Kenny Rogers - The Dealin's Done

Kenny Rogers has been working through a series of health challenges.
His doctors fully expect the outcome to be great, but they have advised him to cancel all performances through the end of the year to focus on recuperation.

Consequently, the Kenny Rogers performance on Saturday 25 August 2018 at Livewire Festival in Blackpool is being cancelled.
"I didn't want to take forever to retire," Rogers said.  "I've thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on 'The Gambler's Last Deal' tour.  I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they've given me throughout my career and the happiness I've experienced as a result of that."

About Kenny Rogers
Kenny Rogers began recording in the late 1950s, notching a local hit in the Houston, TX market with “That Crazy Feeling” that resulted in a national TV appearance on “American Bandstand.” After stints with the jazz group the Bobby Doyle Three and folk favorite The New Christy Minstrels, Rogers formed The First Edition in 1967. As the lead singer of the group, Rogers sang on the band’s biggest hits, such as “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” and “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town.” The group, who hosted their own syndicated television series, “Rollin’”, stayed together through 1975.

In 1976, Rogers signed a deal in Nashville with United Artists. With the help of producer Larry Butler, Rogers released “Lucille” in early 1977, his first No. 1 hit. The singer would tally many classics through the decade, including “Love Or Something Like It,” “Sweet Music Man,” “The Gambler,” and “Every Time Two Fools Collide,” which he recorded with the late Dottie West. Rogers was named Male Vocalist of the Year by both the CMA and the ACM, being also recognized as Entertainer of the Year by the latter in 1979.

In 1980, Rogers made musical history with his cross-over success of “Lady.” The Lionel Richie composition netted the singer a hit in the Country, Pop, AC, and R&B fields. The album from which the song was pulled, Kenny Rogers’Greatest Hits, was certified Diamond for sales of over ten million units. In the 1980s, he stayed on top of the charts with hits like “I Don’t Need You,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” and “Morning Desire,” and sang on the GRAMMY® winning USA For Africa charity single, “We Are The World,” joined by an unprecedented number of music legends. He also established a successful career as an actor – with roles in The Gambler movie series – and as a photographer, with several published books of photos to his credit, including “This Is My Country.”

Rogers has sold over 120 million albums worldwide during his career, making him one of the best-selling male artists of all-time according to the RIAA, with twenty Platinum albums and eleven Gold. He has won awards from every organization imaginable, including multiple GRAMMY® Awards, as well as CMA, ACM, CMT, TNN, Music City News, and American Music Awards. In 2012, Rogers released his successful memoir, “Luck or Something Like It” and became a New York Times Best-Selling Author. In the fall of 2013, Rogers was bestowed with his biggest honor, being inducted as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. He continues to endear himself to audiences through his timeless music, and appearances on television – including a well-received Geico commercial in 2015.

In the fall of 2015, Kenny Rogers made headlines with the announcement that he would soon embark on a farewell tour – after one of the most successful and iconic careers in the history of show business. The spring of 2016 saw the singer begin that process with his “The Gambler’s Last Deal” Final World Tour, saying goodbye to his loyal legion of fans one city and one night at a time in what has been a critically-acclaimed night of music and memories.

Kenny Rogers Drops Christmas Album & announces retirement from Touring

His Upcoming World Tour Will Be His Last
He's released his 9th holiday album Once Again It's Christmas.

NEW YORK, NY (September 25, 2015) – For the past 57 years, as sure as the sun would come up in the morning and set in the evening, there was one thing you could count on — Kenny Rogers would soon be coming to a venue near you to perform.
However, that time is now drawing to a close. Kenny Rogers announced on NBC’s The Today Show that his next world tour commencing in 2016 will be his last.
Two years ago, Kenny Rogers announced that his then current tour of Europe would most likely be his last overseas trek. He said at the time 'There is a fine line between being driven and being selfish ' I have crossed that line a few times ' and I don't want to do that to my boys.'

Those twin boys are now eleven and Rogers is 77 and, according to the NBC interview, he's ready to hang up his touring shoes for good.
Before he's done, though, he plans on doing one more world tour in 2016 although dates won't be announced until a later date. Rogers said 'It's happily sad or sadly happy. I'm going to do a big worldwide tour, and it's going to be my last. I'm going to say goodbye at that point; I've done this long enough.'

Singer Kenny Rogers is coming out with a remarkable 76th album, a collection of Christmas songs. He told TODAY's Carson Daly and Savannah Guthrie about it, and revealed that he plans to go into retirement with a bang: a worldwide farewell tour whose final stop will be TODAY! Watch the video here:

Today also marks the release his first new Christmas album in seventeen years titled: ONCE AGAIN IT’S CHRISTMAS (Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville). The festive set is Rogers’ first Christmas release since 1998 and his sixth Christmas release overall.
For more information: http://kennyrogers.rtouring.com/

The festive set will be Rogers’ first Christmas release since 1998’s CHRISTMAS FROM THE HEART and his sixth Christmas release overall. Several special guest stars join Rogers on Once Again It’s Christmas, including Alison Krauss (“Some Children See Him”), Jennifer Nettles (“Here It Is Christmas/Baby, It’s Cold Outside”), Home Free (collaborates with Rogers on “Children, Go Where I Send Thee”), Jim Brickman (guests on “That Silent Night”), and Winfield’s Locket (sings with Rogers on “There’s A New Kid In Town”).

Rogers also co-wrote a powerful song called “The Light” with long-time bandmate Steve Glassmeyer and former bandmate, Warren Hartman. The song concludes the album. The new project was produced by Kyle Lehning and Hartman, who were joined by Darren Rust as co-producer for the song, “Children, Go Where I Send Thee.” Steve Sundholm and Jim Brickman produced “That Silent Night.”
The Once Again It’s Christmas album cover art, is a photo taken by Rogers that he entitled “Red Tree.” He captured the wintry scene while shooting in Yakima, Washington, in December 2003.
Rogers received an Honorary Masters of Photography Degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in 2014 for his contributions to the world of photography.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s a very important season for me, especially now that I have twin boys who just turned 11 years old. It’s reminded me of how you see it through different eyes when you’re a parent. It’s wonderful,” Rogers said.
