Music-News.com - Kacey was 'turned off' idea of becoming an artist and had no intention of becoming an artist until she found herself refusing to give up tunes she had penned as a songwriter. The Follow Your Arrow hitmaker developed a passion for singing when she was a child, and quickly learned how to play the mandolin and guitar, but as she began weighing up her career options as a teen, the idea of being thrust into the limelight didn't really appeal to her. It was only after moving to Nashville, Tennessee from her native Texas at the age of 19 that she settled on the idea of establishing herself as a songwriter.
However, that all changed when Kacey struggled with the thought of handing over some of her most treasured tracks to others to record. "I was kind of turned off by the whole artist side of things," she told U.S. breakfast show This Morning. "And then somewhere along the way, I started collecting these songs that felt like I wouldn't want to give them up." Read more at Music-News.com

PERFORMANCES

Among the highlights of the night were an Americana superstar clearly having the most fun of anyone onstage tonight, and many of the performers choosing a less-is-more approach to their segments.
Here's how Billboard ranked each performance from WORST to FIRST.

#26 Chrissy Metz, featuring Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, Maddie & Tae, and Carrie Underwood, "I'm Standing With You" : The star wattage of Metz's collaborators wasn't enough to make up for the lead singer's inexperience - this was her singing debut - or her clear nervousness onstage.

#25 Blake Shelton, "God's Country"
#24 George Strait, "God and Country Music"
#23 Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line, "Can't Hide Red"
#22 Luke Bryan, "Knockin' Boots"
#21 Brooks & Dunn and Luke Combs, "Brand New Man"
#20 Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne, "All My Favorite People"
#19 Jason Aldean, "Lights Come On"/"Don't You Wanna Stay" (with Kelly Clarkson)/ "Dirt Road Anthem" Medley
#18 Miranda Lambert, "Kerosene"/"Gunpowder & Lead"/"Mama's Broken Heart"/"White Liar"/"Little Red Wagon" Medley

Miranda Lambert seemingly shaded her ex-husband Blake Shelton by updating the lyrics to her song Little Red Wagon at the 2019 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on Sunday (07Apr19).

Taking the stage in a black sequinned jumpsuit to perform a rendition of her track Little Red Wagon, which traditionally features the line "I live in Oklahoma", where she used to reside with Blake while they were married between 2011 and 2015. On Sunday night, she altered the lyrics and belted out the updated line, "I got the hell out of Oklahoma." It's not the first time she has revamped the words, but the first time she has done so at an event where her ex-husband and his new girlfriend Gwen Stefani were present. A number of Twitter users praised Miranda for her shady move, with one writing, "Miranda Lambert just sang 'got the hell out of Oklahoma' with Blake Shelton in the room and I have so much respect (clapping emojis)". However, others were less than impressed, with one writing, "That was a classless move towards Blake, no reason for that," and another posting, "Um, @mirandalambert you can stop cussing Oklahoma in your jabs at Blake...move on already."

#17 Dan + Shay with Kelly Clarkson, "Keeping Score"
#16 George Strait and Miranda Lambert, "Run"
#15 George Strait, "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar"
#14 Reba McEntire, "Freedom"
#13 Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line ”Can't Hide Red”
#12 Keith Urban, "Burden"
#11 Luke Combs, "Beautiful Crazy"
#10 Old Dominion, "Make It Sweet"
#9 Thomas Rhett, "Look What God Gave Her"
#8 Kane Brown, "Good As You"/"Saturday Nights" (with Khalid)

#7 Little Big Town, "The Daughters"
#6 Chris Stapleton, "A Simple Song"
#5 Carrie Underwood, "Southbound"

#4 Lanco, "Rival"
#3 Dierks Bentley and Brandi Carlile, "Travelin' Light"
