(17 Jan 2025) BCMA British Country Music Association Awards 2024 Winners Announced - SEE BLOG POST

(17 Jan 2025) (Nashville, TN) - Rising British Country artist Brook Ellingworth has released his new single, “Truck Stop,” offering a taste of his highly anticipated debut album, Roll The Dice, set for release on February 28, 2025. The single, “Truck Stop,” is available now on all streaming platforms here.
“Truck Stop” tells the narrative of a boy trying to change a girl's mind, urging her to make a “truck stop” and reconsider her LA-bound journey. With a heavy guitar lead and crying pedal steel, the production and structure of the song takes the ballad to a more personal level, setting the tone for the rest of the album.
"This was my first co-write in Nashville, a love story I created with Greg Crowe," Ellingworth shares. "The song is about a boy deeply in love with a girl who's chasing her dreams. Rather than following the usual male-to-female perspective, we wanted to capture the depth of his heartbreak and longing for her return. So, instead of singing to her directly, I chose to sing to the truck she left town in, making it a more unique and emotional take on the story."

(17 Jan 2025) Northern Ireland’s Gareth released his original song ‘Last Thing I Do’, which received its first radio play on BBC Radio 1 this week, with Future Pop presenter Jodie Bryant saying of the track, “it’s fun, it’s country, it’s pop to the max.”
The 24-year old, who Bob Harris said “is going to be a big star” on his show BBC Radio 2 (Thurs 16 Jan), is gaining immense traction for blending his Irish roots with his love of country music and storytelling and was named one of Absolute Radio Country’s ‘Class of 2025’ artists-to-watch earlier this week.
Gareth said of the release, “I wrote this song as it relates to my recent move from Northern Ireland to Nashville. The song mentions that no matter where you travel or what dreams you chase, you will never forget those that are closest to you. Somehow you will always find your way back to the ones you love. I am excited to kick off this new chapter of music with this song."
‘Last Thing I Do’ was written by Gareth alongside Zach Crowell, who is a three-time GRAMMY Award nominee and has written/produced over 30 #1 songs, and Ilsey Juber, whose credits include: Beyoncé’s ‘All Night’, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Midnight Sky’, Mark Ronson's ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ and Jelly Roll’s ‘When The Drugs Don’t Work’.
Gareth is set to hit the road with Chayce Beckham for a run of shows in Canada next month, followed by appearances at C2C: Country To Country Festival in Berlin (March 7) and Rotterdam (March 9) before embarking on his debut European headline tour in the spring

UK CHART NEWS
UK Albums
10 January 2025 - 16 January 2025
Chappell Roan took her debut record THE RISE AND FALL OF A MIDWEST PRINCESS back to the top, scoring a second non-consecutive week at the Official Albums Chart summit.

Consistently in the chart as a member of The Beatles, legendary drummer Ringo Starr has a more chequered solo career, with only three of his 21 studio albums making the Top 75, most recently Goodnight Vienna, more than 50 years ago. Nevertheless, the 84-year-old Liverpudlian has a cult following, and his new country album LOOK UP – primarily written and produced by T Bone Burnett – is his fourth in a row to make the Top 200, each charting higher than the last.

Ringo failed to make an impression at all with 2010 release Y Not, but since then he has peaked at No.157 with 2015’s Postcards From Paradise, No.105 with 2017’s Give Me Love and No.99 with 2019’s What’s My Name. LOOK UP topped them all this week, debuting at No.79 (2,038 sales).

In his 39th chart frame Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) fell 34-41
Post Malone “I Had Some Help” (feat. Morgan Wallen) fell 53-58 in their 34th frame.

(18 Jan 2025) Martina McBride Suffers Loss of her father aged 86: On Facebook she sharedI really don’t have the right words. My dad passed away Tuesday night. Our hearts are broken. He was 86 and had an amazing life. He was a third-generation family farmer. He was also the leader of our family band, The Schiffters. He taught me so much about music, about life, about how to treat others. Since my mom passed 5 years ago Dad and I talked on the phone every single night and sometimes during the day. Over 1800 conversations that I am so grateful I had. I was able to record some of them, some of his stories, and they are priceless to me. He kept active, still driving and living in his home, and “going down for coffee” with his friends at the local CO-OP. He passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home.

“If you’re going to make history, show up and honor the moment.”
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Moments after clearing the studio at NBC’s “TODAY,” Kenny Chesney was in a car to Times Square. Having just sat on the couch with hosts Craig Melvin and Carson Daly to share the news of his upcoming Sphere residency kicking off May 22, the high impact songwriter/superstar found himself on several of the electronic billboards around the heart of Manhattan. “Kenny Chesney has broken many records in his 30-year career, from record-setting concert attendance to music chart milestones, and now the country superstar will add another accolade to his list when he becomes the first country artist to perform at the Las Vegas Sphere.”

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sometimes when you’ve got good news, show up and share it with the world. For Kenny Chesney, notoriously circumspect about everything except his music, being only the sixth band – behind Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees U2, the Eagles and Dead + Company, plus jam force Phish and electronic artist Anyma – to bring their iconic sound to Vegas’ Sphere was a strong reason to go to New York to talk, instead of play, music.
Having made the Sphere announcement at the start of “TODAY”’s 8:30 a.m. half hour, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar stopped in at “The Tonight Show” to talk what made him take on the challenge of being the first country artist to play the groundbreaking venue, the fact he’d not seen a concert there before signing on and several good friends who share his penchant for creating and playing songs that touch people where they live, but also where they feel most alive.

(13 Jan 2025) Buck White, patriarch of country music group The Whites passed today at age 94.
His family (daughters Sharon, Cheryl, Rosie and Melissa) today released the following statement:

The Lord answered our prayers and took our daddy home peacefully (Monday January 13) morning at 8:00 a.m. We are so thankful for his 94 years on this earth. He was a great Dad who taught us by example to put Jesus first always. His great loves were the Lord, our mother, his family and music. Most people will remember him not only for being a great musician and entertainer, but also for being fun-loving and full of mischief. He lived a full life and finished well.

The Whites, (collectively Buck White and daughters Sharon White-Skaggs and Cheryl White) performed together as a family act since the mid-1960s, and came to Nashville to pursue a career in music in 1971.

In the early part of the 1980s, The Whites delivered favorites like their first Top 10, “You Put The Blue In Me,” as well as “Hangin’ Around,” “Give Me Back That Old Familiar Feeling,” and “Pins And Needles,” – the latter all produced by Sharon’s husband, country and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs (the two married in 1981), culminating in the induction as members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1984.
The Whites, hand-picked for their involvement in the movie and soundtrack, O Brother, Where Art Thou? led to considerable industry recognition – including the greatest honor possible - a GRAMMY win in the esteemed ‘Album of the Year’ category. They also received ‘Album of the Year’ trophies from the ACM (Academy of Country Music), the Country Music Association (CMA), and the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards.
