LAS VEGAS, NV (April 15, 2018) – Winners were announced for the 53rd Academy Of Country Music Awards™, which aired LIVE on Sunday evening April 15, 2018 on the CBS Television Network from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. 
Reba McEntire as host, and Carrie Underwood's show-stopping performance of "Cry Pretty," helped propel "53RD ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS" telecast on CBS-TV to a prime-time win, attracting more than 12 million viewers while earning a 2.1 rating/7 share among coveted 18-49 TV watchers, according to ZAP2IT.  
The figure for total viewers was an increase from the 2017 ACMs, which pulled in 10.91 million. The 18-49 2.1 share matched last year's ACM Awards show result for that demo. This year's ACMs bested the highly anticipated James Comey interview on ABC-TV, which drew 9.78 million viewers, earning a 1.7 rating.


Spike TV: The 53rd ACM Awards had a noticeable effect on country music sales, according to Nielsen Music. ACM-nominated songs saw 431% surge in sales, with a spike of more than 45,000 overall units on Sunday (4/15). Leading the pack was Kane Brown's "What Ifs" ft. Lauren Alaina, which saw a sales increase of 813% (12,800 units). Other tracks enjoying increases included Carrie Underwood's "Cry Pretty" (+124%), Chris Stapleton's "Broken Halos" (+328%), Miranda Lambert's "Tin Man" (+1,941%) and Keith Urban's "The Fighter" ft. Underwood (+696%).

Hosted by multimedia superstar, Reba McEntire, the ACM Awards named Jason Aldean as Entertainer of the Year, the evening’s biggest honor.
This is the third consecutive win for Aldean in this category and his 13th overall ACM Award win.
Aldean's previous wins include: Forever Country Video of the Year - Artist (2016), Triple Crown (2015), Male Vocalist of the Year (2014/2013/2012), Crystal Milestone Award (2012), "The Only Way I Know" (2012; Vocal Event of the Year - Artist),
"Don't You Wanna Stay" (2011; Single Record of the Year - Artist) "Don't You Wanna Stay" (2011; Vocal Event of the Year - Artist) & Top New Male Vocalist (2005)

Miranda Lambert won ACM Female Vocalist of the Year for the ninth consecutive year and is the current record holder for most consecutive wins in this category. Lambert also won ACM Song of the Year for “Tin Man” along with co-writers Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, receiving two awards, both as artist and songwriter. With these wins, she now has 32 ACM Awards, and is the most-awarded artist in ACM Awards history, a record previously held by Brooks & Dunn.
Miranda won Song of the Year for "Tin Man," a plaintive acoustic heartbreak ballad that served as the third single from her award-winning and critically acclaimed album THE WEIGHT OF THESE WINGS. It's her 30th ACM awards win (32 trophies)."Thank you guys so much for sharing my broken heart with me," she said before turning the microphone over to her co-writers, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram.
"I'm honored to be up here with two of my favorite people in the whole world," Randall said.

Miranda Lambert is convinced country music is on the verge of a girl power revolution, despite the fact that all the Entertainer of the Year nominees at the ACM Awards on Sunday (15Apr18) were men.
The Mama's Broken Heart singer now she believes women could take over the country awards shows for the remainder of the year and beyond. Like many country fans, Miranda admited she was surprised when she learned there would be no woman fighting for the ACMs' top prize, which was won by Jason Aldean, stating, "Carrie’s (Underwood) kicking a**, and I’m trying to kick a** as much as I can on the road, so I don’t understand what’s going on with that, but I know that there’s gonna be a change.
"I know that if we just keep ploughing ahead it will get recognised and have its moment for sure."


 Chris Stapleton won ACM Male Vocalist of the Year, his second win in this category. Stapleton also won an additional two awards as both artist and producer in the ACM Album of the Year category for From A Room: Volume 1. He now has 9 trophies as both an artist and producer
Chris Stapleton, Wife Morgane Welcome Twin Boys
Congratulations to MERCURY NASHVILLE's Chris Stapleton and his wife Morgane, who welcomed twin boys (April 15). The twins arrived on Stapleton's 40th birthday, on the same night as he earned three ACM AWARDS!
The "STAPLETWINS" mark babies number three and four for the couple, who were understandably unable to attend last night's awards ceremony.

Sam Hunt was miles away when his named was called as the ACM Single Record of the Year winner on Sunday night in Las Vegas. It was the "Body Like a Back Road" singer's first ACM Award win, and when Dustin Lynch and Nancy O'Dell announced the honor, they both looked confused and flustered as nobody approached the stage. However Sam had a good reason for his absence posting on Instagram: Thank you Academy Of Country Music for the award for Single of the Year. Brothers Osborne won ACM Vocal Duo of the Year for the second consecutive year. The duo also won ACM Video of the Year for “It Ain’t My Fault,” along with directors Wes Edwards and Ryan Silver and producer Tiffany Davies. ACM CEO Pete Fisher surprised the duo with these awards, presenting them during CMT’s Facebook Live coverage of the ACM Awards red carpet. This is their 4th ACM win.
Lauren Alaina, Midland and Brett Young were also previously announced winners for ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year, ACM New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year and ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year, respectively.
The winners received a surprise phone call from host Reba McEntire last month notifying them of the news and were also surprised with the actual ACM Award in the days leading up to the show. Jon Pardi presented Alaina with her ACM Award during rehearsals, Midland received their ACM Award at the ACM Stories, Songs & Stars: A Songwriter’s Event Benefitting ACM Lifting Lives® and Luke Bryan presented Young with his trophy at the Cumulus/Westwood One Radio Remotes.
“I have never felt so loved in all my life. My peers voted for this. The people in the trenches – the labels, the publishers, the songwriters, the artists vote for these awards. I’ve been out for a long time and three years ago I wasn’t eligible to walk the carpet. [Now] I got to walk the carpet with pride and hug everyone along the way.” – New Female Lauren Alaina.
Old Dominion won ACM Vocal Group of the Year Award, their first award in this category and their second ACM win. They previously won ACM New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at the 51st ACM Awards in 2016.

Rhett Akins was announced as the winner of this year’s ACM Songwriter of the Year Award (off-camera category) on Friday (April 13) at the ACM Stories, Songs & Stars: A Songwriter’s Event Benefitting ACM Lifting Lives, which was presented to him by reigning ACM Songwriter of the Year award winner Lori McKenna. This marked Rhett's first ACM Award after 4 nominations: 2017/2013/2011 Songwriter of the Year & 1997 Top New Male Vocalist

PERFORMANCES

The 53rd annual ACM Awards began with a tribute to the Las Vegas shooting.
Jason Aldean began the tribute by noting that it's the first time that many country stars have been back in Nevada since the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Oct. 1, 2017 Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett were also part of the tribute.
"Music does so much more than provide an escape from the pain. It inspires us, it soothes us and it makes us stronger, Morris said.

Country Music’s Party of the Year featured a superstar lineup of featured collaborations and powerful performances. The awards telecast honored three of country music’s hit songs from 1993 with the “ACM Flashbacks” segments, with Toby Keith and Blake Shelton performing Keith’s celebrated No.1 debut single “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” Alan Jackson and Jon Pardi performing Jackson’s ACM Award-winning hit “Chattahoochee” and Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson performing Reba’s GRAMMY® Award-winning hit “Does He Love You” (her 1993 Linda Davis duet).
Additional collaborations included Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina performing the multi-platinum, No.1 hit “What Ifs,” Bebe Rexha with Florida Georgia Line performing the chart-topping hit “Meant to Be” and ACM Vocal Event of the Year winner Keith Urban and Julia Michaels performing Urban’s new single “Coming Home.”

Taste Of Country - Wow, just wow! Carrie Underwood's ACM performance of "Cry Pretty" was the night's most anticipated performance, and the hype paid off.
"Cry Pretty" is Underwood's new song, the first from an upcoming album. The performance was her first televised appearance since an injury left her with a broken wrist and dozens of stitches in her head and face. Since the November incident she's kept a low profile, but let the mystery remain newsworthy with several photos at her Instagram page. The 35-year-old's April 15 performance was the first time a camera spotted her. She didn't walk the red carpet and was not captured in the audience during the show. At the start, Underwood looked anxious — unsure, even. She's an awards show veteran and two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year, but she wasn't exuding confidence. An audience of her peers seemed to understand it, as well. Keith Urban stood with wife Nicole Kidman before the performance really started to get hot. Lauren Alaina and Maren Morris were two more who watched closely.

Sunday, April 15, From The MGM Grand Garden Arena In Las Vegas.

ACM Nominees:

 Mercury's Chris Stapleton leads with eight nominations for the 53rd Annual ACM Awards, which air April 15 from Las Vegas on CBS. Reba McEntire returns as host. Valory's Thomas Rhett has six, and Capitol's Keith Urban and songwriter Shane McAnallyeach have five nods, RCA's Miranda Lambert and Columbia's Maren Morris each have four, with MCA's Sam Hunt, Capitol's Little Big Town and Big Machine's Midland receiving three.

This year’s show will mark Reba McEntire’s fifteenth time hosting the ceremony, last appearing in 2012 with Blake Shelton.
In addition to surprising audiences with the news that she will return to host, Reba appeared live (Thurs March 1 at 8a (ET)) on “CBS This Morning” to announce this year’s ACM Award nominees for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year, as well as nominees for Song of the Year on Facebook LIVE. “Entertainment Tonight” host Nancy O’Dell announced additional nominees on ETonline.com.

Chris Stapleton leads with eight nominations in five categories, including his first nod for Entertainer of the Year. Stapleton is also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, and twice, as both artist and producer, in both the Album of the Year and Single Record of the Year categories; he received the Album of the Year nod for From a Room: Volume 1, and the Single Record of the Year nod for “Broken Halos.” He is also nominated twice, both as artist and songwriter, in the Song of The Year category for “Whiskey and You.”
Reigning Male Vocalist of the Year, Thomas Rhett earned six nominations, including his second in the Male Vocalist of the Year category. Rhett is also nominated twice, as an artist and producer, for both Album of The Year for Life Changes and Vocal Event of the Year for “Craving You” (featuring Maren Morris). Lastly, he is nominated for his first Music Video of the Year award for “Marry Me,” along with director TK McKamy and producer Dan Atchison.

Keith Urban earned five nominations including his eighth nod for Entertainer of the Year and eleventh nod for Male Vocalist of the Year.  Urban is also nominated for Song of the Year for “Female,” and twice, as both artist and producer in the Vocal Event of the Year category for “The Fighter” (featuring Carrie Underwood). Urban won Top New Male Vocalist of the Year in 2000, and Top Male Vocalist of the Year in 2004 and 2005.  A win in the Entertainer of the Year category would also make him the eighth ever ACM Triple Crown winner.

Reigning Female Vocalist of the Year, Miranda Lambert received four nominations, including her twelfth nod for Female Vocalist of the Year. If she wins, it will be her ninth consecutive win in this category. She is the current record holder for most consecutive wins in the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Miranda is currently tied for the winningest artist in ACM history with 29 awards along with Brooks & Dunn. This year she is also nominated twice, both as artist and songwriter, in the Song of The Year category for “Tin Man,” and for Video of the Year for “We Should Be Friends.”

Reigning New Female Vocalist of the Year Maren Morris received four nominations, including her second nod in the Female Vocalist of the Year category.  Morris is also nominated twice, as an artist and producer, in the Vocal Event of the Year category for “Dear Hate” (featuring Vince Gill). She is nominated again in the category with Thomas Rhett for “Craving You.”

 Sam Hunt received three nominations for his hit “Body Like A Back Road.” One nod in the Single Record of The Year category, and two, both as artist and songwriter, in the Song of the Year category.

Reigning Vocal Group of the Year, Little Big Town, earned their twelfth nomination in the category. This would be their fourth consecutive win and fifth overall. They are also nominated for Album of the Year for Breaker, and Single Record of the Year for “Better Man.”

First-time Academy of Country Music Award nominee, Midland, received three nominations for Vocal Group of the Year, New Vocal Duo/Group of the Year, and Single Record of the Year for “Drinkin’ Problem.”

Eighteen-time ACM Award winner Tim McGraw and sixteen-time ACM Award winner Faith Hill received their first-ever nomination as a duo in the Vocal Duo of the Year category.

Reba McEntire received her sixteenth nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year. This would be her eighth win in the category.

Reba McEntire is "disappointed" that all the nominees for the Entertainer of the Year prize at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards are male.
The 62-year-old singer will be hosting the 2018 ceremony next month (Apr18) and is very much looking forward to the opportunity. However, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Reba admitted she feels sad that gender disparity is once again such an issue, with all the artists up for the evening's biggest prize being male - namely Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban.
"It's disappointing that there's no female in the Entertainer of the Year category," she mused.
But Reba added she doesn't see things staying this way for long, explaining: "The country music business is very cyclical. It'll go very traditional with the music or it will go very contemporary. The girls dominate, or the boys dominate, so, it's coming around. I have faith."
Reba is no stranger to the ACM Awards, and currently holds the record for the most wins, with 16 gongs under her belt. And when it comes to taking home prizes, Reba cites her competitive nature as the reason she's such a big fan of emerging victorious.

Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line were also snubbed by ACM voters, but there are some pleasant surprises. Carly found out while 30,000 feet in the air on a SOUTHWEST flight. She shared, "I have dreamt of being nominated for an ACM Award my entire life. All the years I watched the show from my couch, wondering if I’d ever make it to the awards as a nominee, are now coming true. I love you, Country music!!"
