Jess and the Bandits drop powerful new single 'World Still Round'

Artist: Jess and the Bandits
Release: ‘World Still Round’

Following up their hugely successful single ‘White Lies’, which was recently added to the ‘Very Nearly Nashville’ playlist on Spotify, Jess and the Bandits are continuing the momentum with the release of their new single ‘World Still Round’.

Written and originally recorded by Logan Brill, ‘World Still Round’ is one of Jess’ personal favourites from the group’s #10 (UK Official Country Artists Albums Chart Top 20) charting album SMOKE AND MIRRORS:

“One of our favourites on the album is World Still Round. This song was introduced to us by some people in our team and as soon as we heard it we knew we had to record it. We weren’t 100% positive it would go on the album simply because the original version by the writer, Logan Brill, is so fantastic but we gave it our own spin and hope we did it justice and that people enjoy it just as much!”

The fiery five-piece were recently invited by Bob Harris (OBE) to perform at The Warehouse in Harrogate at his ‘Under The Apple Tree’ event, where they recorded a live session, including a performance of the new single, watch the video, published on May 8, 2018 here:

To celebrate the release, Jess is going to be running a house gig competition every month until September for fans all over the UK. Keep an eye on the social media pages for updates!

About Jess and the Bandits:

Frontwoman Jessica Clemmons, the singer-songwriter from Houston, Texas with the big voice and the warm personality, bonded with the four Brits who make up the Bandits over their mutual love of the music. They’ve turned that shared affection into some of the most accessible country-pop-rock of the last few years.

The last couple of years have been a whirlwind of successes, with playlist support from BBC Radio Two for a number of their singles, and a wealth of press and TV exposure. Their performance of ‘Wichita Lineman’ on the late Sir Terry Wogan’s Sunday morning show sent social media in to a frenzy, with fans demanding the cover appear on their debut album. It did… and matched with twelve equally impressive originals, the album soared to number 3 in the UK Country Chart.

In the wake of such success, and on returning to the US, Jessica headed back to Nashville to write and record more music. There she collaborated with some of Nashville’s most in demand song-writers and producers, and forged what she believed would be the band’s strongest record yet. However, in the lead up to the album’s release in September 2017 Jessica’s home town of Houston was hit by Hurricane Harvey, and her family’s home was badly damaged. Distraught and a long way from home, Jessica postponed her album launch and 14 date UK tour, and headed back to Texas to help rebuild. Though it was a difficult few months, 2017 ended on a high note for the fiery Texan, when she wed her true love, after a whirlwind romance, in a beautifully intimate ceremony near her family home. Her sophomore album, SMOKE & MIRRORS also debuted at #3 in the UK Country Music Chart, whilst single Sister, with its anthemic battle-cry was added to the BBC Radio 2 Playlist.

Heading back to the UK, Jess and the Bandits released single White Lies and rescheduled their headlining tour for February 2018, selling out venues across the UK and ending with a special Under The Apple Tree show, hosted by Bob Harris.

With lead vocalist Jess the happiest she has ever been, the writing process for upcoming album Smoke & Mirrors saw her in a very different frame of mind to those for the band’s debut. Having been swept off her feet by her Prince Charming, photographer Chris Peavey, Jess is radiating happiness following her engagement earlier this year.

Dancetastic and Thought Provoking Modern Country Music: The ever smiling Texan, Jessica Clemmons sounds breathless on opening track the almost evangelical I’m Still Not Going Home, which could be the band’s signature tune as she throws down a marker to the rest of the young upstarts on the circuit at the moment; especially the current wave of Brit-Country bands.
Oh Dear Lord, the title track which comes in at #2 is as close to a Classic Country belter as anything I’ve heard in donkey’s years, with Jess using her magnificent voice to full effect as a choir gives it everything behind her

Of Smoke & Mirrors, Jess says; “I am so excited about this album. I wanted to make sure that the sound grew and developed, Experimenting a little even. Gospel music is so close to my heart that I knew I needed to bring those elements into this new record. Smoke & Mirrors is a labour of love. A collection of songs that will take the listener on a journey.”
Having already teased fans with the instant grat. Kings of Summer, the band are excited to reveal the gospel drive of Sister, which is a euphoric rallying call to women all around the world.  Although it still has the rock bite of the band’s earlier releases, Jess explains, “This sound is very different from what many people are used to hearing from JATB. We wanted to go head first into a gospel feel. Something that has been part of country music for years and years but not really a part of U.K. country music. We took the story telling aspect of country music, threw a little pop in there for good measure and then took the listener to church with an incredible gospel choir.”

“Sister was written one evening in Nashville with the producer of the album, Femke Weidema. Oddly we both went into the session with the same ideas for a song and the sound. I knew I wanted to write a song empowering women but not in the ways I have done it before. After brainstorming, Sister began to take shape. I remember leaving the session feeling like we just wrote something extremely special. I still feel that way.”

Jess and The Bandits proved with their critically acclaimed debut album, HERE WE GO AGAIN (released April 1, 2016; Label: After Midnight Girl Entertainment 17 tracks | Total Time: 55:36 | Amazon UK | UK iTunes | Amazon.com) , that they were a musical force to be reckoned with. Boasting a rock country sound delivered with raw and real grit and an infectious pop punch, the band have enjoyed the loyal support of BBC Radio and TV.

With her personal and professional life going from strength to strength, Jess impressively battles with the serious hormone condition, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS can lead to weight gain, excessive body hair, acne and reproductive problems as your ovaries become prone to cysts. With the condition often undetected, 1 in 5 women, including Victoria Beckham and Jools Oliver, suffer without the realisation that they have the condition. Despite battling PCOS for many years, the feisty songstress has always been a strong believer in loving who you are, which lead to her following in the footsteps of Chaka Khan and Beth Ditto to become the first country star to be brand ambassador for a UK high street fashion store, when she teamed up with Evans.
Jess & The Bandits have a busy summer of festivals ahead, and will also be heading out on a headline tour in September to coincide with the release of Smoke & Mirrors, which boasts the rock country edge of their debut while channelling a raw, real Gospel attitude.

Of Smoke & Mirrors, Jess says; “I am so excited about this album. I wanted to make sure that the sound grew and developed, Experimenting a little even. After overcoming many changes throughout her life, from bullying to illness, Jess continues to the ray of light that her fans got to know and love of Here We Go Again, and don’t worry as you will find out her name still is trouble…

Due to the damage Harvey has done to Jess' family home in Houston, the band have had to reschedule their upcoming tour.

Boasting a rock country sound delivered with raw and real grit and an infectious pop punch, the band have enjoyed the loyal support of BBC Radio and TV, while striking vocalist Jess became the first ever country artist to be announced as an ambassador of a British high street fashion store.

While they last toured the UK at the end of a riotous festival season in 2016, the quintet finally return with Smoke and Mirrors - the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s #6 Official Country Chart charting Here We Go Again.

With Jess now at a new stage in her life, having recently announced her engagement after a whirlwind romance with Chris Peavey. Jess has been focusing heavily on her music, joining forces with songwriters both in Nashville and the UK in preparation for her next project. Although fans may have to wait until September 15 to get their hands of the full fourteen tracks, the wait is finally over for the band’s first new material since the 2016 deluxe edition of the band’s debut.

The addictive sing-along Kings of Summer is the first of a series of instant grats that tease the album’s arrival over the coming months. Centred on Jess’ distinctive vocal and her bandits’ flawless harmonies, Kings of Summer has all the signature elements of the sound that earned them their place as one of British country’s most heavily awarded acts, while offering hints of the band’s new material. This is the summer anthem you have been waiting for.
