Helena Mace’s latest single ‘Runaround’ snags an iTunes top 10: Review & Interview

Bournemouth girl done good
#ukcountryradioawards #girllgoingsomewhere

Bournemouth based singer-songwriter Helena Mace has had another packed and eventful year with more exciting times to come.
Singing in the Bournemouth area for the past 12 years as always she plays frequent multi-genre (Instagram photo), cover songs and country shows in her locality and other shows across the South of England.
She was hand-picked by the top DJs of 24/7 Internet station UKCountryRadio.com (“playing The Hottest Music In The UK”) and played on their debut stage at this summer's Welshpool Country And Western Festival in June. She has also played the Quayside Music Festival in Weymouth and the Wimborne Folk Festival.

On March 15,  2019 she released her single “Save It for Another Day” which reached No.3 on the UK Country iTunes Album Chart (#256 UK iTunes all-genres peak) and stayed in the Top 200 for 2 days.

Singer-songwriter Helena Mace to release new single “Save It For Another Day”

The Boscombe Manor artiste was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour, after believing she had an ear infection, and feared she could lose her hearing in one of her ears and the local paper ran an article on the story. Two MRI scans in December last year determined she had acoustic neuroma which goes from the brain to the inner ear. “It’s so rare, only one in 100,000 people get diagnosed with them”, Helena said.
With the release of the Save it For Another Day she hoped it may inspire someone else who may have similar symptoms to go to the doctors by raising awareness of the condition.

HACKED OFF: In June much to her horror she found that her Facebook pages had been stolen and became victim of having her 2 Facebook accounts (both music profile & personal profile) hacked into and stolen by a person who was illegally selling products in Helena's name. Posing under someone else's account and fraudulently gaining money is an illegal activity.
Helena had built up (with the help of Country Music Social Media) a 4 - 5K Facebook following and she lost a 12-year-old personal Facebook history.
Despite numerous of Helena's fans reporting the theft Facebook did nothing apart from shutting down Helena's access to Facebook. The story made the main news on ITV Meridian and the issue was finally resolved.
July 5 Update: Richard Slee ITV news Bournemouth, interview was also aired on the ITV Meridian: Musician devastated by scam on Facebook

Helena was the most nominated artist for the 2019 UK Country Music Awards (which was presented by UKCountryRadio.com) in 4 categories: Album of the Year (CHASING DREAMS, released March 2018, received rave reviews), Female Artist of the year and Country Artist of the Year plus the Gary Perkins Angel award for her services to music and her hard work even whilst dealing with a benign brain tumour. She was invited to perform at the awards held at the Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport on Saturday 14th September.

UKCountryRadio.com’s 12th Birthday Party & UK Country Music Awards 2019 Review

On Oct 12, 2019 Helena excitedly announced she would be performing in HMV Bournemouth as part of National Album Day platform. Her CHASING DREAMS album is now on sale in the store sitting on the shelves beside the big names in country music.

Her music has featured a large amount on UK country radio shows across several countries and now UKCountryRadio.com are supporting her with website exposure and backing her new single Runaround was was produced in Bournemouth by Nineyards Music and written by Helena and the Nineyards team (Adrian Withers and Philip Snowden).
The track was part of a pre-order 8th November with a full general release 15th November 2019. This track is part of the new album which will have collaborations from Matt Black at Hangover Hill Studios and Nineyards Music.
Helena will be launching a new album in Spring 2020 as well as performing songs from her current album and will be appearing at events across the country to promote her music and hopes to perform in the US over the next 2 years!

“Runaround” SINGLE REVIEW

Release Date: 15 Nov 2019
Label: Nineyards music
Time: 3:52

Debut & iTunes Chart Run: #15 UK Country iTunes Singles Chart (selling 18% of the No1 single by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber), then #12, then #10 * peak *, then #16, then #19, then #23, then #25 | Sat Nov 16: #32, then #59

This jangly Americana-tinged mid temp single with its lightly rattling 60s Bryds-like guitars depicts a fatal attraction and the frustations of a good gal meets bad boy relationship. Those exasperations, excuses and lies are blown away by one loving kiss sending the female protagonists’ head & heart into a wild spin.

She first regrets falling hopelessly in love and believing all the stories but its hard to let go of that steamy affair.  With its sweetly aching chorus and sing-along hooks with repeat plays this number has growing appeal.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
Lyrically, the song centers on a lying partner that cast a spell and pulled her into a false pretense of a safe relationship and now continues to give the “runaround” instead of opening up and being truthful. It is a subject matter that will no doubt resonate with fans worldwide. Surely we’ve all been in that place at some point in our lives. Just wanting to know exactly where we stand rather than have somebody play games with your heart. Helena Mace is an incredible songwriter who effortlessly weaves a story throughout her tracks and with ‘Runaround’ she has perfectly brought this story to life and paints an almost cinematic vibe throughout the clever lyrics…..‘Runaround’ is a stunning piece of country crossover music that will delight fans new and old alike. It’s relatable and thought-provoking in equal measure and gives a real insight into the type of wonderful artist Helena Mace is. This has the potential to become a global smash. - Laura Klonowski  Belles & Gals Review

"Has a great new single out and doing extremely well with it" - Jim Duncan 101.8 WCR FM - the station with MORE for Wolverhampton

"A fine start with 'Runaround' a great track from Helena Mace" - Roger Peck CMR Nashville The British Country Music Show
ICYMI: Listen to Roger Peck’s interview conducted at the UK Country Music Awards and first broadcast on CMR Nashville on Nov 15, 2019:

LYRICS
Its 6 o clock in the morning and it's a brand new day.
The same old lines youre calling, why you cant come this way.
And every day I'm thinking, what's the point of this
Then you change my mind, with just one single kiss.

Chorus.
You keep on giving me the Runaround.
I'm  going around so fast, my feet dont touch the ground.
I wish that you'd slow down and give me a fighting chance.
Baby why do you keep giving me the Runaround,  the Runaround.

I wish I hadnt fallen in so fast.
I wish I hadn't listened to your lies about your past.
I miss that feeling I had when we first met.
But I know one slam of the door, I'd have so many regrets.

Chorus etc.

INTERVIEW
Always such a lovely artiste to deal with Helena kindly spoke to Country Routes News about her new single ‘Runaround’, her music and future plans

What inspired, what idea sparked the writing process and did it come quickly
I wrote the lyrics to Runaround fairly quickly as it was a very relatable subject for many people I know. I thought that a lot of listeners would be able to relate to the track.

The single has a different production feel to it than your previous singles. Was this a conscious decision?
Where was it recorded and who are the musicians playing on the single?
I am working with another production team on a few tracks on the album so the sound although slightly different , still keeps my style of music going.  I am working with both Nineyards music and Matt Black on the tracks for the album. The producers and musicians are Philip Snowden and Adrian Withers.

Is this an indication of the direction of travel for your next album?
Yes this is an indication of my new album sound, however you can expect to hear good old country tracks , a folk sound and a couple of  ballads on the new album out in spring 2020.

What do you hope listeners / fans can take from 'Runaround' and how they react to it?
I think most of us have been messed around in a relationship in the past so many will know the feeling of that type of up and down relationship.

Who did the cover art graphic for the single?
My husband did the cover art and graphics for the single.

What have you been most proud of during 2019 and what are you hopes for 2020?
I've been proud of having 3 charting singles and numerous award nominations in the past year . It's been a tough journey due to my brain tumour diagnosis so achieving all this is just amazing for me.

What do you consider the biggest challenges for a British Inde country act in the current music business?
I think the music industry is challenging full stop. You have to be thick skinned and determined and just keep doing what you love. It's also a great industry to be in.

Any message for your fans or anything you like to add to share with us?
I'd like to say a big thank you to all those who have played and bought my music and have.come to my gigs.  Theres a new track coming early next year so watch this space.

Lexanna comprise Lexi and Savanna Cummings and are a sister duo hailing from Tampa, FL both attending Lipscomb University in Nashville.

New single "Parachute" is produced and written by Bobby Terry who co-wrote (with M.A.Rossi) the recent Garth Brooks single "Stronger Than Me" (#42 Country Airplay chart peak) which he sang as a tribute to his wife Trisha Yearwood during the 2018 CMA  Awards show.

“Parachute” has been added to the New Music Nashville Spotify playlist

Listeners are immediately drawn in with its softly opening and depicts a place where love is blind, innocent, and strong and no safety net is required. The music ebbs and flows as chances are taken heading into the great unknown of love's journey first flying high but then reality kicks in and with a heavy heart the romance spirals out of control, goes into freefall and hits the ground. After opening her heart in hindsight, she should have prepared herself but lessons of young love are learnt. Living, loving but losing: But I should of used the parachute.

Throughout the mid-tempo track the lead and harmonies are delightful and musically the listener soaks in its dreamy feel, the power and beauty and intimate emotion but the soaring and crunchy guitars portray the tension and vocals radiate both crystal and smoke that finally anchors a sense of reality. The country-pop production is both slick, radio-ready and engaging.
A terrific introduction to Lexanna, free-fall into their music!

ABOUT Lexanna
Genre: Country, Ballad, Pop, Rock
Band Members: Lexi Cummings, Savanna Cummings
Home Town: Brandon, FL
Record Label: Independant
About: A sister duo who has a passion for singing and writing! Currently in Nashville, TN.

Their Story:
From early childhood, sisters Lexi & Savanna Cummings found passion first in singing/writing, then in harmonizing, then in playing instruments. Originally from Brandon, FL, both sisters are now studying music at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.  Rooted in their faith in God, the Lexanna brings a refreshing honesty to the way they examine the human condition and connect with the world around them through music.

On Sept 21, 2018 they self-released a upbeat jazzy bouncy fun single titled "Love, Love, Love" (Amazon | iTunes | Spotify) which points to a crazy relationship with its good and bad vibes!
Starting from a very romantic sweet standpoint the young lady is serenaded only then to be taken for granted. There are a million reasons to walkaway but in the end the couple will always kiss and makeup!

The tender ballad "Holdin My Breath" followed on Nov 16, 2018 (Amazon | iTunes | Spotify) about feeling alive falling into the ocean of love only to see it vanish like a mere breath of wind.
The questioning song touches on how a relationship that seemed so good from the get-go sadly ends. Those promises that will never come true are hard to erase but with a vain hope following regrets that it can be rekindled but between the lines the reality is it's over.

Yorkshire Country singer-songwriter Jade Helliwell drops new single “Stormchaser” (Review)

The track coincides with Jade’s C2C: Country to Country Festival performances on the Icon Stage at London’s O2 Arena.

Jade Helliwell "Stormchaser" (Single Review)

Release Date: 8 March 2019

Label: Jade Helliwell

Time: 2:56

Amazon UKUK iTunes - Spotify

Chart success:
Debut: #32 UK Country iTunes Singles Chart (#1181 UK iTunes all-genres)
Peak: #12 UK Country iTunes Singles Chart

Stormchaser is the follow up to her previous single “Drive” (Nov 2018). It was recorded at The Banger Hanger with musicians Rob Gulston (Holloway Road) and BCMA musician of the year Luke Thomas.

The fruits of a co-writing Nashville session it has a very contemporary edge, with dubstep leanings, finger snaps, vocal autotune sound effects whilst retaining country elements with banjo pickings.

Chasing recent trends, the modern production rather tips a nod to recent commercial recordings from Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini and Kacey Musgraves but the somewhat mudded mix doesn’t always allow the listener to hear the lyrics clearly.

With a measured dose of vocal aggression, this gritty number is inspired by the concept of being attracted to things you know are wrong.
As the thunder rolls in on this stormy affair, where the female character is sent spinning, fatally drawn into a bad boy relationship the beefy electric guitar solo heightens the tension and madness. It’s a trainwreck waiting to happen!

A juicy slab of modern country music, you decide?

Adrian Clark

Lyrics
You came crashin into me
Made it hard for me to see
That lighting headin south
Flashes rollin cross the ground
I knew you wouldn’t stay
And I knew these clouds would break
But I just cant escape my mistakes

Even though i try to avoid it
Still somehow i head straight for it

Chorus
I’m a storm chaser
Tryin to tame the rain
Caught up in disaster
Just waitin for the day
You’re gonna knock me down
Spin me around
Wreck me until your done
I’m a storm chaser
Yeah a storm is gonna come

I think I’ve figured it all out
I think i know what its about
Im attracted to your crazy
How you constantly frustrate me
When i hear that thunder roll
I just give you all control
I let you wreck me even though i know I’m wrong

When the sky turns black to blue
I know I’m gonna miss the madness of you

Repeat Chorus x 2

Mags McCarthy (Mags) rings in the season with original Holiday tune

MAGS MCCARTHY (MAGS)
RINGS IN THE SEASON WITH A MESSAGE OF HOPE AND CHEER
WITH HOLIDAY TUNE
I NEVER BELIEVED IN SANTA CLAUS (UNTIL YOU CAME TO TOWN)

Track Available on iTunes, Spotify and Most Digital Retail & Streaming Outlets

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov 2018) – Irish-born, country music recording artist and global entertainer Mags (Mags McCarthy) celebrated the “the reason for the season,” and shared her hope and cheer with her original holiday tune titled, “I Never Believed In Santa Claus (Until You Came To Town).

Co-written alongside Michael Anthony (and produced by Anthony/Emerald Field Productions), the track was distributed to country radio (Nov 8, 2018) and made available via all digital retail outlets (Apple Music/Spotify/Amazon - https://digital-delivery-services.lnk.to/MYycOPR)

Recorded in Nashville, the musical composition is in keeping with the traditional sounds of country holiday classics. Featuring Mags' performance on fiddle, the upbeat, two-step shuffle renews hope and recalls that love is the most precious and giving present of all.

The single was promoted across Europe on the Promotional Hotdisc (Dec #240) and debuted at #24 on the Hotdisc Top 40 (chart dated Dec 9, 2018) and climbed and peaked at #16 where it held for 2-weeks (chart dated Dec 23, 2018)

A fine upbeat, humorous original Christmas toe-tapper which bounces along real nice.
Looking out from a window on a cold wintry scene, pondering life, as children’s smiling faces take in the wonder of the season the surprise arrival of Santa lifts the spirits from a joyless existence from a once disbeliever to bring forth laughs, happiness and shake off sadness and those painful Christmas blues! As the holiday begins to fade away there is hope that the love for life will continue each and every day.

THE HOLIDAYS, THEY COME AND GO
NOW I LOVE THAT TIME OF YEAR
STILL HOPING I MIGHT CATCH A GLIMPSE
OF THE ONE WHO IS SO DEAR
YOUR GIFT WAS NOT SOMETHING
THAT WILL BREAK - OR FADE AWAY
IT'S THE KIND OF LOVE WE ALL SHOULD HAVE
EACH AND EVERY DAY

"I believe, the spirit of Christmas and the hope that the Season, and Santa, bring should be a sentiment that we share with one another all year long," Mags said. "This tune is a gentle reminder of the joyful heart that Santa represents, and the meaningful gestures of unwavering kindness and generosity that we should share as our daily gift to one another."

The release of the holiday tune continues Mags’ momentum at country radio. Mags released her debut single, Strong Enough,” which met with overwhelming welcome and applause from country music fans and ranked in the TOP 50 on the MusicRow Breakout Chart (November 2018). Mags began her musical arts pursuit as a four-year-old studying Irish dancing. Catering to an undeniable musical hunger, Mags expanded her curriculum to explore and learn a variety of dance styles as well as musical instruments with primary concentration in violin. Courted by the world-renowned Irish dance troupe, Rhythm Of The Dance, the UCC (University of College Cork) student became a global performer nearly overnight. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter and composer has since canvassed 40-plus countries, performing before millions as the principal lead of the dance troupe and a solo-touring artist.

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, Mags was scheduled to perform before a number of prominent country radio stations at the fall Music Row Live radio remote to be held at The Tracking Room in Nashville. In early December, her tour schedule took her to Pittsburgh where she will madee a special appearance to perform in the Christmas Wonderland Concert at Byham Theater, Pittsburgh, PA. on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The event benefitted the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Children’s Miracle Network and Arnold Palmer Hospitals.
