NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 22, 2019) – Yesterday at an invite-only reception at The Listening Room Café, Song Suffragettes announced that The LSSW Group at J.P. Morgan Securities would be the first-ever presenting sponsor for the all-female, singer-songwriter collective. Based in New York City, the four women partners of The LSSW Group serve the wealth management and investment needs of the entertainment industry.

Says Eden Lopez, partner in The LSSW Group, “during a recent business trip to Nashville, we attended a Song Suffragettes show and were blown away both by the talent on the stage and by the mission of Song Suffragettes. As a female-led team, we immediately knew we wanted to support and help expand the Song Suffragettes’ objective to ‘let the girls play’.”

“Song Suffragettes hit the five-year mark this year and given the continued success of the show, we’ve been looking for sponsors to assist as we grow our all-female performance brand,” says Todd Cassetty, founder of Song Suffragettes. “After meeting Eden Lopez, Leslie Schwartz, Paula Steinberg and Liz Weikes, working with The LSSW Group made perfect sense. This relationship will help us evolve new female-centric initiatives, and it is the glowing definition of women supporting women.”

Attended by long-time Music Row stalwarts, the reception treated guests to cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and introduced them to many of the Song Suffragettes’ performers in attendance while remarks were made by both Eden Lopez and Todd Cassetty. Immediately following the reception, guests were treated to a sold-out Song Suffragettes show by recurring performers Kalie Shorr, Candi Carpenter, Kasey Tyndall and by first-timers Ashley Elle and British-resident Kaity Rae.

The evening capped off one of the biggest years of the critically-acclaimed collective. Last year, they released the original song and music video for “Time’s Up”, a musical nod to the female empowerment movement. The song went on to receive major media coverage, critical accolades and ultimately raised $10,000 for the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund through single sales and streaming.

After the song and video were released, the intense media coverage including the
Associated Press, USA Today, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Voice of America, U.S. News & World Report, Billboard, Rolling Stone, CMT.com, TasteOfCountry.com, SoundsLikeNashville.com and Grammy.com. Most recently, the song was one of sixteen songs featured on TuneIn’s Country Roads “Fab Females of 2018” radio special. TheShotgunSeat.com named the song one of the Top 20 Singles of 2018 calling it “arguably the most important song released in 2018.”

Song Suffragettes remains at the forefront of the disparity and discrimination debate surrounding females in the country music genre.
ELLE Magazine prominently featured Song Suffragettes in their November 2018 issue with a story titled “The Women of Nashville's Music Scene Are Calling Time’s Up.” In December, National Public Radio (NPR) touted Song Suffragettes nationally in a Morning Edition piece called “Female Country Music Singers In Nashville Navigate Gender Bias To Be Heard.”

Time's Up: Nashville's All-Female Song Suffragettes speak up against Gender Inequality and Sexual Misconduct with new Project

TIME’S UP: NASHVILLE’S ALL-FEMALE SONG SUFFRAGETTES SPEAK UP AGAINST GENDER INEQUALITY AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH NEW PROJECT

Music Video and Song Penned by CMT Next Women of Country Member Kalie Shorr
and Lacy Green Features 23 Up-and-Coming Singer-Songwriters

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 19, 2018) -- Nashville’s all-female singer-songwriter collective, Song Suffragettes, pointedly address gender inequality and sexual misconduct against women with a new song aptly-titled “Time’s Up” and an accompanying music video. The project and the women involved give a direct and unapologetic voice to the injustice and mistreatment of women everywhere, both inside and outside the entertainment business.

The song and music video have already been embraced by iTunes and Apple Music, who added the song into their top playlist: A-List Country. Radio Disney Country will premiere the song today and feature it on the Radio Disney Country Spotlight show airing on Radio Disney. The music video (23.7K views) arrived (Jan 18) on VEVO and you can watch it here:

Release Date: 19 Jan. 2018

Label: Song Suffragettes

Total Length: 3:03

Song: Time's Up (feat. Kalie Shorr, Candi Carpenter, Tiera, Emma White, Tenille Arts, Chloe Gilligan, Tasji Bachman & Savannah Keyes)

"Me and the girls were watching the Golden Globes, drinking wine and wearing all black. During one of the many inspiring speeches that night, I just felt the weight of what was happening -- how I was going to tell my daughters and granddaughters about this one day,” said Kalie Shorr, a co-writer on the song and CMT Next Women of Country member whose song “Fight Like A Girl” made waves in 2016 for its female empowering message, “It came together so easily and  flawlessly because the amazing girls of Song Suffragettes were so passionate about the cause and willing to move around their schedules to make it happen. The team behind Song Suffragettes hustled so hard to make this project come to life making our idea a reality. I have been so inspired by this whole reckoning that’s been happening and it just felt so obvious to connect that to what we do at Song Suffragettes.”
The women of Song Suffragettes are using their unique platform to add their voices to the current conversation on gender inequality and sexual harassment prevalent throughout America and on a local level within the country music industry. Earlier this week, Rolling Stone Country released an article discussing the history of sexual misconduct and harassment in country music radio: “They reveal an environment where artists and other music professionals – especially women – are expected to be overly accessible and use sexuality as currency when visiting stations and meeting with certain program directors, or attending industry events, in the hope of having their song added into rotation.” - Marissa R. Moss, Rolling Stone Country

The proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit Time’s Up, an organization that created a unified call from women in entertainment to end discrimination, harassment and abuse of women everywhere.
