The Canadian Country Music
Association® (CCMA) announced that Canadian fashion expert Jessica Mulroney would work with esteemed Canadian designer duo Greta
Constantine to create all
looks for 2018 CCMA Awards show host Shania Twain. Making her first red carpet appearance in over a
decade, Twain confirmed that Greta Constantine would create four ensembles that
she revealed during the CCMA Red Carpet and the 2018 CCMA Awards, broadcast
live from Hamilton on Sunday, September 9 nationwide on CBC and
cbcmusic.ca/ccmas at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

Since being announced as Twain's
stylist in August Mulroney worked with the Greta Constantine duo of Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong to create a series of unforgettable looks for Twain
to wear at the annual Awards.
"We've had the honour of
dressing many industry trailblazers-- diverse women that push boundaries and
embrace the challenges that tomorrow brings," starts Kirk Pickersgill.
Stephen Wong continued, "For us, working with Shania was a particularly
special experience given her genuine excitement for fashion and an eagerness to
take risks."
The 53-year-old singer shined
bright like a diamond in a sequinned pink off-the-shoulder gown, a red taffeta
number, blue sequins accessorized with black ribbon and lastly, a jaw-dropping
royal blue crushed-velvet robe. Jessica gave the velvet number some shape with
a wide blue belt to match, an accessory that’s also found a fan in the Duchess
of Sussex.
Every time Twain hit the stage,
she dazzled, sporting an off-the-shoulder pink sequined dress, a shimmery
purple number, a strapless red evening gown, and a billowy purple dress cinched
at the waist with a hot-pink belt. The “You’re Still The One” singer, who
described her CCMA wardrobe as “gorgeous and colorful,” told InStyle her
favorite look of the night was the pink sequined dress she wore on the red
carpet. “I haven’t done a red carpet in a few years, so I wanted something
really fun and bright,” she said. “It was also incredibly comfortable, and it
just felt really special.”

have excelled during the past year, with a Canadian
Country Music Association Award. CCMA Awards are presented each fall during
Country Music Week.

The Canadian
Country Music Association® (CCMA) took
over FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON, on
Sunday, September 9 (live in all
time zones on CBC and at cbcmusic.ca/ccmas at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT), for Canada’s biggest night in country
music, celebrating the world’s top talent from the 2018 CCMA Awards stage.
Broadcast live on CBC, the evening saw host Shania Twain awarded with Top Selling Album of the Year, Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year, the CCMA Generation Award and the coveted Apple Music
Fans’ Choice Award.
Twain also took several opportunities to celebrate
the inroads women are making in the country music industry.
“I’m thrilled to see women in country dominating
the album of the year category,” she said, pointing to how rare it was to see
so many women among the nominees. “But we can go further by recognizing a place
for diversity in country music by being inclusive and by really respecting what
women of country have always been able to deliver: heart, soul and a kick-ass

PRESENTERS: Alessia Cara joined the 2018 CCMA
Awards' star-studded roster of performers and presenters to bestow the CCMA
Generation Award on five-time GRAMMY and 24-time CCMA Award winner Shania Twain.
At
just 20 years old, Alessia Cara has captured the hearts and minds of listeners
worldwide. The GRAMMY and multi-JUNO Award-winning artist has taken the music
industry by storm since launching her first single "Here" in 2015. Cara presented 2018 CCMA Awards show host
Shania Twain with the CCMA Generation Award. Highlighting internationally
celebrated artists who have pushed country music forward to new audiences, the
presentation of the CCMA Generation Award celebrates Twain's significant impact
on the country music industry globally.
Twain
joins Taylor Swift as the second CCMA Generation Award recipient.
Additional
presenters for the 2018 CCMA Awards included CBC personalities Jonny Harris
(Still Standing/Murdoch Mysteries); hit comedy Kim's Convenience stars Simu Liu
and Nicole Power; and Frankie Drake Mysteries stars Lauren Lee Smith and
Chantel Riley. CBC Music hosts Amanda Parris (Marvin's Room, CBC Arts:
Exhibitionists) and Raina Douris (Host of Mornings) will also join the list of
presenters on this year's show.
Country
music artists taking the stage to present included Gord Bamford, Chad Brownlee,
Aaron Goodvin, JoJo Mason, Michelle Wright, Donovan Woods and international
guest Dustin Lynch. Hamilton Tiger Cats linebacker Simioni Lawrence and wide
receiver Luke Tasker along with Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil will also
be presenters on the Awards.
AWARDS: Jess Moskaluke
won Album of the Year the first woman to do so since 2004 (Dress Rehearsal -
Carolyn Dawn Johnson).
Meghan
Patrick was recognized as Female Artist for the second year in a row,
while Dallas Smith won male artist.
James
Barker Band’s “Chills” picked up single of the year, giving the song an extra
boost after it won top-selling single at a gala dinner ahead of the broadcast. The Reklaws won the rising star award.
Brett
Kissel won Interactive Artist or Group of the Year, his fifth
consecutive win.
PERFORMANCES: One-of-a-kind
performances were at the heart of the show’s success, starting with the night’s
opener -- a Shania Twain tribute performed by FORD Album of the Year
winner Jess Moskaluke, Kira
Isabella and Madeline
Merlo.
Surrounded by a crowd of 10,000 country music
fans, the 2018 CCMA Awards stage came to life as internet-sensation Mason Ramsey ( >> YouTube) made his first Canadian award show appearance and international
superstar Keith Urban performed his
hit “Never Coming Down”.
Highlights also included collaboration
performances by 2018 CCMA Award winner Brett Kissel (Interactive Artist of
the Year) and Serena Ryder.

The
Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) announced 19-time CCMA Award and
three-time JUNO Award Winner Terri Clark
as the 2018 artist inductee to the Canadian
Country Music Hall of Fame.

A weekend of celebrating Canada’s best in country music began
with the first 18 awards being handed out on the afternoon of Fri Sept 7, 2018
in Hamilton, ON. Recognizing key industry players, the CCMA Industry Lunch
& Awards presented by Nielsen Music was hosted by Steve Kassay and saw
Travis Switzer entering the Musician Hall of Honour by taking home his 5th win
for Bass Player of the Year.
CCMA Legends Show: A Tribute
to Yesterday & Today. The show was a memorable experience to witness
award-winning country musicians paying tribute to some of Canada's most
admirable country artists. Hosted by Beverley
Mahood, attendees enjoyed performances by Hall of Fame inductees who have made a mark on the Canadian country
music scene alongside rising and current hit-makers. The Legends Show included performances
by Chad Brownlee, 2018 Hall of Fame Inductee Terri Clark, Aaron Goodvin,
Charlie Major, Jason McCoy and JJ Shiplett, and 2018 Spotlight Performance
Contest winner Cory Gallant. These celebrated artists joined previously
announced guests Patricia Conroy, Russell deCarle, Beverley Mahood, Jess
Moskaluke, Murray McLauchlan and Michelle Wright.'
CCMA The Best In
Country Music: 2018 CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards
On Saturday Sept 8, the CCMA handed out an additional 14
awards at the 2018 CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards, including Songwriter(s) of the Year (presented by
ole) and Stingray Video of the Year.
The evening was brought to life with numerous performances,
inductions into the Canadian Country
Music Hall of Fame (Terri Clark // Jackie Rae Greening) and the
presentation of two CCMA Awards of
Achievement (Slaight Music Humanitarian Award // Leonard T. Rambeau
International Award).
It was also a night of repeat wins in a handful of artist award
categories. Brett Kissel took home the CCMA Award for Interactive Artist of the Year for the
fifth consecutive year while The Washboard Union celebrated
their third win in the Roots Artist or Group of the Year category. Four-time
2018 CCMA Award nominees James Barker Band took
home their first CCMA Awards win for Top Selling Canadian Single of the Year
(“Chills”).
Making
this year's show extra special was the induction of Dallas Harms' "Paper
Rosie" into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. The BMI
award-winning country ballad originally appeared on Harms' 1975 LP Paper Rosie.
Earning Harms several awards in 1976 (RPM's Big Country Best Single, Top
Composer awards and a BMI Canada Certificate of Honour), "Paper
Rosie" became a #1 hit when recorded by Gene Watson in 1977. Proving
highly successful in both Canada and the USA, Watson's "Paper Rosie"
beat out Kenny Rogers' "Lucille" and topped RPM's country chart at
No. 1 (w/o May 28, 1977). The track also reached No. 3 on Billboard's Hot
Country Singles chart (April 9, 1977 behind "Lucille" at No. 1), No.
4 on the Cash Box Chart, and was a winner of the 1977 Clement Cup for No. 1
singles recorded at Clement Studios. "Paper Rosie" earned Harms a
1981 JUNO Award nomination (Country Male Vocalist of the Year), paving the way
to him becoming an inductee to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.
