Morgan Wallen Becomes RIAA’s Highest Certified Country Artist of All Time

Morgan Wallen Becomes RIAA’s Highest Certified Country Artist of All Time

80 New + Updated Certifications;
With 265.5 Million Certified Singles and Albums, Wallen is the 3rd Most-Certified Artist, All-Genres

Five Singles Now Diamond Certified or Higher, Including “Last Night,” “Wasted On You,” “Whiskey Glasses,” “Chasin’ You” and Diplo Collaboration, “Heartless”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After recently becoming Billboard’s Top Artist of 2025 and entering Spotify’s coveted Billions Club with three singles – “Whiskey Glasses,” “I Had Some Help” with Post Malone and “Last Night – surpassing one billion streams on the platform, Morgan Wallen’s consumption success is now landing him a new accolade as RIAA’s highest certified Country artist of all time.

With 239.5 million certified singles (solo + collaborations) and 26 million albums, Wallen simultaneously becomes the third most-certified artist, all-genre (succeeding only Drake and Taylor Swift for solo titles); and the No. 2 digital singles-certified solo artist, all-genre. The recognition comes just seven years after receiving his first Gold certifications for “The Way I Talk” and “Up Down” in 2018, followed by “Whiskey Glasses” in 2019 – which is officially 13x Platinum certified today.

A Breakdown of the Milestones
With 80 new certifications awarded by the RIAA this month, Wallen now ranks:

  • ·         #1 Highest-Selling Country Artist of All Time
  • ·         #3 Highest-Selling Artist of All Time (All Genres)
  • ·         #2 Most Diamond Singles Ever (All Genres)

He’s also the first country artist to earn five separate Diamond singles, meaning each has sold more than 10 million units:

  • ·         “Whiskey Glasses” – 13x Platinum
  • ·         “Wasted On You” – 12x Platinum
  • ·         “Last Night” – 12x Platinum
  • ·         “Heartless” – 10x Platinum
  • ·         “Chasin’ You” – 10x Platinum

“Whiskey Glasses” is now the best-selling country song of all time.

What Counts as a “Unit”?

The RIAA defines a unit as:

·         1 paid digital download = 1 unit

·         150 on-demand audio or video streams = 1 unit

For albums:

·         1 full album sale (physical or digital) = 1 unit

·         10 digital track sales = 1 unit

·         1,500 streams from an album = 1 unit

"While streaming drives most sales today, Wallen’s fan base continues to support physical and digital albums at a scale rarely seen in the genre anymore"

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album

“Morgan Wallen’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. A trajectory powered through deep fan connection, multiple creative collaborations and partnerships with Big Loud and Republic Records. Less than a decade after earning his first Gold singles, he has officially become the highest RIAA certified Country artist with 265.5M units, including credits on five Diamond-certified or higher singles! The sheer volume of streams behind this achievement speaks to how actively audiences continue to show up and his sustained journey reshaping modern music. Congratulations on this new height as Morgan and his team set their sights on the next,” shares RIAA Chairman & CEO Mitch Glazier.

Wallen will play two nights in most locations, including stops at four major college football stadiums: Clemson’s Memorial Stadium, Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Michigan’s Michigan Stadium and one night only at Alabama’s Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

About Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen sets the pace in, and beyond, country music – with Billboard calling him “one of the biggest stars in the music world right now” and The New Yorker adding “[he’s] popular on a scale that seems to circumvent genre entirely.” With 20 No. 1 singles at Country radio, 19 Billboard Music Awards to-date, 216 weeks spent atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (the most in country music history), the highest selling country tour under his belt and more, Wallen has propelled country music to a global level in less than five years.

Wallen’s fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, available now via Big Loud / Mercury, debuted at No. 1 globally across seven countries; while his preceding albums – Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time – have remained in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart for more than 100 weeks each, making him the first artist ever to achieve that feat. I’m The Problem – which Hits Daily Double observes is “a 37-song cycle of self-reckoning” – has already yielded five No. 1’s at Country radio, including the title track, which remained at No. 1 for eight weeks. Wallen also broke his own record for the most simultaneous entries in Billboard Hot 100 History, with 37 songs charting on release week.

After recently concluding his 20-stadium-show 2025 I’m the Problem Tour in September, Wallen is readying his 23-stadium show Still The Problem Tour for 2026. Kicking off April 10 with two consecutive nights at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the run will include stops at four major college football stadiums: Clemson’s Memorial Stadium, Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Michigan’s Michigan Stadium and one night only at Alabama’s Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

She has recorded 29 #1 singles (14 of which she co-wrote), and has eight albums that are certified Multi-Platinum or Platinum by the RIAA.  All 10 of her albums (including nine studio albums and her 2014 Greatest Hits: Decade #1) – three of which she co-produced – have debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart for all genres, beginning with her 9x Platinum debut album, Some Hearts, which was released in 2005.

I wonder if it is hard pure sales or stream units taken into account?

105 Million Kenny Chesney Fans Can't Be Wrong

105 Million Certifications Can’t Be Wrong --

KENNY CHESNEY’S 22 NEW CERTIFICATIONS
Contribute to 7 Multi-Platinum Albums + 16 Multi-Platinum Singles
51 Songs Across Career Achieve Heavy Metal Status, All BUT His Debut Album, Too

Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) | Photo Credit: Jill Trunnell

Las Vegas, Nev. – When you’re busy moving forward, it’s easy to forget keeping score. Kenny Chesney, the Country Music Hall of Fame electee who just wrapped a full-immersion residency at Vegas’ Sphere, built a career on the quality of the songs and how they resonate with No Shoes Nation as he continually sought to find songs that were better than what he’d already done.

As Billboard’s No. 1 Country Artist of the 21st Century and the artist with the most No.1 Country Airplay singles, Chesney’s songs and albums have been the soundtrack for coming of age across the nation. In the pre-streaming era, when a Platinum-certification meant a million copies sold and people making the decision to put their down their money, he had several multi-Platinum projects – and he could feel the passion when fans sang “Get Along,” “American Kids” or “Young” at shows for the last many summers.

Nothing, though, could have prepared the songwriter/superstar from East Tennessee for the award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) marking over 105 million units certified in the U.S. alone. He said, “These kinds of numbers almost don’t exist. Who counts that high? But seeing all the discs and the size of the plaque, it hits you how big this really is.

“What I know is what I hear when the band and I are on stage. You can tell when you hear people cheering and singing these songs with every bit of joy they’ve got, this isn’t just a song they like, these songs are something that hits them in the heart. To me, even more than Platinum or Gold, it’s the sound of those voices that tells me how much this music means.”

With No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems; When The Sun Goes Down and Greatest Hits all certified 5x Platinum, The Road and The Radio achieving 4x Platinum status and Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates, Hemingway’s Whiskey and Everywhere We Go all 2x Platinum, there are also nine additional Platinum and six Gold albums in Chesney’s catalogue.

With today’s update, “American Kids” and “You and Tequila” featuring Grace Potter earn 5x and 4x Platinum status respectively. Five songs – “Summertime,” “When The Sun Goes Down” featuring Uncle Kracker, “Come Over,” “Don’t Blink,” “Get Along” – receive 3x Platinum certification, joining previous 3x Platinum “Somewhere With You.” “I Go Back,” “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” “All The Pretty Girls,” “The Good Stuff” and “The Boys of Fall” join previous 2x Platinums “There Goes My Life,” “Setting The World on Fire” featuring P!nk and “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” not to mention five new Platinum certifications and three new Gold certifications contributing to his overall total of 51 RIAA-certified singles.

“I know what music meant to me, the way a song can change your moment, give you clarity or just make you feel seen,” says the man who’s in the midst of final edits on Heart Life Music, the story of his journey as a creative soul seeking kindred spirits. “Because some of these songs are fun, that doesn’t mean it can’t matter or doesn’t say something people connect with. And with ballads, I’ve tried to make them speak to a moment that’s so real you can see it.

“Buddy (Cannon) and I have really tried to push what we were doing in terms of the songs and how we recorded them; I wanted to say the stuff people never said for kids like me – and find the sweet spot where melody and lyric reflect each other in a way that made each song even more than any one moment. I wanted songs that I hoped would always be true.”

Tapping moments and emotions at their most potent, Chesney fashioned a series of albums that went through the phases of life without ever relinquishing those moments of being young many people carry throughout their lives. Those songs fuel legendary two-hour performances that deliver an antidote to the animosity of the world, create a nation without polarization and space to come together for the love of what being alive can mean. More than 105 million in certifications can’t be wrong.

Billboard Top 200 / Country Album Chart News (Chart issue week of October 12, 2019)

The Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

DaBaby scores his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as Kirk opens in the top slot.
The set, which is the hip-hop artist’s second studio effort, starts with 145,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 3, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, just 8,000 were in album sales, as the set was powered largely by streaming activity. It logged 2,000 in TEA units and 136,000 in SEA units. The latter sum equates to 181.7 million on-demand audio streams for the set’s 13 songs during its first week -- the fifth-largest debut streaming week for an album in 2019.
Kirk was released on Sept. 27 via SouthCoast/Interscope Records.
Kirk, which is DaBaby’s actual last name (real name: Jonathan Kirk), followed his first studio release, Baby on Baby, which peaked at No. 7 on the June 1-dated list.
Through the week ending Oct. 2, Baby on Baby has earned 719,000 equivalent album units, and collected over 1 billion on-demand audio streams for its songs.

Country-rock band Whiskey Myers captured its first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 as the group’s self-titled effort started at No. 6 with 42,000 equivalent album units earned (of which 39,000 were in album sales). Sales of the new album were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with the band’s tour in 2019.
The debut of the new album follows the Texas act’s first big national attention back in 2018, when it was seen performing the song “Stone” in an episode of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner. During the release week of the new album, Whiskey Myers landed its first live performance on national television, performing “Rolling Stone” on NBC’s Today on Oct. 1.
Whiskey Myers also scored its first chart hit on a Billboard airplay chart recently, as the new album’s “Gasoline” premiered at No. 37 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart dated Oct. 5.

Billboard Top Country Albums (Chart issue week of October 12, 2019)
Top Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA) “sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to billboard biz ), exclusively comprising Nielsen’s sales data.

Critical reception for Jon Pardi’s Heartache Medication:
10 Tracks/ Time: 41:08 Indie & Alternative > Alternative Rock Amazon UK - iTunes - Amazon.com

Entertainment-Focus (Rating: 3.5/5) Heartache Medication isn’t as instant as California Sunrise was and for me it’s not as strong a record. That being said, there are plenty of
strong songs here and I’m glad Pardi is operating in his own lane.
THE GOOD: Pardi continues to explore a traditional Country music sound, The arrangements on the album are impressive,
Some really strong tracks
THE BAD: The album is a couple of tracks too long

Sounds Like Nashville (Rating: Positive) Heartache Medication marks progression for Pardi, as he takes the beloved elements of traditional country music that enamored fans on California Sunrise and uniting them with richer emotions that show how positivity can stem from sadness, sending the listener off with a sense of peace.
