It was a Glitter Hoedown once again on the CMA Awards red carpet!
"The 48th Annual CMA Awards" was hosted for the seventh consecutive
year on Wednesday Nov 5, 2014 by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and
broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the ABC TV Network.
The best and
brightest of country music joined together at the awards show.
Major trend: It's
a little, er, risqué.
Stars took to
CMAs in dresses featuring sexy sheer
illusion panels—and it seems that a little see-through can do the body
good.
Kellie Pickler's gown showcased slim, body-tracing panels
that made cool geometric shapes, a look that was almost as sexy as the
leg-baring Calvin Klein Collection gown model Lily Aldridge sported on the carpet. It seems Aldridge went sans
underwear, becoming the latest in a line of celebrities to forgo under-things
in favour of body-baring looks.
Nicole Kidman went with a lacy Roberto Cavalli
confection that had strategically-placed flowers over a sheer, long-sleeved
bodice. The floor-length white dress was a sweet choice for the actress, who
walked the red carpet with hubby Keith Urban.
Other stars
getting in on the see-through fun included Kacey
Musgraves (who sported a, well, helmet-esque style on the red carpet), Kimberly Perry and Faith Hill.
CMA Awards co-host Carrie Underwood donned a gold beaded frock with a sheer overlay—adding more layers to nestle her small baby bump.

What were the country stars, celebs and presenters
wearing?
Ladies first (A – Z)
Ashley Monroe – There to perform with Blake Shelton
the “Like a Rose” singer-songwriter wore a sparkly micro mini ensemble which was
arguably the shortest mini dress of the night! Was she wearing something on
underneath as she kept it short and sweet combined with strappy black heels. Ashley
whole look is very 1969-meets-1995. Later for her live performance
in what
might be a referred to as dress? She nearly exposed her bottom half more than
once, donning the shortest of slinky silver numbers showing off those enviable
pins. In the new music video of Shelton
's “'Lonely Tonight” the lovely songbird wears perhaps an even shorter Haute
Hippie Spring 2015
silver sequin dress along with a Fall 2014 black feather tuxedo jacket!
Ashley Monroe Press Room |
Aubrey Peeples – The Nashville TV drama actress (who
plays Layla Grant) balanced a two-piece ensemble boasting a perforated white
cropped top and sequin maxi dress for a trendy look. Her TV character style has
been getting darker and grungier on Nashville, that's the way Aubrey Peeples
likes it showing off her edgier side on the 2014 CMA Awards carpet.
The actress spilled about how Layla's wardrobe and her own are starting to merge This ensemble is all about the shimmery black maxi skirt which resonates with a grand awards show but the top didn’t.

Brandy Clark – Looking stunning the New Artist of the
Year Nominee and Vocal Duo co-presenter wore a full length figure hugging Monique
Lhuillier glittering
dress with peekaboo sleeves by Pamella Roland. Flowing locks, a radiant smile
and carrying a artistic designed Clutch rounded out a great look - Image - Image - Headshot - Presenting -
Carrie Underwood – The CMA co-host and nominated CMA Female
Vocalist wore a vintage-style custom fully beaded champagne gown as the Mom-to-be
looked radiant in a Lorena Sarbu dress with a high-low hem. The gown did
a great job of concealing her bump (until she turned to the side), was
beautifully embellished, pretty and full of girly flair. She wore Jimmy
Choo Amika Patent
Leather & Lace Pumps, this style is from the Fall 2013 collection featuring
sheer nude floral lace, patent leather cap-toe and 120mm heel(Image - Image - Image ) The “Something In The Water” singer styled her look with big
waves, glossy lips and diamond drop earrings for overall perfection of her
award show look - Image
All told
including her red carpet, live performance and hosting duties she wore a total
of 12 outfits!!:
1. Playful Ruffles - Image On stage, the co-host played up her pregnancy in a Randi Rahm ruffle-hem A-line dress with an embellished empire-waist band and donned Brian Atwood sandals.
2. Pretty in
Paisley - Image Offering a nod to her co-host, the mom-to-be flaunted a
form-fitting Randi Rahm paisley-print—and, naturally,
sparkling—frock.
3. Sequined Mini
- Image Yet another Randi Rahm creation, the singer sported the casual
cut of a T-shirt dress, which was of course blinged out with muted sequins.
4. Sparkling Maxi
- Image Loving the short sleeves and sequins she sported a longer Theia version later in the night.
6. Lady in Red - Image Her other solid maxi was more saturated and came in a Grecian-inspired, one-shoulder silhouette.
7. Fit for a
Princess - Image For
her live performance of her
latest single, "Something in the Water," the superstar belted out the
number in a delicate embroidered princess gown.
8. Sheer Shades
- Image Trying on the sheer trend, the country star channelled her boho
side in a Randi Rahm draped green long-sleeve maxi.
9. Country
Royalty - Image One of her final frocks was a royal blue, body-hugging number with
rouching.
10. This bright
pink and white combination, a custom number by Theia, might've been her cheeriest of the night
- Image
11. In one of
the telecast cast moments in the audience she wore a dark flimsy sequined mini
dress

CMA Awards rehearsals. Original air date: 05/11/2014 >> View on YouTube
Cassadee Pope – The 25-year old Season 3 The Voice
champ added some glitz with a sparkling Aidan Mattox metallic skirt
Chaley Rose – What a bod! Sporting a gorgeous curly mane, the ‘Nashville’ star (who plays Zoey) looked gorgeous wearing a dramatic Johnathan Kayne gold damask-pattern sequin gown with stunning strap detail and added impact with Swarovski beading at the V neckline and a strappy suspender back. The scorching look only required minimal pieces of jewelry to add yet more shine.
Clare Bowen – NSW Aussie actress (aka Scarlett O’Connor in “Nashville”) channeled a fairy tale princess and dazzled in her 2-piece black and white gown on the carpet. The black embroidered Vivianne Westwood corset (pulled out of the Scarlett wardrobe as she likes recycling things) went very well with the poofy Haute Hippie Spring 2015 tulle sequin skirt which had black beaded details - Clutch Detail >> Interview Video
Connie Britton – Oh Boy it’s RAYNA! The “Nashville” actress (aka country star Rayna Jaymes) was there to present the CMA Album of the Year and she fitted in perfectly with the real world stars of country-music world at the 48th annual Awards.
She wore a green
Naeem Khan
Spring 2015 three-quarter-sleeve minidress dress featuring intricate threadwork
detailing throughout, with illusion detailing on the yoke and skirt. The dress
they selected was straight off the runway and even from a show Britton attended
during New York Fashion Week. One of the few to go cocktail, this frock easily lived
up to the glamorous occasion with Andrea Fohrman earrings and rings, a David
Mor bracelet and gold leg-lengthening
Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals completed her look - Fashion Pic - (shoe detail)
Connie blushed
when fellow presenter Martina McBride mentioned her fictional nominations—not
to mention a potential collaboration for the coming year. She actually turned
to the ABC series’ costume designer Susie DeSanto for help styling her
glamorous ensemble: Since we did a big CMA episode, she and I were both
dead-set on it being something completely different than what her character
wore to the event."— Susie DeSanto
Danielle Bradbery – The 18-year old Cypress, Texas native
Season 4 The Voice champ dazzled and looked classic and beautiful in a black
gown with a plunging neckline. It was sleek and mature, yet fresh, which was
beyond perfect for the "Young in America" singer. The plunging dress
cut from the soft material, was paired with a Lionette by Noa Sadé bracelet and a side-swept Elsa
braid
Faith Hill – The 47-year young Mississippi native
and "This Kiss" star wore an ultra-feminine Naeem
Kahn dress with a bow
accent at the neckline. Kicking the big country hair into touch the former CMA
Female Vocalist of country went for a shorter sleek ‘do. Timeless glamour swept
up in a beautiful feminine silhouette - Fashion Pic Jewelry was by Martin Katz she carried a Salvatore Ferragamo Purse
and donned Christian Louboutin shoes
to complete her Hollywood star look!
Gretchen Wilson – The 41-year old Pocahontas native “Redneck
Woman" singer and 2005 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year
Went casual in
jeans, boots and a black tank. This was a lazy look more for hopping out running
errands than attending an award show. Ripped jeans, knee-high boots, black
halter top and messy hair seemed to say "SOD YOU ALL. I'm wearing jeans
again."
Hillary Scott – The Lady Antebellum lead singer and a
15 month mum seems to have shed too many pounds showcasing her post-baby bod,
wearing a figure-hugging V-neckline cleavage-enhancing Herve
Leger black gown
accented with gold detailing/ studs. Michael John jewelry, a gold Reece
Hudson clutch and wavy
tresses completed her look - Image
For her
“Bartender” live performance the 28-year old wore a Haute Hippie crystal embellished cold shoulder top.
Jana Kramer – The “One Tree Hill” actress and “Love” country singer went all out in a floral ballgown with bustier top and embellishments on the strapless Badgley Mischka corseted ball gown constructed from pink lurex and turquoise textured floral brocade. Kramer also wore Dionea Orcini earrings, strappy Badgley Mischka sandals a translucent quartz Brumani Ring, a Le Vian Ring and a Casa Reale ring - Fashion Pic
As Kramer was
getting the finishing touches on her smouldering makeup and glossy waves she
revealed she’d be bringing her tall (and very handsome) boyfriend along as her
date to the 2014 awards show! He too got a little help from VonRumpf when
getting dressed.
“Lo also styled
him to make sure he looks all extra cute,” Kramer explains of her man’s Ralph
Lauren suit with Kenneth Cole accents. “We’re coordinating, and he’s going to
look super handsome.” “Honestly, I hate wearing heels,” she admits. “On stage I
wear them, but usually I wear the ones that are comfortable that I can run
around in. For events like this … you just have to suck it up. By the end of
the night though, I’ll make my boyfriend give me a foot massage.
It does hurt,
but I brought a pair of Jimmy Choos in case the Badgley Mischkas are too
uncomfortable.” (Image )
VonRumpf says
her ability to rock sky-high heels are part of what makes her a favourite
client of his. She never complains about the height of stilettos, and he says,
for a stylist, that is “awesome.”....Read More
Jennifer Nettles – The 40-year old Georgia powerhouse
single wowed in a dramatic Christian Siriano Resort 2015 luxurious silk faille
tailored gown in a ball gown silhouette, finished with waist-high pockets
(which she carpet showcased). She also wore bracelets by Norman
Silverman Diamonds and a
Tatto ring - Image The styling was kept very simple, with just a few diamond jewels,
neutral makeup and a sweeping updo completing her look - Fashion Pic
Kacey Musgraves -, 26, in a jeweled powder pink gown

The 26-year old
“Follow Your Arrow” singer-songwriter wowed in a pink Oscar
de la Renta column gown
with intricate embroidery creating sparkle and dimension, which she styled with
a silver clutch (image) and a huge diamond ring. It took a lot to upstage a pretty pink
Oscar de la Renta gown, yet Kacey managed it with extremely enormous hair (Image - Image). This big bouffant is something Dolly Parton might have been proud
of in true country tradition, however, the end result is a tad funny - Image - Getty Images
Karen Fairchild – The Little Big Town singer wore a long
lace slip dress topped off with a red fur jacket, an ensemble she added an
oxblood clutch and boho jewels to.
Katie Armiger - Shine like a diamond: Singer sported a
black halterneck Bariano cocktail dress with studded detail
Kellie Pickler - The 28-year-old rocked sexy and edgy showing
off the sheer back and ornate beading of her navy cap-sleeved Jonathan
Kayne midnight blue gown
with see-through panels. This really was one of the top looks of the night and
a quite remarkable creation. Architecturally constructed in mesh and velvet and
embellished with Swarovski beading it was truly captivating.
Tacori jewels and a Swarovski silver crystal ‘New Power’ clutch
accessorized and added sparkle to her look, with a slicked-back ‘do and silvery
eye makeup drawing out her eyes. Just WOW! - Image
Kimberly Perry – The Band Perry’s leading wore a
sleeveless floor length black Gustavo Cadile gown with an illusion neckline. She kept
things simple but effective with a gold clutch and earrings. Her brothers Reid
Perry and Neil Perry both wore a Paul Smith Tux - Image.
Kimberly Schlapman - The Little Big Town lady went for the
gold in an strapless amber-hued Johanna Johannson tea-length dress and matching platform heels.
A rhinestone-encrusted handbag and Jacob & Co. jewels finished her look. Does it
resemble more of a slinky posh under garment?
Kimberly Williams Paisley – The ‘Two and a Half Men’ and
“Nashville” (role Peggy Kentor) actress oozed glamour and knocked it out of the
CMA park with a floor-length navy embroidered lace Romona Keveza designer gown with a side slit. She
styled with strappy Jimmy
Choo ‘Lance’ sandals and
a decorative sapphire statement necklace.
Lady Antebellum – The trio were photographed with their
married partners to make a stylish entrance together
Hillary Scott,
Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, Cassie McConnell, Chris Tyrrell, Kelli Cashiola. Dave Haywood opted for a monochromatic maroon look with the pin striped suit,
the blue and purple plaid shirt, burgundy tie and the brown shoes whilst lead
singer Charles Kelley went with a grey 3-piece striped
suit with a checked button-down and tie with smart tanned shows. Fine looking
line up - Image
Lennon Stella and Maisy Stella - Sister style: Musical duo Lennon
Stella (Left) & Maisy Stella who play the roles of Maddie Conrad and Daphne
Conrad in “Nashville” donned cute semimatching black sparkly mini dresses. While Lennon chose a burgundy Free
People mini, her little
Maisy chose a MaryLynne Stella dress LBD with a statement collar and a
ruffled pink hem.
Lily Aldridge - As a Victoria's Secret Angel, she is
used to showing some skin and confidently left very little to the imagination. The 28-year-old model looked sultry and showed
off her toned figure in a Calvin Klein Collection long-sleeved tulle and silk cady gown risque
sheer panelled black dress. The body-baring sheer panels and the lack of
underwear helped to pull the look off playing down the blatant sex appeal and serving
up a refined glam with effortless styling. She also wore Jennifer
Meyer jewelry and Stuart
Weitzman Nudist
Ankle-Strap Sandals. Sam Hunt won the prize to join her to present Female
Vocalist though Lily’s hubby Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill lives in
Nashville.
Love and Theft - Laura Kennedy the wife of Stephen
Barker Liles (wearing Lucchese Nashville boots) wore a fetching floor length
gown with embroidered sheer side panels (sherrihill.com) – Image - Image
Lucy Hale - Scarlet fever: The "You Sound
Good to Me" country/pop newcomer and “Pretty Little Liars” actress star
Lucy Hale looked ravishing in red in a Romona Keveza Fall 2014 gown to make a bold statement.
The pop of colour with glossy red lips helped bring her entire ensemble
together. She cut a slinky mermaid silhouette with intricate detailing,
especially the asymmetrical back and contrasting black belt. The black fringed
clutch (Image) gave the look a youthful edge, as do the Porter
Lyons and Melissa Kaye jewelry,
Casa Reale
diamond rings with Norman Silverman and Melissa Kaye earrings (Image) rounding out a flawless winning carpet look - Fashion Pic - Head Shot
Maddie and Tae - The young “Girl In A Country Song” upcoming
ladies didn't coordinate but looked lovely! Marlow gussied up in an eggplant
gown with a sweeping train and Tae Dye bundled up in a Victoria
Kyriakides long-sleeved
lace column dress with a low back.
Martina McBride – The Female Vocalist nominee and Album
of the Year presenter looked doll-like in a black and gold Oscar
de la Renta Fall 2014
Lace-Embroidered A-Line black tulle cocktail dress with an illusion neckline
and sheer skirt. The gold floral embroidery highlighted with jet-black beading
and glass crystals and gave the dress a very classy and glamorous feel. She
styled her look with statement earrings and black patent-leather pumps to complete
her lovely CMA look - Fashion Pic
Meghan Linsey - The now blonde solo singer (ex Steal
Magnolia member) served up some emerald realness in a slit-to-there (and
there!) Ekaterina Kukhareva green lace wrap dress (80% Viscose 20% Lurex) - Clutch detail - Image
Meghan Trainor
[Monique Lhuillier]
|
She accessorized
with a sparkling clutch and glitter-dipped five-and-a-half-inch
"Passarello" stiletto platforms from Aldo. The silver shoes — a departure from her usual
black, chunky-heeled boots she wears during performances — were chosen by Trainor
herself. She shares, "I love glitter and sparkles and thought they were
the perfect complement to the amazing blue Monique Lhuillier dress." Yep,
we're all about this bass.
For her CMA performance the Massachusetts native changed into a pink floral mini dress (way-too-short?) with black tulle fabric peeking behind the bottom hemline. The Nasty Gal moto zip crop jacket leather jacket she paired with it looked swell along with knee-high socks and chunky mary janes platforms. Miranda showed off her recent weight loss physique in a baby blue dress - Image.
Miranda Lambert – The now 31-year old (Nov 10th) rocked a Grecian goddess in a gorgeous ruched blush-pink dress with sheer paneling at the neckline and channeled Old Hollywood in an Art Deco Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2014 chiffon gown.
The singer added
plenty of sparkle courtesy of Lorraine Schwartz, plus an Emm Kuo clutch. Perfectly styled retro waves
solidified the Old Hollywood feel, with a bold red lippie providing the
finishing touch - Fashion Pic
This softer,
ultra-feminine, glamorous approach was very refreshing and one of the best
looks on the night.
Natalie Stovall – The singer from the group Natalie
Stovall and The Drive; had an unforgettable time at her first-ever CMA Awards
on Wednesday night (Nov. 5). She was featured in a five-part digital series,
‘On the Road to the CMAs,’ that was sponsored by JCPenney. Stovall hosted the
segment, and she told Taste of Country she jumped right into the deep end for
her first experience on the other side of the camera. “They had a teleprompter,
but right before I went out the very first thing, they asked me to do all of
the stuff off the cuff, that they needed me to say exactly like they handed it
to me on a sheet,” she recalls. “They said, ‘You’ve got about three minutes,
can you just memorize this giant paragraph?’ And I was like, ‘Oh gosh, oh gosh
— here we go!’”
Stovall — who
was recently featured alongside Lucy Hale, Sheryl Crow and Kacey Musgraves as
one of CMT’s Next Women of Country Music. Her CMA backstage experience allowed
her to talk to RaeLynn and Kelly Sutton, Cole Swindell (image) and even the legendary Garth Brooks (image) - Make up Image
Nicole Kidman - The 47-year actress there to support
her hubby Keith Urban served up the glamour-goddess looking ethereal in a bridal-style
Roberto Cavalli vintage inspired cream dress with floral motifs. Shoes by Sergio
Rossi, a Jimmy Choo purse Fred Leighton jewels (image) and soft
romantic waves rounded out her look - Fashion Pic -
It looks like the
Entertainer of the Year nominee Urban was a fan when he gave her bottom a squeeze as they made their way into the event while Nicole placed her
hands lovingly on his shoulders - Image - Headshot
All eyes and
cameras were on Nicole when a wardrobe malfunction threatened to undo her as she walked the red carpet with her
husband of eight years. The Aussie’s nipple was briefly visible beneath the
sheer material as she posed for photographers at the country music industry’s
night of nights - Image.
So was it
stunning A-list attire something you’d rather hang as net curtains?
Nicolle Galyon - Feminine: The artist from The Voice
added a burst of colour to proceedings with a bold floral maxi dress
Clutch/Jewels - Image The Songwriter was not a winner
on the night although two of her songs, “Automatic” and “We Were Us,” won
trophies for her associates for Single (going to artist) and Musical Event.
Rachel Holder – Welcome to Boobtown?: The “In Your
Arms” singer opted for a plunging Johnathan Kayne gown with rhinestone encrusted bodice.
Her red carpet glow was provided by VicAtSunTanCity sunless tanning, Hair by The
Edge Salon and her MUA (Makeup Artist) was Emily May.
RaeLynn - Hollywood glam: The Baytown, Texas “God Made Girls”
singer looked lovely and all grown up in a slinky black dress with a nicely
styled side-swept blonde locks - Image . This was a vast improvement on some of her signature fun
prom-like Tutu type outfits at previous award shows. However once the awards
show ended, and the Big Machine Label after party began that’s when the
20-year-old "The Voice" alum changed into a green and black doily
dress - Getty Image
Susan Yeagley – The 42-year old American actress and Nashville, Tennessee resident wore an alta costura Rubin Singer liquid gown available by special order at Neiman Marcus. The designer is a third generation Russian, raised in Paris and New York. Did it Squeak when she walked? – Shoe Detail - Clutch/rings
The Henningsens: The "American Beautiful" country
trio and Band Perry co-writers Brian Henningsen, Clara Henningsen and Aaron
Henningsen looked great with Clara proudly displaying her baby belly - Image.
Trisha Yearwood – The Male Vocalist presenter and "PrizeFighter"
singer went for simple elegance and covered up in a long-sleeved black dress,
but she added a pop of colour with her attractive scarlet-accentuated clutch - Image Her dark eye make up looked a little heavy and the outfit seemed
more appropriate for a more sombre occasion
Gents Fashion (A-Z)
Billy Currington - The “We Are Tonight” star kept it
classic with a navy suit jacket and black trousers - Image.
Brantley Gilbert – The “Bottoms Up” country rocker has often expressed a wish to win the “Worst Dressed” awards and the shoe kinda fits once more wearing a black ball cap, black suit jacket worn over a leather zip up with jeans with assorted chains and rings – Image – Head shot
Brett Eldredge – The New Artist of the Year “Beat Of
The Music” singer opted for a tux and bow-tie. The country crooner made his CMA
red carpet fashion choices in honor of his idol, Frank Sinatra. It was a great
look and really smart work - Image
Charles Este – The 49-year old Pittsburgh actor known
for his role as Deacon Clayborn in the Nashville TV drama strolled the carpet
with his lovely wife. Charles looked smart in a dark plaid blazer, dark button-down
and denim - Image
Chase Bryant – The 21-year old Broken Bow Newcomer "Take It On Back" singer-songwriter
made a fine impression in a classic dark blue three-piece suit by Hugo
Boss. The suave singer

former model who plays Will Lexington in the Nashville TV drama rocked casual

wore a dark blue velvet jacket, crisp white and burgundy tie which was perhaps
spoiled by the casual denims – Image - Shoe Detail
David Nail - Memphis singer and wife Catherine
Werne looked super stylish together. David wore a smart dark blue 2-piece suit with coordinating shirt and tie and a plaid pocket
square with a rather scruffy facial hair spoiling the overall look. Whilst his

carried a black clutch - Image
Dierks Bentley – The 38-year old 5 times 2014 CMA

creation but this time around the well groomed Ballard went with a classic tux
and bow-tie. One of the looks of the night rocking the crisp black tux! - Image - Image
Hunter Hayes – A show-stopper look from the 23-year
old “Wanted” singer with perfectly quaffed hair that surely had the girls
swooning as he walked the carpet. His Navy blue suit had just a touch of black
satin, which made it even more perfect for the occasion with a crisp white open

hourglass figure in a plunging floor-length black gown revealing ample cleavage
with a gold hippie-like headband adding to the overall attire. Aldean sported a
mustard coloured cowboy hat with ripped jeans and a black open neck shirt
revealing his hairy bare chest. The distressed jeans, the leather jacket…This
is not CMA Awards worthy, but was it a snipe at the Association for the lack of
nominations - Image
Jon Pardi – The 29-year old “Write You a Song” Californian
native got into the swing with a country classic suit from Manuel wore with a
white button-down and denim jeans – Image

certainly has cleaned up good with the most stunningly beautiful busty HOT HOT date

see-through panels and an attached transparent train. Platform heels, long flowing locks for a
month-dropping-drop-dead-gorgeous look - Image
Jonathan Jackson – The 32-year old Florida actor who

style coat with red piping and dark pants with a rather overall sloppy getup
- Image - Image
Kip Moore – The
34-year old Nashville s-songwriter and New Artist of the Year nominee improved
greatly on previous red carpet appearances. The “Up All Night” artist ditched
the blue jeans, signature reverse ball cap and instead achieved a chic
monochromatic look with jacket, pants and matching tee-shirt for a pleasing palette
of graphite greys for a pretty cool look - Image.
Little Big Town - Coordinated: Phillip Sweet, Kimberly
Schlapman, Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town making a
stylish quartet.
