Garth Brooks recently visited Dublin, Ireland to make a special announcement in person. Standing in Croke Park, the location of his sell out concerts in 1997, the legendary entertainer announced that he will return to that same venue in July 2014 for two performances, before the start of his worldwide tour, which is slated to begin later this year.

Before we go back on tour in the Fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band, and crew,” Brooks said. “In ’97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, and the stadium was under construction. 130,000+ of some of the greatest fans in the world [joined us]. I was quoted then as saying, ‘When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink.’…and we’re back to do just that.” (Source: garthbrooks.com )

Garth told ABC News Radio to expect many more concerts outside North America on his upcoming tour. Garth explains, "I think this is gonna have more of an international flavor than any of our tours have had so far." He adds that a lot of festivals have popped up in the years since he last toured, making it more cost-effective for him to play overseas. "What this allows us to do is it allows us to go from festival to festival without hauling all of our gear there," Garth says, "which kind of limited you on where you could go on the world tour and how much things cost and stuff. I think it's actually going to open up a window to where maybe we can play a lot more outside North America than we ever have."

Martina McBride announced a date at Manchester Academy for Sunday, 16 March 2014 and then subsequently scrapped it 2 days later. A statement read: “Unfortunately due to a change in Martina McBride's schedule the Manchester show cannot happen in March. It will be rescheduled to a later date”

Kathryn Anderson a fairly new on the scene British artist hooked up with Paul Braithwaite on BBC Radio Cumbria on Sunday Jan 19th 2014 with a live phone radio interview.

She spoke about her 6 track EP THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED which was the featured album on the programme with 5 tracks played (BBC Cumbria Showpage).
Listen to the edited interview here:

The EP, all original songs, was self released on Dec 29, 2013 and it’s available to purchase digitally on Amazon UK MP3 and UK iTunes . You can hear/ download samples of all the tracks on soundcloud.com, reverbnation.com
Regarding the title track BBC Radio Norfolk’s Keith Greentree said on his Saturday Jan 18th Rodeo Norfolk show – “Is that good or what, I think that’s absolutely brilliant”
The now Uckfield, Sussex based 23 year old singer-songwriter a graduate in Popular Music Performance from Southampton Solent University first took an interest in country music via Taylor Swift’s early works then exploring other types of country music (Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Dixie Chicks). Soaking up the culture she has come to love the traditional classic sounds from the likes of Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Merle Haggard.

Kathryn introduced her music with a terrific single “Write A Letter” which appeared on the promotional Hotdisc (#168 Dec 2012) which picked up airplay on regional, independent and internet radio stations. It spent 8 weeks on the top 20 of the Hotdisc Chart peaking at #3 on the Hotdisc Top 40 and #2 on the British & Irish Hotdisc Top 10 in February 2013. It drew praise on the local BBC Country programmes: ”Write A Letter’ it comes highly recommended by me, I think it’s wonderful” - Joe Fish BBC Radio Lancashire (28 Oct 2012)
This is a lovely track I think she's got a lot of potential, very nice indeed, so nice to hear her own song recorded professionally” - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire (24 Aug 2012)
Kathryn’s songs are autobiographical (life experiences) and her aim is to write songs that her audience can relate to, with melodic patterns that are memorable. Promoting the EP she recently had a short facet on BBC South East Today which spotlighted her recent 3-month stay in Nashville, TN where she wrote, performed and recorded even landing an extras part on the Nashville TV drama and met the cast! >> YouTube On Jan 17th her local Press ran a “Hits The iTunes Chart” feature - Image

Instead, the contenders in the Best Original Song category includee U2's “Ordinary Love” (from Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom), Karen O’s “The Moon Song” and the song “Let It Go” from the Disney blockbuster Frozen.

COUNTRY GOSSIP
  • Jason Aldean is currently working on his next studio album, but he's not sure how big a role his recent split from his wife of 12 years, Jessica, will play in his song selection. Jason tells the Quad City Times, "The music may reflect it a little bit, but to me, stuff happens. It's a done deal and I don't dwell on those things. I'm all right. I don't think about that." While he knows fans will try to read meaning into whatever he records on this next album, Jason isn't looking to unload his personal troubles on this next album. "People can think whatever they want," Jason explains. "My feeling is that I'm going to go record an album and I'm going to find the best songs I can find."

TWEETS
Taylor Swift doesn't spend a lot of time on Twitter, but when she does tweet, she usually makes her tweets funny or memorable.  And while she has more than 30 million Twitter followers, Taylor says that's because when it comes to social media, she's careful not to over-share -- mostly, she claims, because her actual life, well, isn't all that interesting. Speaking to Teen Vogue, Taylor explains, "I'll tweet maybe once every two weeks. I don't want to seem like I always have my phone out looking for the next thing to upload. One of the most important things about social media is knowing when to put the phone down and experience your life."  She adds, "If I were to tweet what I'm doing every minute, all you'd get would be pictures of me watching TV with my cat, and you'd be depressed for me!"
