmas Tour”, this time each with a local orchestra. The limited holiday run includes three nights at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

"When I stood in the studio listening to that 38-piece band play, I knew I wanted to take it on the road.  I am so excited to bring this music to life on stage and bring some of the joy of the season to people. Performing with the symphonies will be such a grand and unique experience for me. I can't wait!" says McBride.

Before the holiday festivities begin, McBride’s sophomore cookbook Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life hits shelves.  Available October 30, the new collection includes nearly 300 pages of family recipes and new creations from her own kitchen. This follows her 2014 release Around The Table.

"When I find a delicious recipe I can't wait to share it, just like when I find a great song", says McBride.
