The finalists
for the 2013 New
Zealand National Country Music Awards have been announced. The awards will be held at
Founders Theatre, Hamilton on Saturday 17th August. The cream of New Zealand’s
country music stars will assemble for this, the most prestigious national award
on the country music calendar.
Juice Newton will be performing her first New
Zealand show ever. Also appearing are Australian singer and winner of the
Tamworth Road to Discovery Gina-Rose Bruce, the Heartleys and David Shanhun. Representing
the Kiwi music contingent is Kaylee Bell, Aly Cook, Trevor V Stevens, Kylie
Price, Jody Direen, Joshua Gray and Cameron Scott.

Multiple Golden
Guitar winners Jetty Road will be
packing their bags and heading to the USA next week for a month long
stint in Nashville. After extensive touring within Australia, Europe and
Canada, this trip will be used to showcase Jetty Road to the United States
music industry, as well as allowing the band to undertake an intensive song
writing program for upcoming releases.
The band will
travel to Nashville without fourth member Simon Ross, who has decided to part ways with the
group. In a very difficult decision which has saddened all involved, Simon has
expressed the need to devote more time to his 4 yr old son Nico, who lives in
Germany and will therefore pursue other projects.

CANADIAN NEWS
The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) announced the full list of nominees for the
2013 Canadian Country Music
Association Awards. Leading the pack with seven nominations is
celebrated Canadian artist Gord Bamford.
Bamford is
nominated for CCMA Fans’ Choice, Album of the Year (presented by Walmart), CMT
Video of the Year, Single of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Record
Producer(s) of the Year, and Male Artist of the Year.
Following
closely behind, Dean Brody has
earned five CCMA Award nominations this year. Like Bamford, Brody will compete
for top honours within the CCMA Fans’ Choice, Single of the Year, Songwriter of
the Year (two nominations), and Male Artist of the Year categories.
The CCMA Fans’ Choice Award nomination
leaders Gord Bamford and Dean Brody again going head to head with powerhouse
performers George Canyon, Terri Clark, and Johnny Reid to compete for the
prestigious award voted on by Canadian country music fans.
The Band Perry, were confirmed to perform on the live broadcast
in Edmonton on September 8, 2013."We're
thrilled to be a part of the Canadian Country Music Association Awards,"
said the members of The Band Perry. "We haven't performed
for our fans in Canada since 2011 and

Kenny Rogers will headline the 16th Annual Concert for Cumberland Heights
on Wednesday, September 25, at 8 p.m. at the historic Ryman
Auditorium.....Rogers will officially be inducted into the Country Music Hall
of Fame during the Medallion Ceremony in Nashville this October. In addition to
his recent selection for inclusion in the Hall of Fame, Rogers will celebrate
the upcoming release of his novel, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES, co-written with Mike
Blakely on September 3.
Keith Urban has teamed with Hallmark Gold Crown stores to offer
a collection of (overpriced!) Hallmark Keith Urban sound cards that includes 12
cards, ranging from celebrating birthdays and friendship, to sending love and
encouragement. Priced at $4.99, each card in the line features a 15-second
sound clip from some of Urban’s songs such as “Long, Hot Summer” and “Sweet

Our Field: Connie Britton's role of Rayna James in ABC-TV's Nashville has
earned her an Emmy
nomination for Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series 2013. The song
"Nothing In This World Will Ever Break My Heart Again" written by
Sarah Buxton and Kate York brought another nom for the show in the category of
Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics 2013.
Brad Paisley Slams 'Rolling Stone' Magazine. Garth, Willie and Taylor Swift have
all been on the cover of Rolling Stone and now it’s under fire for putting the
Boston Bomber on its cover. Brad Paisley tweets, “this is in poor taste. We shouldn't make
rock stars out of murderers.” John Rich wrote, “it's a heart breaker to see an iconic music
mag glorify a terrorist. I dreamed of being on that cover, like any other
singer. No more.”
Rolling Stone
added that many of its readers are in the same age group as the bombing
suspect, and it was important for the magazine to explore the issue.

performances from the recent CMT Crossroads: Willie Nelson & Friends From Third Man
Records special are included on a three-sided double vinyl LP with a gatefold sleeve. The
album will be available as a subscription-only limited edition through Third Man
Records. The CMT Crossroads taping took place at Third Man Records as part of
Nelson's 80th birthday celebration.
Writer/singer/multi-instrumentalists
Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott will
answer prayers of roots-music fans at long on Sept. 17 with the release of MEMORIES &
MOMENTS, the second studio album from highly regarded, released on
their newly formed Full Skies imprint, a compound of O’Brien’s Howdy Skies and
Scott’s Full Light labels through Thirty Tigers.
Comprising five
songs apiece from O’Brien and Scott plus one memorable collaboration in their
timely “Turn Your Dirty Lights On,” along with a pair of chestnuts from Hank
Williams and George Jones and a spirited rendition of the John Prine classic
“Paradise,” with its author guesting on guitar and vocals, Memories &
Moments is a face-to-face record by design.
Recorded in a
proper studio this time, the new album took only three days to complete. So far
the Kickstarter Project has received 676
Backers raising $31,341 of the $30,000 goal.
Sunny Sweeney is the latest country artist to launch a
fundraising campaign [Pledgemusic.com] for her next album. She is teaming
up with Thirty Tigers but will own the master recordings. After having left the
Big Machine Label Group last year, Sweeney is gearing up to release a third
album.
Alan Jackson reveals cover and tracklisting for new bluegrass
