Co-written by Becky and Brian, the reflective, poignant, and beautifully realised Hello Dad, is a moving tribute to Brian’s father, Vincent Smith (1932-1989), a musician himself, who passed away in 1989. The song has an emotional weight and looks at the ever-constant fears and woes of everyday life against the hope of something better whilst remembering a loved one.
The haunting, ethereal steel guitar and Dobro of Robbie Turner
swirls around Becky Haley’s cracked, broken voice, creating a universal message
into a pained work of anguished beauty full of optimism highlighted by the
timeless harmony of Jo-Ann. Hello Dad is both wistful and
cathartic; a song to comfort in an hour of darkness, the message is so deep
that it takes your breath away.
“It’s absolutely beautiful a tribute to their
father, really lovely” – Marie
